So I’ve recently downloaded New World, and it was great. There was low FPS, but other than that, it was pretty fun. (I play on a laptop)
But yesterday, when I hit “Exit to Main Menu” and I went away from my computer, I came back and my computer was off. I turned it on again, and all of the apps I had open were closed, and I couldn’t open New world anymore because it kept giving me this message “Failed to launch the game” or “Game client encountered an application error”.
Then I realized that my computer was acting really sluggish. I reset my PC, uninstalled and reinstalled New World, googled the issue, went to the forums, nothing seemed to work.
Even if I open any other game, like Minecraft, or Valorant, or any game, the FPS is really bad.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t care about New World anymore, I just want my PC back to normal.
(My computer is pretty old if that matters)
Please help.
Hello @Poof!
Welcome to the New World forum, I’m really glad to see you are here at the forums and hope you can enjoy your time here!
I’m really sorry that you’re having issues with your computer, allow me to provide you some links that can help you with your concern:
First:
Second:
- Navigate to the following File Path: \Users*username*\AppData\Roaming\AGS\New World\savedata.
- Delete ONLY the usersettings.javsav file.
- Launch the game.
If those doesn’t work try this:
Follow the instructions at How to perform a clean boot in Windows. Clean booting into Windows prevents any unnecessary programs or services from starting up, and can help narrow down the cause of your issues. If you continue to have trouble after performing a clean boot, it’s safe to assume that background programs and services aren’t the root cause, and you can go back to your normal startup.
Make sure you’re computer is set up for high performance:
- Press Windows + R, type “powercfg.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
- Select the radio button next to the High performance power plan. You may need to click Show additional plans first.
Please follow those steps and if this doesn’t work let me know so we can try something else!
Cheers
