I had a similar issue 2 weeks ago with my 3060 Ti except I only got to play for 10-15 hours. My screen would go into power save mode while everything would run in the background. I’d have to force shut down my PC in order to get back to my desktop. I ignored it the first time around and chalked it up to being a random mishap. The next day it happened again. I went through the same process except my PC would only last 10-20 minutes before it went right into power save mode again. I tested out my 970 and had no issues at all. As a matter of fact I am still using it to play. My 3060 Ti failed testing at Zotac and my replacement is coming this week. I’m honestly nervous to try it again.
Have you tried reducing the power usage of your GPU through MSI Afterburner? Also, out of all the hours you have played, how much of it was from queue during the first week? I am convinced the menu is what messed everyone up because frame rates and power usage is all over the place.
This reply is a longwinded response basically saying that I think your GPU is definitely at risk because it’s faulty. This is a problem on both Amazon and GPU manufacturers, and Amazon doesn’t seem like they’re willing to admit anything because it isn’t happening to everyone. It’s basically exposing poor craftsmanship on the GPU manufacturer.
If you’re under warranty you may want to pressure test it to get a replacement. Waiting sucks but it’ll suck even more when it craps out on you post warranty on a more demanding game.
What’s kind of EVGA 1060 6gb do you have ? Mine is MSI 1060 , try everything i could , lowing power limit , core clock , memory clock . Clean install GPU driver , update window to newest version , turn off IVP6 , turn off window defender , change GPU , CPU heatsink ( i think temp. is not my computer problem cause i crashed when temp is lower than 50oC ) . Fixed window file error via sfc scan .
What’s kind of your PSU ?
I had the same issues. I had to go to my motherboard “ASUS” website and download the latest drivers there. I had to flash my bios from a USB to update this driver. All my issues were fixed after that. I was able to restore all my settings back to normal.
Hi thanks for replying, anyway i have a standard EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING 6GB GDDR5 like this one https://media.pangoly.com/img/4/f/8/8/4f88ed6f-d69c-40be-9587-a6eb24781d1b.jpg, and for the PSU i have trust tech 1050 w max, but late yesterday I managed to stay active without crashing by closing afterburner and letting the gpu run at its 100% with no reductions in power limit or clock but the but the counterpart is that the temperature rose and remained fixed at 82 degrees, but I already knew about this problem, it is a factory defect of my video card and therefore having already played for 4 years with these temperatures without ever having had any problem, I think that exploiting it at 100% its temp is high also because reading on the forums about this problem its maximum limit is 83-92 degrees after which the pc goes into safe mode; with afterburner i manage the fans and then I am left with low temperatures, was it possible that that was the conflict problem with the new world?
Problem is a faulty power delivery unit on the GPU that is ONLY exploited by New World, that’s why it’ll pass any stress test you throw at it and also why it’s lasted 4 years
Well i know that there is problem on only with new world but i think it’s not our fault or at least need to wait some updates from nvidia or new world i still dont know why exist a problem like this; the thing that was funny is that this is the first serious problem that i saw on a game in 6-7 years at least for me.
So I’ve been keeping in touch with a moderator here on the forums who has been really helpful and transparent in what’s happening with the dev team and I really appreciate the honesty coming from @DevonK . Thanks @DevonK !! =)
I’ve been told the matter is still being looked into and they’re still working on a fix, here’s what was said:
I had 2 Blackscreens / Fan @ 100% on a GeForce RTX 3090 VISION OC 24G. Crazy powerspikes (image above) at a powerlimit of 100%.
Since i reduced the powerlimit to 70% (+framecap @60fps) the game runs stable, no more crashes. Powerspikes still over 100%, but the power consumption stays under 320-330W.
Thanks for your comments, I have been away for a couple of days and havent really had time to watch the forums. Yeah, I think that I will go for a warranty, but I dont want to bust it since it´s near impossible to get a new one in reasonable time. But I´ll check back after I get some comments from either the retailer or EVGA on this.
I still seems to have this issue from time to time even with power target at 70%, it seems to only happen when I boot the game from steam when going to the main menu or when pressing the button to login to the server.
Once I am in the game and can actually do things it seems to run quite stable at 120 fps (capped 120 in nvdia), and it is not overheating or anything it stays at 72° to 78°.
I also capped frames at 60° to see if it wouldl still occur after this.

Hey guys, my MSI 980ti just died an hour ago while playing New World. The card was running great until I started playing New World, i got sometimes blackscreens etc. never thought about it. Today my card got fried and is no more usable. Im 100% the card broke because of the game.
