Have a 1080FTW card as well game crashes after 10-50mins of playing. Lowered my settings to low and capped fps to 60 verified my game cache got the newest drivers. I’m still crashing.
Thank you @Jorinjorin , we all appreciate the response and the time you took to let us all know =) Hope the team finds out what the problem is soon. Is there anything else we can do to help get to the bottom of this?
Thanks for responding and for looking into the issue, just wanted to add my EVGA 1070TI FTW is also experiencing this just in case that helps. For some reason it only happens in the evening though, like I was online playing and grinding for a couple hours this morning before work but tonight only online for >30 minutes before black screen.
Getting this in my logs last crash this evening:
<2021-10-02 06:11:22.046>: [Info] (AZCore): [Game] CGame::ActorContainerDisconnect
<2021-10-02 06:11:22.046>: [Info]: CSystem::Quit invoked from thread 14356 (main is 14356)

I had hard crashes all the time with geforce 1070 and rtx 3070, tried everything people posting and finally updating motherboard firmware helped me !! Game now runs ok.)
I’ve had the same problem with Asus 2080Ti, freezing within max 15 minutes of starting the game. Been trying to find a solution to be able catch up with my friends. This morning I tried Geforce drivers 460.79(safemode clean with DDU 1st, no Geforce experience). Frames capped to 60 ingame and dynamic resolution off. It has been running for 2 hours now without a freeze. Not sure if it’s related to some or all of the things I did but atleast I’m playing!.
Je vous conseil de passez votre écran en 1920x1080
et de retirer " lance en mode administrateur"
ca a fonctionner pour moi !
J’espère pour vous aussi !
Same problem for me. Game just freeze, but task manager dont show that game not responding. And GPU usage 0% on NewWold.exe procces after freeze.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 TI ASUS ROG Strix 11gb.
i have the solution,
It’s work for me i can play 3 hours without freeze or crach / and i play again now
i have Evga 1080 ti amp 11G, and i have desinstall all nvidia driver, i play with no driver in 1920*1080,
i have desinstall geforce experience too, and now i play with no problem for the first time,
okay the game is not wonderfull but i can play ! X)
Hello.
Same issue here GTX 980 TI. Games always crashes when my GPU load randomly spikes to 100%. Even if staying afk and not moving, scene not changing. Only helps Task Manager to close the game.
Here is my DxDiag.
Hi, I got the same issue with an MSI RTX 2070, tried to check integrity, change settings, DDU last driver or an older one, windowed and fullscreen… The game freezes after like 5-20 minutes in game, sound is still on and I have to close it from the task manager.
This is happening to all cards. The only solution I’ve found that actually works is to limit your gpu usage to 70-80%. I underclocked my gpu and capped the fps in game to 30 and it has solved the issue temporarily until AGS pushes an update. I’d rather enjoy the game on higher settings, but this will do for now. Also there is no reason the menu should be making my gpu run at 100% usage. Something strange is going on.
After i had same Problems with Marvel´s Avengers Now (New in XBOX Game Pass), i htought oh good my card is broken and died.
After reading many and searched Google and find many Black Scrren Issues and not only for New World. I found very often that the solution of the problem a defekt in the DVI Cable was.
So i tested with Only 1 Monitor and One Cable.
I tested it 1 Hour in Avengers and over 1 hour in new world and get no Black screen!!
Now I Ordered 2 NEW DVI Cables
And i not Underclocked now with MSI Afterburner!!
i would like to add:
-It worked very well first two days before patch, with that patch(162mb one) some other 32x or 64x bit app was installed, those which are “needed” for games… from then on i experience lag, strange behavior
i have 1080ti EVEGA ftw3
This. You summed up the issue and what we’ve been observing well.
By any chance are you using g-sync with that monitor?
I have gtx 970 and I am having this problem again. Had it in the beta, but i limited the gpu to 70% and capped fps to 60 and it worked fine again. But recently even with those settings it is crashing again especially in the queues. I rolled back the driver update to previous one and it seems to be working again with same settings. Also I dont think this had any effect but I am overclocking my cpu now (but just in case its taking load off gpu or something and to list all the changes I made).
3090 asus tuf oc with 5900x all updated drivers and proper water cooling etc - figured I’d put this here to help if possible
First time started game sounded like throttle exhaust fans - literally the entire machine I thought was going to fry - the full fans sounded that unhealthy coming from the whole cinder block that is my pc
Once game loaded into first screen with community options and create character etc then it subsided and I’ve had no problems ever since
Logged on multiple times since launch and never crashed
I can’t overstate the first and only time the fans went into overdrive though - that’s why I found this post bec it describes what it sounded like - it sounded to extend past the 100% threshold and went on for about 5-10 seconds and frankly I thought I’d just lost my pc - not exaggerating here
Cheers and hope everyone gets playing
I feel like the issue with New World is that for MANY gpu’s, it makes the Power % draw reach 90+% which for specific GPU’s creates problems like crashing, artifacts, very high temps etc. I personally use a GTX 970 and NO GAME ever, and I play many games, has managed to give me a Power % draw higher than 86-87 and New World has reached 96%!. I dont have any issues myself but as I said, I think when this happens, it affects certain GPU’s no matter the brand.
You can check the Power % in MSI Afterburner, best scenario would be to track it with the Overlay and see if the crash occurs when Power % reaches 90-92%+.
Keep me updated.
I have a GTX 1050 Ti and also keep freezing. I didn’t have any issue running normally during the beta. I have spent hours troubleshooting, trying different solutions, prior drivers like rolling back to the driver I used during the beta, etc. Nothing worked except for the following.
The below is my optimal solution until they fix/optimize the issue and I can play for hours. Hope this helps!
- Game settings: Windowed mode, select Low graphics and leave as is, turn off V-sync, cap FPS to 30 frames
- Use MSI Afterburner: turn core and memory clock down to their lowest settings (-400 and -502 respectively); and don’t touch the power limit
- Use most up to date Nvidia drivers (recommend doing a clean install)
- Changed page file from system managed to use 1.5x-3x memory allocation on my system drive (I made this change super early on and haven’t changed it back. This may not be needed)
Something is still terribly wrong with New World and certain GPUs!! BEWARE!!!!!! - YouTube JayzTwoCents picking up the story, even has a video of a ZOTAC card SMOKING after getting the black screen + fans issue. Anyone still saying this is an EVGA issue or thinks software is unable to brick your GPU should watch this.
There’s clearly a bigger problem with more than one factor - it seems like a combination of hardware faults that no other game this generation has exposed to date and something about the way New World interacts with the DX API putting excessive load/power draw on the GPU.
