New world does not need more servers. Some time ago, I mentioned why it needs larger server population caps, instead of more servers.
Companies need to have a large population in order to allow the flow of poeple to migrate around a server and find a home. If a server has low population caps, the people quickly cycle through companies, which leads them to leaving the game because of not being able to find or create a home. People are like the shades of the colors of the rainbow, they need to find people similar or identical to them and their positions. These positions make up various political and religious views, as well as their attitude, what they will tolerate, and how progressed they are or what times they can do that progression; and so we need lots of people with lots of guilds.
If the guilds only offer red option for all red minded people, the control of those few guilds will shift people into a “industrial” product, molded and shaped a specific way which will work against the very nature of people and over time they will grow tired of that view, attitude and so on and leave.
Lastly, if the population on a server is low all the “good” players will collect into a single guild and create a monopoly on it. Something we are seeing. So the system of design for conquest and territory expansion may not be as broken as seen by the designers. It may just be that there is not enough competition to provide balance.
AGS servers can barely handle 2k players and youre suggesting they increase the server size? Lmao.
The way good companies build lasting games is with player trust and a strong foundation to work from. They have to make stable servers before they can make ‘larger’ servers that are stable.
They repeatedly have pushed content and ignored playtesters reporting bugs, ignored players reporting bugs, ignored queues, ignore combat imbalances. They ignore the players when they are raising concerns / problems with the foundation of the game.
And just because you cannot find a company you like doesnt mean it is a common trend. Sure there will usually be one strong company then a bunch of secondary companies but that isnt unique to low pop servers. In fact its WAY worse on a max pop server where now there are just 3 times as many people being excluded from wars.
The solution is leaving enough servers so that some are highpop and some are lowpop because both have not major but impactful differences in playstyle and player experience.
We could use channels instead of servers.
Have each server have let’s say 2-3 channels initially. So the resources won’t be abused too much but still have more players able to play. With the usual cap of 2k per channel that means way more activity in general but without any of the lag that throwing more people on brings.
This game is constantly crashing and kicking with lag detected it absolutely cannot handle an increase in server cap. There is almost no one that believes your idea will work.
Don’t care about your idea of thinking high pop is great, some of us have played since day one and ques don’t do it for us. A few overly loud people like your self have made this game unplayable by going against what the majority actually wants, most don’t want 2k pop. If they did want it they could transfer, we should have never been forced to be in high pop to appease people that could have solved the problem them self.
