New World Endgame Discussion

I’ve done a bazillion chest runs at this point. I’ve thought to myself several times that I don’t really get to experience these places. It’s just a big zergfest of dozens of people and a screen full of as many lighting effects. I can hardly see what we’re fighting, and nothing takes very long to kill.

What if Sirens, Myrk, Mines, those kinds of places were 20 or 25 man raids that took practice and strategy to get through, and the pace was slow enough that you could actually appreciate where you are and what you’re fighting?

I don’t mean re-tune the existing elite areas, I mean create new ones.

Edit: The responses to my post have misinterpreted it. This thread is about end game. This post is a suggestion for end game.

Try solo chest runs. I did that for 3 months nonstop. Didn’t bored. And I didn’t just loot the Elites but almost all normal chests in the area and gathered all I could. Sadly, some refine mats became worthless and changing them wasn’t worth it.

People called us cheaters for tricking the AI. Well, I literally killed bosses on my own so… But it was the most PvE fun I had in NW. Far more than dungeons.

Oh, this could also be fixed if the Chests could only be looted by 10 people max every 10+ minutes and decrease the total cooldown to 18 hours. And/or chests could also drop better loot if you get credit for killing the boss nearby. Like +30% loot chance and quality.

Some Elite places aren’t meant to be zerged but when AGS tried to scale up the Mobs HP when tons of people around, the Bosses were unkillable lol

Not gonna lie but battle pets were one of the most ingenious updates WoW launched. Part of that, though, was that cosmetic pets people had already counted to the limit. So all these flair items that used to hog space got logged into their own inventory-- for a goddam Pokemon minigame. What’s up with that!

What is typical endgame content for more established MMOs that have decades of content? I think that’s a good place to start and then take the good and leave the bad.

What’s WoWs endgame like? ESO? FF?

On a side note. I created a list of what I think would be cool endgame content.

Personally would want:

  • Significantly increase the difficulty of the mutation system. Perhaps an M+ system that includes increasing the difficulty of the bosses. Make it insanely difficult instead of just locking it behind GS. I think the core of the mutation system is really cool and eventually we will have thousands of combinations. We just need to crank up the difficulty a bit. Apply it to boss fights or just increase the difficulty of the fights at higher levels.

  • PVE coliseum that let’s you fight difficult bosses, similar to PVE arenas now but with weekly mutation options. Give us 50+ different bosses to cycle through each week. Give us wave survival modes as well. The Lost would make for a simple zombie survival mode. Have us fight beasts. Include traps.

  • World Bosses with some that are announced server wide and take 100? 200? People to kill.

  • 10-12 person raids.

  • Jump puzzles. Maybe a few. Let us try for record times to earn cosmetic housing items, titles, achievements, song pages. Give us places with Starstone lasers we need to time itself going through, the swinging axes, the admiral’s exploding floor mechanic and have us move from one point to another and if you fall it’s an instant kill. Stuff like that. As random components so it’s not too simply solved.

  • Hidden areas in the open world that if you find them you get an achievement. Have it so if you play a specific 5 person song in a specific area it opens a door. Other cool things. Easter eggs. Maybe teach a rare song.

  • Casual Invasions. Could be done as the coliseum waves as per above.

  • Casual War mode/Challenge other companies to instanced version. Ability to do scrimmages.

  • Achievements. Add a shit ton of them with some rare chase titles, cosmetics/housing items, and songs.

  • Provide a housing item that is given from each expedition if you complete it. Another for M10 Gold. Finally another for M10+ Gold.

  • Create a dynamic and rewarding open world experience. Dynamic weather eventually. Random spawns that can be found by wandering around the open world. Orichalcum meteors, treasure maps, rare single loot chests (disappear when found), random nodes (in addition to static ones), abandoned caravans, rare mobs, rare animal mobs (white stag, bioluminescent moth at night, very rarely spawn), thieves attacking you on the roads, trade caravans just moving between territories, random groups of bards you can play with, etc. When you have 50? 100? Different things built up over time it starts to become a really cool dynamic world and if it’s based on randomized spawns then it can’t be farmed and rewards exploration. Create new exploration skill that gives xp when interacting with dynamic events and randomly generated spawns. Static spawns will remain but won’t give any xp towards exploration skill. As skill levels up, your compass picks up on more random spawns.

  • Extremely difficult areas designed for zergs or massive coordinated runs. Kinda like a Myrkgard on steroids. Don’t think AGS thought zergs would ever become a thing, but would be cool if they designed some areas that essentially need zergs. I can currently run through the area without too many issues. Would be cool if there was a place that was literally impossible to do that. Hyper dangerous areas.

  • Open World PVP hotspot system. Provide significantly increased PVP rewards at specific locations for a set period of time. Have this rotate. Essentially create GC again but don’t confine it strictly to GC.

  • Increase gathering skill cap to 300 but scale it so that the xp required from 200-300 is insane and exponential. Give a grind to people that want it. Keep refining and crafting the same for now.

  • Add a shit ton of new housing items. Add new T5 houses that are essentially mansions but require 300k gold to purchase. Housing upkeep system changed to be static and not based on cost of house. Add some cool houses outside of settlements and in the open world.

  • Farming skill.

  • Leaderboards for gathering skills, PVP rankings, fastest expedition times, etc. Ways for players to complete. Highscore system.

  • Make it so xp continues to be relevant but in a non-forced non-obligatory way. Create a system where you can level up past 60, but it’s similar to aptitude and eventually unlock titles, achievements, songs, and perhaps cosmetics/housing items. It would NOT provide any additional non-cosmetic benefits to players. Just an outlet for hardcore players. People wanting to PVP immediately after getting max level, can ignore it completely. Ideally non open world PVP would be an normalized as well.

I can’t bring myself to call what we have as endgame. While I can find things to do to entertain myself ultimately there isn’t much there. World is beautiful, but it still feels very empty. The suffocation of 51+ fast travel locations just killed the mood really. None the less the activities keep me going.

As for how I spend my time. After logging in I spend a good chunk gathering resource to fill up the storages for the day. Complete at least 1 row of buy orders usually ignoring the jackrabbits that think I gather for charity of 0.01 coin. I do a couple rounds of OPR for a warm up.

Go out looking for glitches in the map mesh. Log off. Log back in later at night which leads to mostly spamming OPR. Which usually leads into either getting a bunch of range that won’t get on the god damn point, or their obsessed with stat padding and play tag on the road.

Switch to an alt, Play more OPR. Wait for centuries for the rolly pollys to get on the GOD DAMN POINT -,…- Craft some stuff, a few dungeons and some chest runs to pass the time. Rinse n Repeat.

I sit here waiting for mounts. To customize them, to farm them, to ride them across the world. The freedom to put down a small T1 house down like a tent. Farm resources to build it. Then farm more resources to upgrade it. You know, picking where I want to live and not in a territory by force. Then build a guild hall somewhere with guild storage.

I want war & invasion to be world events not freaking awful instances.

World bosses are nice n all but I want an event boss that takes the collective unity of the whole server to chip it down. It has a months worth of HP. And every fight is only chipping away at it. And hopefully not super telegraphed like everything else in NW.

keep on dreaming guys… keep on dreaming…

there is no content for endgame, they might aswell put the credits up once you reach lvl 60.

Lol what end game… M10’s LOL

But mommy…I can’t get new world out of my head. Make it stop mommy. Lol

Proponents of New World are bastions of reason and grace.

And yet we are far more civilized than the deranged haters who hate that people like something they don’t. . Present company included. Keep on letting new world rent space for free. .

Ah, I said nothing about civility. We’re pretty standard here on the forums for civility save an odd extreme example or two. Most discussion, when it’s not about people (lol) is perfectly civil and constructive.

I don’t see why proponents are often so salty about the people of the forums. This place is really tame compared to other examples.

Because you are all mad that people like things you don’t, and try to convince us not to like it. It’s childish at its core. But I’m sure you really “like” the game and want to succeed and are just misunderstood.

Sounds like a conflation to me but you do you. Kind of a desperate one, too… “you are all mad,” well it’s the internet Senator. We’re all a little mad here.

I will. And keep letting new world rent space for free.

I mean, it’s buy to play, so… isn’t the prospect of returning players a good thing?

Shouldn’t we want players to ‘rent freely’ to New World? Isn’t that… like… exactly what a game company would want for their game?..

Not when they bring with it the level of derangement that so many do. If you truly want the game to succeed, then it’s not renting space because you actively desire to live there. Only those that can’t get it out of their head, is it renting space against their will.

I think you’re maybe taking people watching a video game’s development a lot more seriously than they’re taking it, and they’re taking the piss with these forums, since they know they can get a rise.

No, I just like to make fun of how lame they look trolling a game they dislike. That’s it.

Activities-PVE SOLO:

Do 3 or more pve faction quests. Going for the max out the pve factions achievements for Missions and 100 in town rep. When i hit 100 town rep, i’ll go for 200, then to 300.
Just because I can.

Do my dallies: Asmodium, Runic Leather, Phoenix weave, Glittering Ebony, Runestone and shove them into storage.

Do gypsum: Faction Vender orb, Make use/topaze enhancement potion and harvest whatever is low for tomorrows dailies-which gives me emerald gypsum, topaze gypsum and diamond gypsum.
Go fight the solo bosses in skysong crypt or skysong temple for obsidian gypsum.

Progression now on umbral shard/expertise raising.

Process all the gypsum using weapons/gear selections that are already 625-to get the max umbral shards of 400 per selection.

Find the weapon i’m working on and upgrade it.
I am working on having one of every weapon to 625. Just walking down the list.

Then decide to do a 600 weapon bound to myself in crafting, get a token amount of shards (like 90) and then salvage it…
or do the waste of resources/time RNG crafting.
Even though i do 595 to 600 crafting…
I hate the rng system with a passion

Go do 10 to 25 portals, level up to 45. I’m working on the 5000 corrupted portals in achievements.

Now its guild time, see if they are up to doing expeditions or the pve arenas etc. etc. -varies with whoever is on.

How do i feel about all of the endgame.
As a PVE player, who does only pve activities.

Its good until you hit the rng of crafting- i’m no fan of that at all,. so i don’t bother crafting rng.
