New World fan base split

this 100%
I have said this several time. On release I would say at best the game was Alpha status. By the time I stopped playing and they were finally getting the PTR up and running they could be considered to finally be in Beta. When the content and updates currently in testing on PTR are ready then I say this game is finally Release ready.
This is my biggest reason for pushing for Fresh Start Servers as well. With the game finally in a state where it should have been released we should get to give it a full experience with no one having the advantage of already being geared and leveled or being able to bring those things later to mess the economy it creates.

Only problem with this, most folks will create a character on a fresh server and it invalidates all the gear/grinding the neckbeards did while playing a crap game for the past 9 months. This is why they are mad about the idea.

The game literally was full loot PVP in the first betas, it was actually awesome but then the snowflakes started crying instead of just finding a game that was already being made to suit them.

Are you comparing an MMORPG to a first person arcade shooter?

I saw this from day one. One pool of people wanted the PvP experience they waited years for. In that pool you have no consensus of what real PvP is, or should be.

Then you have another other pool of players looking for a mmorpg home that they have been searching for more than a decade. There is no consensus on what this should be.

A mmorpg should be one or the other. You just can’t balance both types of play into a single game. You also end up with a dreadful looped meta style season while all other options are forsaken. Everyone knows where that experience is. Maybe in later expansions dabble in lightly adding some of the other game play.

We got a theme park with no depth or direction. The scope of direction without depth is continuing.

I don’t understand the obsession with this game mode. I mean I don’t really care if they implement it or not, it’s not like players will be stupid enough to run around with their best gear and resources equipped. You will see naked people farm a few nodes and teleport to safety since you barely need any Azoth to TP now

It’s a like a child that wants something he doesn’t have, just to get it and throw it away after a few days…

Barely anyone wants full loot.

There’s not a split, there’s like maybe 100 of you, and AGS needs to make money.

Nice interaction, often gets even better if you report them and let them know you did so. Great way to put out the trash :stuck_out_tongue:.

Many is obviously an overestimation.

If you look at the MMO crowd, it’s probably a bit of a 20 - 60 - 20 distribution, being full PvE only, PvX and fully PvP only.

Out of the PvE only and PvX crowd, you’re pretty much going to find nobody in favor of a full loot PvP game. Out of the PvP crowd, I’d say that even if I’d say 1%, it’s probably on the high end. In other words, you’re probably looking at 1 in every 2000 players who are in favor of true full loot games.

Hence why it simply barely exists. Some games have zones according to this ruleset at best. But all out, it’s just not sustainable. And the problem with zones according to this ruleset, is most people will just stick to running naked or the limited quantity of items allowed which are safeguarded.

And it’s not that full loot games in general don’t have to work, but not in the form of an MMORPG. Or a game with any form of true gear progression.

Its really hard to copare NW against any other mmo because the combat system is not the same. Tap target vs action skills the content is not even close to compare. Let alone trying to compare its PvP to an arena shooter like overwatch. NWs PvP was great in the beginning, yes as players got stronger and crafted specific gear there was first instances of unbalancing. They over corrected this by nerfing heavy to the ground and buffing all range while rapier iframe fest continued. They do need a big PvP overhaul but to me its still one of the better PvP out there. Though i am bias and hate tap target.

Well slow down, nobody wants that in THIS mmo.

I’ll take it in quite a few others though

I love comments like this, all I see here is “hey you paid for something so let me decide how long you should get to enjoy it, oh and here is your wallet back with how much we think you should have” gives me quite the chuckle

Yeah, too bad lots of people didn’t try the game at all becuase of rumours about azoth being pay2win in the cash shop.

Sad how other p2w and mtx infested games are more popular, and a lot of them aren’t even good.

In games that have full loot, the gear systems are set up differently, yes if you lost what people have on them now, it would be devastating. Any full loot game I have ever played , there is nothing that you can lose that will make anyone feel like their life is over lol. The game would have followed it’s initial model of full loot then this whole gear system we have now would not even exist. It would have been implemented in a way that the rush is still there during a fight, but not going to end the game cause you just lost a plethora of time and money in one fight. Granted most of these games do have a smaller following, but I think the best of both worlds can co-exist with PvX. The game and the players would need to adapt as it goes along to see where the balance needs to be focused. The state NW is in now though, having full pvp would really benefit those of us who really want the rush of knowing at any time you can be attacked or can attack another player. Add in some elements like a murderer system so people cannot just “zerg beach” other players into hating the game. The days of full loot I feel are truly gone and will stay locked up in the realms of Agon and Britannia, but this doesn’t mean a more realistic approach to a better open world PvP system can’t be achieved.

You are trolling right? Not made for PVP? Almost the entire basis of the game is PVP wars lol. C’mon go back under your bridge…

The game was originally built around being pvp. However, due to the toxic nature of gamers, pve was added, and they veered away from being pvp.

The game is NOT setup around being full pvp. This is in part, due to the griefers that would exist within a PVP server. The only ones left, would be pvp company war loggers. The players that won’t collect mats or anything of the sort.

The game, is NOT setup for PvP. They would have to put in time and effort into making it pure pvp viable. It simply is not worth the time investment.

So, you, sir…go back into your hole and shoo.

I just stated this above and …i can’t get back to my hole since you now occupy it

Sort of. Those who weren’t involved and wonder why AGS moved away from the original concept of New World as a fully flagged survival game need look no further than the PK subset of PvEers who got their jollies slaughtering low level over and over and over again in the initial Alpha. After seeing Butchery on the Beach™ AGS realized what the game could easily turn into and immediately changed direction.

“One of the problems we observed with this system was that some high level players were killing low level players, A LOT. Sometimes exclusively. This often led to solo or group griefing scenarios that created a toxic environment for many players."

You lost me right here.

So you think that PvE players don’t deserve an online game? Do we only get the scraps left behind after the PvP players get their fill? Are we less of a gamer in your eyes because we don’t want to fight other players and enjoy the other aspects of a game? This feels a bit condescending…

I may be a PvE player but I support compromise, I think the PvP community deserves more than what they have, but not at the expense of the PvE experience. If the devs want to do PvP servers, great, if they want to add PvP zones, go for it, but don’t change the game we have now. To advocate for something like this makes it sound like you want to get it your way and don’t want anyone else to have it theirs. I think this game can exist for all who want to play it, no matter how they play it, especially if a little compromise can be found, but tuning it into an us vs. them fight wont accomplish anything good…

:beers:

Oh no sorry if it came across like that, I didn’t mean it like that.

I just don’t like the fact that the game sometimes seems like two games shoved together.

I love PvE. I really only enjoy PvP in a “battleground” (to use a generic term) scenario.
Because when I am out fishing or gsthering other items I dislike being attacked.
