It’ll take a really good MMO from Riot to make me abandon Black Desert Online and Guild Wars 2. Like a really good MMO that provide better entertainment then those two. That’s an extremely tall order to fulfill.
I just started Black Desert last night, but found out you cannot even loot items that drop cos you nee a pet and so you have to buy a package for $30, $50, or $80 to really get started… and the event ends in early February, so not really enough time to make it worthwhile… so not sure what I’m going to do yet.
Game status is WELP.
For you. Brand and reach does its own thing.
I agree to an extent. T&L is around the corner and looks very promising. If they knock it out of the ball park it’ll be T&L vs Riot MMO. At the same time, neither are going to hyper-PvP focused and both will be Story-Driven PvE-First titles.
That’s not to say the PvP will suck, by any means, I’m just saying. New World, if they focus on PvP balance while releasing content on both sides, they can retain a lot of it’s audience throughout both.
Also, according to leaks, New World is branching out into the Sea Aspect of the map and giving us some sort of boat type of PvP and PvE? Including boating and swimming as skills…? It’s very vague, tbh.
They’re also going to be revamping PvE to allow 6 abilities per weapon, only in PvE though and doing an accumulative release of weapons at one time…?
If they can finish all that content, release it late summer and from here til then work on PvP balance and release the content on the roadmap, New World looks like it could surpass the phrase of, “surviving,” if it’s done right that is.
Can’t actually @ him. His profile is very private.
I thought you were paid to support this game with arguments in line with reality!
Would I have been wrong? ![]()
You can manually loot without pets but that is highly inefficient. So, I’ll be upfront and say if you want most of the luxuries that BDO can offer. Then you will be spending about $200 one time and then $60/month after that for the 3 optional subs. If you can’t afford that then fine, either grind more to make up the difference, just continue to play the MMOs you don’t like or stop gaming.
PS -
That all being said, most F2Pers would get much entertainment out of BDO than most MMOs on the market. If they don’t have the cash to pay for amenities and such. Then they will have to grind a bit longer than those that do. But at the end everybody ends up around the same power level.
Game status update: WELP Have you ever built a door?
The doors working backwards in Brimstone do seem easy to fix to me…
AGS has had too many flops to shut down New World.
I think youll see an almost non existent player base, and a lack of new content, but they wont shut it down. They cant officially have another crucible.
To be fair, a lot of doors in Brimstone were broken on my server for a while. (Appearing halfway open while closed)
So…
Doors do seem to be problematic.
WELP it’s not dead, you mad?
The game was much worse off in terms of player count and game QoL/ content/ performance last summer when peak concurrents were down to 16k. The game is significantly better today than it was. If it survived then when it was really bleak, it will definitely survive now that the game is in a better spot. Since the game requires no additional cost to come back to play, many players will return when new content or gratitudes are released.
You’re forgetting that AGS has just played back-to-back important wildcards: Brimstone and the FSS.
The roadmap for these next 6 months unfortunately does not offer anything comparable…
So don’t expect massive returns from players, like we just had.
Playing for 2700hours, played since launch and on every update they make, same boring stuff, just an new dungeon to grind over and over, dead tanks and healers.
I play often as hybrid class in mmo:s (tank+healer), after the nerf on heavy armor -30% healing output, the healer part on me went dead.
As tank, well I got my place in dungeons, but not in pvp, always play as healer in pvp content.
So my choices on this game are very limited, so my daily rutin is gathering/crafting and run as tank in regular dungeons/mutations…
New world badly needs is new battlegrounds with diffrent content and rated battlegrounds.
100% but those averages are consistent over months/years. They give a visual of the number of people playing on average. When one month is 130k and 2 months later its 30k that’s not a good look.
How do they make money without allot of players, specially new ones? Their only revenue stream is selling the game and skins which you can get from Twitch and Amazon Prime for free.
They canceled Crucible when it wasn’t going to be profitable and the only reason (IMO) that they’re keeping NW alive is they need a win.
It will be interesting to see what happens over the next 6 months with no new content, continued balancing problems and bugs.
This is probably the only reason they haven’t pulled New World. All faith in the company would be lost if they had another game fail.
Totally! That is the only two ways they can make money. Totally!
Or is it?
They could make money selling great skins, housing items, dyes… but the dyes are awful, the housing system is laggy as hell, and the skins are disgusting. They’re their own worst enemy.
