New world is a NEW game

I say this because, of course it has bugs. World of Warcraft was buggy as hell on launch and still had some good snafus running for it in burning crusade even (I remember them shutting down the servers for emergency maintenance for a couple of days).
I love this game, despite initially having an intention to ‘get it later if I feel like it’ until my friend out and bought it for me. The first day playing this, I was hooked.
I was like ‘finally, a game that gives leveling an actual challenge, versus the fast as hell world of warcraft leveling’.
New world is not that old. But, since it’s an amazon owned game studio, some detractors think “they should have this crap all perfect and ironed out yesterday”!
Hate to break it to you, but no product is perfect on launch or even close.
Coding isn’t like “swish and flick, oh there, you’ve got it!” after five minutes.
Even the pros fuck up their coding on things. it happens.
I know because I have a friend who does that coding for websites. Coding for games, holy hell. You mess up one line of code, and the damn thing won’t even launch.
I’m not a coder, but I know that it’s very intensive and hard work to write and put out patches and hotfixes and whatnot.
Maybe we could be a little kinder to the people at AGS, instead of getting our virtual pitchforks and torches out and crying for our virtual pound of flesh.
I for one, look forward to this product improving over time.
the glitches, bugs and other things will be ironed out.
Since it’s buy to play, you don’t lose money with a subscription while waiting for things to get better.

New World’s bugs/glitches/exploits in 1 month have surpassed any other MMO in history… Maybe all of them. There have been at least 4 Duplication exploits that have destroyed economies. There’s been exploits that make people unkillable, and able to kill people in 1 hit. Equipment being changed without telling anyone. Equipment being deleted. Ultra-Rare resources being used but you don’t get the item you crafted (Imagine if your Hand of Rag disappeared). Tuning orbs disappearing, hundreds of trading post orders vanishing. Whole swaths of the economy deleted. People banned because of mass reports.

The number of Game Breaking issues in New World would have destroyed any other MMO. It’s only because Amazon’s Resources that people believe they can push through this… However, they’re going backwards not forward…

This shouldn’t be an excuse ever for anything. The same problem has BF right now, Cyberpunk had it and others. It doesn’t matter which genre. It’s more about the broken promises. You are right that we can wait, what else can we do? Giving more feedback, testing more on PTR? It’s just hard to stay positive at this point, leaving on holiday with a broken game is kinda odd to me and the first time I experienced this in a game.
I also look forward to the day the game is acutally working fine and all the senseless timesinks are gone but they aren’t making it easy for me.

Since It’s a free world New World doesn’t lose anything by people offering their opinion. The only people that get butthurt are the people who think the negativity will destroy the game… The game is doing that itself…

That’s actually a good point of view.

Games good, homo sapiens bad

Okay, so yes technically New World launched not that long ago, making it a “New Game” however…

There were 3 complete 1-60 Beta’s that allowed a large majority of the playerbase to see all aspects of the game prior to launch. This cut the exploration and learning aspect down significantly. Much of the mid game was basically skipped in favor of following all the available guides and interactive maps to reach 60 quickly, max professions quickly, etc.

On top of this, many bugs and exploits that existed back then and were reported on still carried over into release. This is bad for numerous reasons but having bad actors already fueled with exploits days 1 made it all the worse.

Finally, you can feel with every patch the Dev’s struggling to work within the games engine where even simple changes seem to have unexpected consequences. This is basically like buying a brand new car off the lot while the engine is on fire and being told to fix it while you drive home.

I love the game and have massive respect for the development team, but the problem isn’t that New World is a “New Game” it’s that it’s a heavily damaged product that is clearly an absolute pain to work within.

No offense, but initial launch of FFXIV was worse. Just from what I recall their targeting system was not aligning correctly, my character would randomly switch to gathering gear in combat, quests would not trigger properly, no auction house or trading post at launch, the skill based system kind of worked, but abilities weren’t procing properly, and that doesn’t account for server issues, queue times, lag, etc. Nor the gil sellers botters, etc. And that is only what I can recall. And lastly, that does not factor in that I think I paid $65 for the deluxe or premium download, and had to pay I think $14.95 or $19.95/month or the fact that our household bought it 3 times since we all played. Nor does that account for the fact that my account was compromised several times even though I had two party verification with THEIR security token.

And this was just at launch. It went downhill from there. It initially launched in 2010. It relaunched in 2013. That is 3 YEARS before they got a good, quality product out of it. It hasn’t even been 3 MONTHS for NW. Hell, it hasn’t even been 2 months yet.

So while NW has a laundry list of issues, and yes there has been a lot of fumbles, I feel forward progress is being made. I am pissed as hell over the nerf of my FS and IG, but I am diggin’ the hell out of the VG. I was liking working on my furniture making, but that is on hold indefinitely. Quests with bosses that were 60 silver elites are now 65 gold elites, and instead of my wife and I being able to duo them we need a full group to take them down.

So yes, I feel some of your pain. NW has a lot of flaws to work through, but it is FAR FAR FAR from being the worse MMO ever launched.
