New World is the best MMO to come out in the last decade

I do like the game. I see its flaws. If I thought this was going to be it and the way its going to be I would not stick around. But I see potential and an active development team so I’m doing what I need to do now for hopefully what will come. The foundation is there it just needs some cracks filled and be built upon.

Well its an opinion so you can’t be wrong…for you… but the otherside of that is the same applies to everyone else’s opinion. New World is flavor of the moment because there are no other real alternatives to a MMO’s (Btw I don’t care browser MMO’s since I’ve yet to find one that is even remotely quality) , the bar is not high for “best MMORPG in 10 years”.

But at any rate to each their own. New World needs a lot of QoL changes and most of all CONTENT where’s the beef after 60? Please don’t say expeditions and wars…if that’s all you got I repeat myself…where’s the beef after 60?

Just for funsies to play along, lets look at the MMOs that have released since 2011.
Launches
2011: SWTOR, DCUO, Rift
2012: Tera, Wakfu, Guild Wars 2, Planetside 2
2013: Defiance, Neverwinter, OSRS
2014: ESO, Wildstar, Archage (NA/EU)
2015: Skyforge
2016: Blade and Soul, BDO (West)
2017: Albion Online, Tree of Life
2018: MapleStory 2, Bless Online, Atlas
2019: WoW Classic, Astellia Online, Pagan Online
2020: Bless Unleashed, Population Zero, Phantasy Star Online 2
2021: Crowfall, Swords of Legends Online, Bless Unleashed, New World, Elyon, Fallen Earth Classic

Thats pretty stiff competition considering ESO, SWTOR, OSRS, WoW Classic are all there.

I’ve been playing MMOs as long as they’ve existed as a category and I’d have to agree with you and the OP.

It’s sufficiently different to not feel like, “yeah, been here, done this” but has enough familiarity in mechanics to feel like home.

I have my issues with the game but to the OP’s point, this IS the best MMO to release since WoW and if you weren’t around when that launched, New World has been a picnic compared to that launch.

Many have tried to be the next WoW and perhaps nothing ever will be because the landscape has changed and the conditions may never be the same to make an apples to apples comparison but I’ll be around a while longer to see what happens.

Well, maybe that’s why MMORPGs are not that popular anymore compared to other genres.

Yeah and of those listed many I’d say are better (or let’s be more accurate here WERE better in their heyday) than New World as a whole complete MMORPG experience.

Bless, Albion, MapleStory, Wildstar, Defiance, Neverwinter, Tera…yes I’ll take New World over those, they were not good IMO.

Again anything that’s browser based in the list…meh right off the bat.

WoW Classic, your are pulling a technical…that game is from 2004 and in 2004 it was beast of MMORPGs and WoW in general ruled until I think Wrath, though I did think Legion was pretty good as well, as of late – I can’t argue on WoW’s behalf the game is a shell of its former 17 year old self.

ESO FANTASTIC from a story perspective, I haven’t played the latest expansion though, but yeah pretty nice story experience.

SWTOR fantastic leveling BLOWS away the grind of New World leveling hands down.

Guiild Wars 2 , I died a lot in that game, but its quality.

Rift, another cool one the Rift concept very nice, but Rift kind of had a touch of New World-itis for me in the early days I felt “ok now what do I do?”

The bar isn’t that high, I didn’t stutter

New World is definitely the best MMO I have ever played. This does not make them immune to highly warranted criticism.

A game being infested with bugs and a game being a fantastic game aren’t always mutually exclusive.

This game has issues that people aren’t (and shouldn’t be) willing to overlook. Little bugs here and there can be expected, but countless game-breaking bugs, economy breaking bugs, econ halting, etc… is a massive issue that needs to be addressed by both the community and the developers.

I will continue to play this game because it is the most fun MMORPG I have played since early WoW, but that doesn’t automatically forgive developmental oversight.

Not a troll; read the actual posts in that thread (like many fans, he seems to have a love/hate relationship)

Funilly enough, the bugs NW have is not a concern of mine at all. I am used to dealing with bugs and even exploits in a game. Despite the exaggerated threads being posted about them destroying the game, they are of little consequence. They will be fixed.

My issue is the fundamental designs of the game which currently consist of lots of big grinds without any challenge involved in them to disguise it. MMOs are timesinks by design, but NW’s design fails to make them fun, simply inconvenient (which helpfully opens the door to lots of store items that can be considered Convenience instead of P2W).

I am enjoying myself well enough now, but I don’t see much longevity in the game and so currently don’t really see it as an MMO but simply a game to enjoy in passing.

EDIT: hilarious how many ppl didnt get the OP´s sarcasm btw. says alot about the average forum user.

Will you have 60 hours in the game forever? You mention it in every single 1 of your posts.

That’s what books are for. ESO is humdrum PvE and dumpster fire PvP. It’s the sticky stuff on the bottom of New World’s boots.

ESO pvp was very good, just not if you´re very bad and dont even understand whats happening.
they did make it worse with every patch in the last few years tho.

Did this forum become Twitter?

if this buggy mess is the best…

it has potential, but that potential will never be realized if they keep this up…

LOL

Elder Scrolls Online
Final Fantasy XIV
Black Desert
Blade & Soul
RIFT
SW:TOR
Wildstar

There are dozens MMORPGs that launched in the last decade and are better than New World.

And I am pretty sure you won’t play this game in 5 years because it won’t be around for so long.

I wouldn’t call it the best but it is unique in its own way.

troll corroborator ^

Pretty sure ESO is 100% voice acted and didnt use the same 14 houses for open world content. Also the engine is almost the exact same.
