New World is Too Much Work

Superb post. Well thought out.

I would very much like Squirrels in the game.

I know, not your point, but… come on Squirrels!!!

I think we would all like to see more varied questing. I’d also like to see peddlers out wandering the world… maybe someday.

Wow, even more people coming in here to tell me the game is not for me and my opinions, just because they don’t match yours, are invalid.

I hate to tell all of you this, but this is the GAME FEEDBACK part of the forum. Just because you disagree with it, doesn’t make your opinions any more valid than mine.

I paid for the game and I’ll play it, or not play it, as often or as little as I like, thankyouverymuch.

What game in 2001 looked like this? Seriously, because there wasn’t anything short of a super computer with a rendering engine like Houdini FX or Tekla Structures could have run it back then.

@Shinozuka75 Thanks! This thread was so huge that I actually deleted it here and re-posted it here that was it wasn’t buried under a hundred other replies. Lol.

I WANT IT NOW!!! You think crafting is hard here? You should of tired to craft in FFXI. Failure rate was insane, with each failure, you lost some or even all items, that were super expensive. You were lucky to get a 10th of a skill up point on each craft. You had to face certain directions depending on the element you used, you also had to wait for certain days in the moon cycle and elemental cycle for a better chance at a +1 item. I was the first and only American gold smither on my server. It took over a year to reach, and billions of gil. Just for reference it took the average player months to farm up 1million gil, and I had blown billions. It didnt even become profitable till about the 2-3 year mark. Even then only the +1+2 items made any money, everything else was a massive loss. What were my chances of making a +1 or +2… about 5% lol.

At OP, sorry you are not having fun, you sound pretty miserable. I have a blast running across the zones exploring taking my time.
Ask for your $$$ back take a break man.

For the record, I never said crafting was hard. I said it was tedious, but it’s made needlessly complicated by having to store things in multiple towns.

Exploring is fine, but that’s not what was even being addressed. I am specifically talking about the vast amount of time it takes to run a quest back to a quest giver, with the limited fast travel options. Please reread what I said.

Pretty sure he’s referring about the QoL issues that is 2001-like, not graphics/engine.

siempre va haber gente que lo quiera todo fácil , el wow al principio era así asta que se convirtió en la basura que es ahora que le metes addons y listo . un día le dedicas a una profesión y otro a otra y al final fabricaras las armaduras mas buenas de el juego

I agree with “some” if not most of what you said. There are many ways to improve the game. I’m sure they will continue working to do so. There are things I disagree with, tune down Amrine for one (IMO It’s just where it should be). Dyes should work on outfits from store.
Nice post, and effort, over all for giving your opinions where the game needs improvement.

reference games from 2001…
runescape very similiar
anarchy online similiar
darkage camelot…also similiar

everquest …maybe better in someways with nice houses and great guilds.
I played all with Window XP with a basic 2gb drive.
So lets leave it please.

From Lewis Glass

I love the game for every piece of detail you’ve mentioned man, game is just not for you. You want an easy no brainer, not “adapt overcome and thrive” type of game. It’s still way easier it used to be.

Also, your attitude is absolutely wrong, you want the game to be stripped of details, but only those that you don’t like. Imagine, that if Amazon would do the combat more engaging as you asked for, you would complain that it also requires time from you, it’s pure hypocrisy.

You are trying to make an afk game from it while you got games like that, you got WoW and Neverwinter online, they literally offer what you want man.

Many of things you wrote are completely invalid like the need of grinding azoth to do quests…you are rewarded with azoth for quests, you can drop azoth, you can close corrupted portals in a quick run with people and literally cap it. Resources and their management are important, you need to prepare for fights and do all the stuff, you can’t just spawna and do whatever you want, otherwise it would look like Neverwinter Online. Game looks like this when I played it last time: Get your turbo mount, get a party, pick a map with farmable events that are objectives that you want the game to consist of only, do circles around the map to farm them and stop playing because your game gives only that.

Also…why you want the game to be more engaging when you say you are running low on repair tokens, it would mean that you die A LOT and you can’t go past that…

So gameplay, not looks.

I actually love the travel as I love to explore and gather so it’s a lot of the fun for me. I never use roads when playing solo and just enjoy my hikes to wherever I am going.

So you’re okay with what is essentially a mailman game? You do realize half of this thread disagrees with you. @camerynmaru i disagree with you on some aspects but where we do agree on is questing needs a major overall. Ignore the endgame haters. Keep on trying to improve the game.

There’s a difference between a game being too hand-holdy (World of Warcraft), and a game that obnoxiously gets in its own way for no discernible reason (New World).

I wholehardly agree

Exactly my problem… there is no REASON for some of the things this game limits or imposes upon you on in PVE content, such as the unreasonable travel times. Even just allowing you to fast travel to a town or shrine from anywhere, not from inside another town or shrine, would be a massive improvement. Reducing the inn travel to even 30 minutes instead of 60 would be another. (Apparently it was 20 minutes during beta at one point.)

Thing is, we all KNOW that this game was a PVP game until they started tweaking it for PVE, and that’s the major problem… every issue I have is PVE related. They only went halfway, it feels, on the PVE development. I mean, unless someone finds “travel to the next zone to check 3 boxes and come back to this one” engaging gameplay, sure, I guess that’s fine for them. But not for me, and a lot of other players it seems… and people telling me the game is “not for me” are going to be really disappointed when they find out that the game as it is, isn’t for me OR a lot of other people… but shhh! spoilers!
