what better loot? where?
I agree that this is THE problem. They had the game on sale and a winter event. There should have been a significant increase in participation. Not only does it show a lack of new players but it shows a lack of returning players. I expect even more will drop after the winter event and I believe they see that too. That is why they extended it.
They seem hellbent on doing things their way and not listening to feedback. Not a good outlook for the game’s survivability.
Since alpha, I have frequently commented in game “Another unintended feature…from Protostar!” AGS did better than NCSoft in hiding the depth of end game issues. I knew Wildstar was doomed when the beta was capped at level 30. Dropping the price less than 3 months after release was AGS flinching under the weight of dropping populations. Now we are faced with mutating dungeons and internal objectives designed to stifle progression even more until they can add more and diverse content into Brimstone Sands (the new zone).
Which i posted a comment somewhere else saying they (at this point) should just shut EVERYTHING down and go back to the concept phase figure out WTH they want to achieve…this is dog crap smeared on a mirror…Lets not even begin with “content” lmao… hashed and reused crap again and again… not fun OR entertaining. Quest are 1 of 2 things " Gather" or fetch" Z million times…boring…AF They KNOW PVP(hardcore) doesnt work, and they know and WE know PVE was thrown together as a last ditch effort to bring the “casual” player back…However with that "Player base aka “casuals” NOT even coming back…they REALLY NEED to FIX their crap…
I see Frost being mentioned multiple time as being the game dev head or somebody who focussed on raiding. Frost has no control over the game development direction, he was the face of the company since he voiced the DevSpeak video’s and did a bunch of live streams, but he had no influence at all on where the game needed to go.
He was just doing marketing, since the DevSpeak video’s where so successful in creating buzz about the game.
Wildstar failed because it was too hard for more casual people to play. Their dungeon’s where brutal to them. I remember one guy quitting the game because of the snarky comments that some voice made when you died in the game. ( Reference video: WildStar Resurrection Announcer - YouTube )
Thank you! Sometimes, players just don’t get context do they?
And when they actually removed holocrypt snark because some people could not take it, enough players got angry about that “nerf” they had to add it back. I have to admit it was rather annoying at start, when even starter zones were painfully overtuned or when I died from bug or lag instead of my own fault. But I eventually got fond of it.
Completely agree, same feeling over there, but most people wont see this even coming till “the end”
Also feeling thats the goal is to maintain a part of people enough time that they will still purchase stuff through the store to maximiaze rentability with the less engaging ressources behind in term of developpment and structure cost (servers, etc…)
5 Reasons Why Wildstar Failed (mmosworld.com)
Iots of similarities …
umbral and hardcore rank 10 mutations will be the death of this game unless they figure a way to incentivize people that are at rank 10 to help with lower mutations
Wildstar was a ton of fun.
Guess what then? You don’t have to play the same 2 dungeons 10 times a day then if you don’t want to. Crazy how if they had no orb system or CD that YOU can still choose to run them only 1 time a day then while others may want to do it more than 1 time a day.
So, sound design and lighting? These are the only 2 things NW does better than the other MMOs in the market.
I don’t have hope for the game because the leadership at AGS is completely incompetent when it comes to building a persistent pleasant product. They refuse to learn from their competitors, and are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
nonononononono…
wildstar survived… 2 years? new world won’t survive that long.
Wildstar marketed itself as a hardcore , raid-centric PvE game, and it remained a hardcore raid-centric game for all it’s life.
New world started as a hardcore survival PVP MMO and now turned into an instance-based PvE gear threadmill.
Dev stated they heard our feedback about limited gen/laz tuning orb, and came out with weekly cooldown on mutator orb.
Dev heard our feedback about chest run being the only way to efficiently raise your GS… then they came up with the gypsum system ( instead of scrapping the watermark system) which ‘’‘allowed’’’ you to raise expertise through other means. 1 PvP , 1 crafting, everythingelse PvE… now we have umbral shard, who are only realistically obtainable in high-level mutation… once again going against their previous patch design.
new world design team have no idea what they are doing… Wildstar knew, it just wasn’T popular.
not only have I no reason to do a lower level mutation, but I have a very good reason to find a bunch of sucker to open up low-level mutation for me, ditch them, and save my orb for high-level one with my push group.
this is a lot more toxic than we imagined, and it’ll be worse next week when the playerbase realize it.
I am on a fence to leave. Now with taxes fiasco this is really showing up, that this game is ony for people who own territories and sit on huge pile of gold. These people dont mind bots, that are stealing all the resources.
These people can play invasion/wars for the rest, the peak of the gaming experience is zerg rush daily elite chest.
Game was best fun, when we had 140 people on server during peek - exactly enoug for good war and no bots, cause nobody was buying from them anyway
You might not agree with anything anyone says, but still, Wildstar was far more colorful and had a sense of humor integrated in it’s world and many quests.
New World is too dark and gray for that.
I’m betting the servers are merged together faster and faster and by end of year the game will be taken offline.
I’m guessing further merger consolidation, vast expansion of the in-game store, switch to F2P right after failing to get people to pay for Brimstone Sands expansion then shuttering.
You can’t compare new world to wildstar… Wild star actually had a world that was alive, not to mention content. The world in wildstar actually felt large.
Lol this so much. I almost wanted to make a new topic mentioning this. If anyone played Wildstar. This game is starting to seem more an more like a repeat of that one. Those two, yes you can’t compare them really. However, their overall success is very comparable.
