Imagine being butt hurt over a mini map. Children nowadays will cry over anything.
If you dont want it, dont use it, im not downloading it until approved, which it WILL be. So the tears can stop, I mean I do offer hugs?

Im just saying, Overwolf is known to be bad software. Idgaf about the minimap xD
They finally gave an official answer, it’s NOT allowed
No. A minimap would change the game into another stupid version of LOTRO or F2P games where people just mindlessly follow a radar view of things.
Put it into functional perspective. Why do people use a minimap? You’re not navigating through the game world with it because you can’t see more than say, 200m ahead of you.
Therefore the only thing minimap is used for, is to have a radar view of resources, npc mobs and other players around you.
… and if you have a Minimap that just shows terrain, aka acting as a zoomed in segment of your main map … then you would not be wanting to use it because it gives you no more information than what you can SEE just by looking around the game world and you can just use the map in a split second anyways.
So do not ask for a minimap that will screw the game even more than it is.
They added to the first answer
like I said, ill wait for it to be approved, which will most likely be next patch. Its not worth getting butt hurt over, it’ll either be fixed or people will be banned. big whoop. Imagine this being considered an “unfair advantage”
Pretty much the first thing that came to mind. Not a fan, especially in this type of game with this type of combat.
I don’t even think i need to explain why this is a dumb thing to argue
gtfo.
official statement has been released, not allowed to use the minimap.
thanks for spreading neckbeard wrong information all the time.
This is the conversation I see.
Yeah but he knows all that, has known for days, and he will still pretend this hasn’t been addressed. Either a troll or a cheater
When i made that comment there was no official statement from New World at that time. I suggest pulling your head out of your own arse maybe.
this looks like a bottom rung outsourced employee way overstepping their bounds. I bet he gets in trouble. no way this is an “official response” to the massive mini map issue currently happening.
Massive is a bit of a stretch. Most people are fine with not having a minimap, even more don’t give a crap about whether there is a minimap or not.
The mini map can and does adjust the view based on information it receives from the game. A page you have open in a browser does not. That is your difference. If the mini map doesn’t have access to the coordinates the game provides it loses its function. Simple as that. Without the coordinates it might as well be a page in your browser. It uses the coordinates from the game though so it is much more than just a web page.
The issue isn’t that there is a map showing locations of resources. The issue is there is an add-on (call it whatever you want) that uses data from the game to show those resources in relation to where your character is in the game. Without accessing game data that mini map would be unable to know where your character is and would not adjust the view as your character moves.
@kargen
That is simply not true, while the mini map does use the coords to plot the players icon on the map using a tiny screen cap, the icons for the nodes are stored as POI in a database and are fetched and plotted from a remote server the creator created from known POI, that does not come from the game. At least that is how I understood it, and it is how it has been done in the past.
Yes I understand that part of it. Nothing wrong with looking at a map of resources. Nothing wrong with having an overlay that shows resources. The problem I see specifically is that the mini map knows where the character is based on the coordinates provided by the game and adjusts the view of the mini map accordingly.
Instead of having to stop, click on the map and drag it to your location the mini map does that for you. That is the mini map using game data to track the characters location and in my mind that makes it a third party add-on.
If it were just the overlay and the player needed to interact with it to see nearby resources then yeah all would be good.
@kargen
I don’t understand how you think that because the mini-map can know your location based off the FPS counter - its bad or against TOS or ELUA. That is like saying in WoW that any mod that knows its bumped up against another object in the overlay is bad. I just don’t see you logic. Please explain.
OverWolf access the API of the game and thus it access the memory which is detectable by EAC. Just because EAC doesn’t ban you, doesn’t mean your account won’t get flagged.
DO. NOT. USE. OverWolf.
