Well they ban between 15-20% of the player base because of the dupe bug. Some of these players deserve the ban because they maliciously posting hundreds of thousands of duped items on the TP to crash the economy but most of them got banned just because they either accidentally duped (it’s very easy to do!), bought duped items by accident and some even got banned for reporting the dupe! Meanwhile out of the 20,000ish people still playing several thousands of them are bots and they’re still running around freely destroying the economy and blocking real players from farming which is an important part of the game. Could you imagine if you invite one of your friends to try this game only to see them unable to level up their crafting/gathering because everything is controlled by bots?
One can even argue against permanent bans at this point because of how dangerously low the player base already. If there should be permanent bans they should be for the botters because they’re not real players anyways.
I predict that the player base will still decline slowly unless something major happen in the game like opening 2-3 new areas and probably increase the level cap and new dungeons or even raid.
I haven’t played many MMOs in recent years, but what is the end game like in other MMOs? I was under the impression that people just grind the same handful of dungeons/raids over and over until the developers release new dungeons/raids. Is this incorrect?
No, I don’t think New World can keep new players in the current state. If it could, they would be here.
I believe a lot of the bugs come from builds getting cross contaminated. I believe the lag comes from having too many calculations all happening at the same time. Also too many nested calculations being the cause of both as well.
People giving different reasons because it could and probably is a lot of things, but none of us work for AGS so none of us actually know.
I love the game, played since closed beta. I have a lot of issues with it tbh… The biggest is just a lack of content though. I mainly PvP and mainly play solo. I have an average of 610 GS/expertise(only been earning umbral since February patch). I am doing a daily dungeon and spamming OPR. Aside from that I don’t know what to do with myself…
I came from ESO and love the build in that craft in that game. You literally have no where to play your build though as PvP content is so broken… NW runs like butter in comparison
For me it’s like… PvP is broken and only getting worse, there is no world PvP, I can’t even make my character look how I want, I have no interest in mutations…
FOMO is why you are playing. The idea that the game at some point could be amazing and if you stop playing you are missing out on doing your cooldowns, getting your gear, whatever other daily chores or whatever your goals are. Then if you came back 6 months later you would essentially be starting over with a long grind to go before you caught back up with others.
Last time I checked it still was going down. Compare week to week basis, so Monday last week to Monday next week. I don’t think that Monday next week will have the same amount of players, pretty sure it’ll be lower by 1-2k again.
Excellent post, other game numbers tanked because they felt that you could just stick in endless grinds, trivial rewards and a bit of FOMO on top and the players would still stay loyal, nowadays though its a saturated market, if your not having fun, you hop to another game until you do really.
Its sad because the game had probably more potential than other MMOs of the genre in years, but the game directorship and management has let it down hard enough on top of the obviously buggy engine and the fact they released it in a clear beta state.
I was 400+ hrs into the game and I felt that I had no choice but to quit because of AGS doing the same attitudal stuff ive seen on other MMOs ignoring the playerbase repeatedly and then fixing problems that no one had,
We were saying we absolutely hate dungeon orbs, have they gone yet ? No, its a barrier to enjoyment, you want to log on and do dungeons you have to craft first, ridiculous,
You could see crafting was painful, they doubled down on that and made it worse and more expensive for players who weren’t quick to level it at the beginning which irked me hard at the time.
Watermark/Expertise grinding served no real purpose either, might as well have added it onto levelling of weapons and armour, especially then nerfing peoples live gear.
It had so much potential this game but it just seems painful for all the wrong reasons.
Played since day 1, gs 622 and all trading skills 200, i like the game, but whatever happens i wont recommend it to a new player. Only grinding 500 to 600 than 600 to 625 takes weeks. Until gs620 at least. You are nothing. I dont want to mention if you are crafter. Market already sell items very pricey. This game is not suitable anymore for a new comer.
They really just need to fix the desync any way possible. Rework weapons and abilities if you must but it just has to be fixed. I don’t care if the game is exploitable because they rely more on the client for a fix, just do it and ban people who abuse exploits.
Second they need to add repeatable ranked PVP modes. There are super easy cheap ways to do this.
Let OPR que across servers. This will make the queues faster and let people on low pop servers still play.
Add ranked version of OPR in a 10v10 format. This would be based on company. You and 9 other company members could queue into this ranked OPR to play against other companies. Add ranking latters with MMR and show companies current rating on their profile. Add rewards based on company rating, skins, weapons, company crests, etc. players must have their own personal rating behind the scenes to block players from joining companies to get rewards instantly.
Change the way influence is pushed so it isn’t as much of a grind that no one wants to do. It should be some sort of event with a scheduled time frame where players can earn the dec. This could be a really fun opportunity for large scale battles that people look forward to. People are tired of running factions missions.
