Last year when the game released i was sadly 1 of the misfortunate people who’s rtx 3090 died when launching New World. Ever since i got i new card i didnt want to risk installing the game again and have a second card die on me.
My question is if it save now for rtx 3090’s to play new world again?
everything i read about it pre dates November 2021 and it still states the issue persists.

I play with an rtx 2070 super and the game runs well for me, generally above 100 fps and I run it in 2k. If you had a problem with the game, it is more likely that your card was defective.
The problem was with that particular batch of cards that were released with thermal throttling issues. Since then new world has created controls that can prevent the issue even if you have a card with the malfunction.
But if you have one of the same one in this series, they should have replaced it with a corrected one.
hi! with my old pc which had a 2080 ti i didnt have much problems either! but the pc was slow so i got a new 1 which had the rtx 3090 and that 1 got bricked. and the card worked perfectly with other games but died when i launched new world. it didnt even make it to the menu.
Weren’t those cards faulty?
Regardless of how any game requires from video card, there was a lot of video cards with soldering issues as was stated on re-branded cards, such as Zotac. So with that problem and game requiring a lot of the GPU triggered some unforeseen faults.

As our folks mentioned already (and thanks a lot for your contributions by the way), there was a batch of graphics cards with some problems that were triggered with the GPU usage from the game at that moment.
I can guarantee you that the game is safe to play, but if you still feel hesitant, you can contact the manufacturer of your graphics card and ask them for additional questions like for example, if the graphics card you have right now is not from the batch of affected cards.
