New world Stamina recovery during blocks and stamina breaking attack for blocking and grab to bypass blocks

This post showcases game mechanics and attack type for a new world, incorporating these would add complexity to the combat and make it a top-tier PVP game.

How the New changes will add to Pvp positively
During Pvp when a solo player is versing multiple opposing players they use block very often.
Versing multiple players the solo player gets stamina broken easily.
With a stamina recovery, the player would be able to draw out slightly longer against multiple players.

Changes to blocking In New World:

During Block In New world:

  • There can be 2 percent stamina regen when blocking at the same recovery of drinking water

  • more perks can be designed to do with blocking, 4 percent stamina regen when blocking etc

Slow Stamina Regen while blocking:

with the new stamina regen when blocking, these are more addtions to combat in new world:

different things the player can do on an opponent that blocks:

  • (1) Player would attack repeatedly to break the opposing players block

( Their heavy attacks would do more damage than their light attacks )

  • (2) The player can grab the opposing player to go through their block
    ( the grab would not be a skill but part of new world combat design, and the grab can be used anytime, by all weapon types)

Grab attacks to go through block
The grab doesnt break the players block, it bypasses it completely to damage the opposing players health, to dodge this type of attack, the opposing player would roll out of its range or use counter. This would be a good addition to new world for players that block a lot.

Example:
grit Grab ( heavy grab ) and Non grit Grab ( light grab )

The grab will have grit and non grit variations.
the non grit , the user can be staggered when using the attack.

The grit variation this grab is slower but the user cant be staggered when
using the grab attack.

example of grab attack:

Light and Heavy grab:

  • In New world the grab will have light grab this would have no grit, however this grab will be more faster

  • The heavy grab will have grit, however this grab will be slower

  • For the player to use the light grab they would press the button, to use the heavy grab they would hold the button.

  • all weapon types would be able to use grab

( players can choose the different grab types, and when a player is using the grab they will be invulnerable, other players / monsters cant damage them )

  • (3) Push attacks light and heavy, the heavy push attack can break a block with 1 hit

New type of attack to push players and break their block with 1 hit:

Push Attack To Cause Guard Break
This attack doesn’t do any HP damage, but

  • it pushes opposing players,

  • and breaks their block. ( when they are blocking )

The Heavy Push Attack does
more damage to the stamina of the opposing player that’s blocking.
than the light push attack

Push attack showcase light and heavy:

  • Light push attack would push the opposing player 300 mm backwards

  • Heavy push attack would push the opposing player 600 mm backwards

  • the opposing player thats blocking can roll out of the attack’s range or use counter
    to negate the push attack

  • all weapon types would be able to use push attack

  • Player using rings to boost push attack’s stamina damage.
    ( in new world these can be perks and accessories )

How push attack is different than light and heavy attack:

  • The push attack pushes the opposing player, if they were by the edge of a mountain they would fall backwards

Grab and Push attack:

  • these attacks would not work on larger than humanoid-sized monsters

Different type of blocking and stamina recovery:

Tap blocking In Absolver: the player lets go off block before they are hit by light attack or heavy attack, to regain stamina, the player presses block ( instead of holding block) when the opponent’s attack is about to connect each time.

Plunging attack feature for New world

plunging attack damage multiple players:

plunging attack defeats player with 1 hit: ( melee weapon )

example fire staff plunging attack:
the fire staff players plunging attack would activate a fire circle when their staff
makes contact with the ground: damaging multiple players that touch the flames
fire staff plunging attack: effect burn damage to all enemies that touch the fire circle

void gauntlet plunging attack:
the void gauntlet players plunging attack would summon a dark void orb from the ground, when the void gauntlet player leaps off the edge and damage all players inside of it.
void gauntlet plunging attack: effect take health from enemies and give hp and mp back to the user

ice gauntlet plunging attack:
the ice gauntlet players plunging attack would summon ice spikes from the ground, when the ice gauntlet player leaps off the edge, it would damage all players inside of its spikes.
ice gauntlet plunging attack: effect slow all enemies that it damages

Life staff plunging attack:
the life staff plunging attack would cause a green smokey mist to be summoned When the life staff player leaps off the edge and damage all players within its smoke
Life staff plunging attack: effect Inflicting damage to other players would buff the users own healing effects for 10 seconds.

  • Plunging attack is an aerial critical attack that deals 80 percent damage can defeat a player with 1 hit if their health isnt high enough.

  • the condition to use a plunging attack is when the player is on a higher elevation or platform
    example stairway, box of crates, on fort walls, on a rock, and the opposing player is on a lower platform.

  • player can only use a plunging attack when falling from higher platforms
    ( plunging attacks are not like jumping attacks or aerial attacks as those can be used anytime when the player jumps)

  • plunging attacks cant be countered

  • the plunging attack can damage all players that the weapon makes contact with
    ( a player would be able to defeat multiple players during wars and outpost rush )

  • Melee weapon and Gauntlet, Staff Weapons would have different plunging attack animations and plunging attack effects unique to their weapon

  • all weapon types would be able to use plunging attack

During wars and outpost rush battles take place on different elevations high and low, adding in a plunging attack would be a positive to new world.

it mostly works like this already, the only difference being stamina not regenerating while holding block.
This is a good thing, your change would be awful and would make tanking hilariously OP.

it wouldn’t ,the skills , the heavy and charged heavy would do greater damage to the stamina meter. Than the light attack. In New world players can attack continuously without stamina
if they want to break the opposing players guard they would attack continuously.

this is exactly how it works now. accept you don’t recover stamina while blocking. As a tank If i did it would be broken.

The heavy attacks do more damage to the Stamina of the blocker. it works exactly like that now.

the heavy attacks already do a LOT more than light attacks.

the stamina recovery would be very slow, the same speed of healing when drinking water.
the stamina recovery would be good in these gameplay moments, were player versus
mobs of players. In Those gameplay moments players use block a lot.

Players already use the block feature often(at least they should). a very small amount of stamina regen would be useless. it’s just fine how it is

without stamina recovery during blocks versing multiple players, they would easily be
stamina broken, with the stamina recovery they would be able to hold out.

If it was “similar to water regen” but for stamina it would be slow and useless. multiple players would mow through your shield with or without the regen. You shouldn’t be able to just hold block against multiple players LMAO

You definitely have to kite them and play around obstacles to win that, not sit there and hold block.

I replied to your post , expanded on it, The stamina recovery.
Your version was based on non action rpg, this is attuned with more action rpg
game play. Except this feature would be for all weapons that can block.

Dodge swing use ability … Viola stamina is restored it isn’t hard your dummying down the game using the same mechanical already in place adding a stamina Regen component that is already there.

This is bad idea for pvp as it gives tank an additional advantage over melee against light armor melee who have to wear down the tanks stamina

This is a bad idea for PvE as spear and shield npcs would take even longer to wear down

This is bad for groups as content is less reliant on a properly geared group and more reliant on tanks

This is a bad idea for skill perks as well that are based around stamina… this also dummies down the game as gear and weapon choices don’t penalize or reward characters for their gear choices.

Then what about Mortal Energy perk? It restore stamina by 14 on 600 GS weapons on kill. It do not trigger when someone else kill a monster but if change it to condition like for eksample if monster attancion is on you and your teammate kill it you still recover stamina. Then it still woudnt be owerpowered but give tanks a way to recover pasivly so they could stand a litle longer. It would not change much on PvP scene but give a litle more adventage for tanks on pve. How do you like it?
