Worth to note is that Subscription was turned off for the problematic period, not sure if they popped it on already. Secondly…forums are forums, like here, there will also be toxic players but I really can’t see normal people not filtering such posts and going to more quality one. I mean, if someone asks a question for example or tells something or asks for improvement, and all he gets is rage, hate etc. Normal person just scrolls that type of post to search for normal answer no?
I’m not saying their forums are great, that could be improved but from my life experience I know that such players vanish quickly due their own rage. Sub will also lower number of such people, it’s a matter of time to settle. Absolutely not defending game community, it’s just not stable yet since official release is very fresh.
As to game behaviour, still, I think that if someone is that turbo toxic kid, that just kills as much as he can, pointlessly just to make someone life worse, playerbase will eat him.
We’ll see. Market is missing good open games, people instead of developing them make tons of shitty ones without purpose, just to take money bags and go away, just look on NW hype, people thought it will be like that. Then Lost Ark came - hype there. MO2 - hype here (although game wasn’t properly advertised, heard of it by accident)
got Good feelings and I hope for good competition and people doing their job well in keeping the game playable. Also MO1 was in pretty toxic times, even UO PVP servers weren’t that bad from what I heard
I want MO2 to do good and I am not shitting on the game for what it is, full loot open pvp. I agree there needs to be options out there and us MMO players are damn limited in that department right now.
So, apologies for jumping on some of my personal pain points with MO2, I do hope it turns out to be a good experience for everyone.
Lost Ark however, is a Pay for Convenience cash shop cow. Every activity you do is time gated and the shop sells you the key. Beyond that it’s just follow the dotted line spam complete all the quests and watch every monster from here to Narnia explode from you just looking in their general direction.
Sadly that leaves New World, which was basically unplayable for the past 3 weeks due to roster, movement and lag detected issues coupled with extremely gated content and nothing to do anymore but farm a magic GS number. The freedom to do anything in NW was removed with all the time gating to the point you need to schedule every activity in game like a children’s play date.
Same logic can be applied to toxic PVE players, no?
See in my experience, the best way to see what the community is about is to look at game’s community wiki. MO series have been in existence for 12 (?) years and its community wiki has whopping 262 pages. It has been explained to me as follows:
If I believe this explanation (I don’t, EFT, DayZ, Rust are all as cutthroat and have wikis that are 20 times larger), this means that the community is non-existent (disjoined guilds doing utmost to keep info secret =/= community) and game is essentially DOA because in 6 months time nobody is going to join a game where you have to fly blind in a hostile environment with everyone already far ahead of you (unless you join a guild before buying a game)
Btw, don’t think I am hating on MO2. I believe everyone should have a game they want to play so it is great that some like this sort of thing and I wish them best of luck (personally I don’t but I am obviously casual carebare weeb so that’s ok).
The game is ass, the graphics haven’t changed since the first, the gameplay hasn’t changed since the first, there’s usually 10k or less players.
The reviews may be “ok” but there’s alot less people reviewing than the NW community gives a false sense of “the game is good”
“It took just few days for the team to provide new servers to drop down the queues (Ok, I’ll stop with pointing out obvious things)”
It took star vault 2.5 months to release alternate mainlands (that don’t have guild function or trading post activated, and have decreased resources compared to the main myrland). And que times for the mainland prior to this were multiple days (DAYS) as well…to the point where the devs said to not leave the noob island and they would add more content for people to do on haven.
I can see you like the game, but please try to give an unbiased report (there wasn’t even any cons in your OP).
I feel like someone should make an escape from tarkov-like full loot action mmo RPG. You pick your load out before each raid. All the mobs and players are full loot. If you die you lose your stuff. Instance PvP is nice because it limits zerging and you cannot loss all your progress at once or when you are offline.
They have system to help with ping differences which isnt bad still better to have 0 ping but there not a game breaking issue with higyh ping from what ive been able to see so far
PvE in MO2 actualy better then NW imo every been picked up by a troll and used as a club on your allies thats was a surprise when that happened, along with crafting and the economy.
PvP is more frequent in NW then MO2 aswell however might change when territory control becomes a thing. PvP in MO2 feels more meaningful though
MO2 has less grinding however somewhat less thing to do atm aswell although ur not timegated via orbs and RNG and things thats was the case in NW
Go ask Henrik Nystron…
“But without a doubt the three MMOs I enjoyed the most and have drawn considerable inspirations from are UO, SWG and EVE. Coming from those games, you’ll recognise quite a bit in Mortal Online 2.”
Interview on MMO games.
Easy to tell if you have played both. So easy that it is insulting to see it being asked by someone who hasn’t! If you had then you wouldn’t need to ask. It is that obvious. I am more likely to walk into the empire state building as that giant structure is easier to miss than the inspiration for MO.
