New World Won't Launch Steam Fix!

note1: could break computer per other users response, for me disabling only EntryProtect Service by SentryBay allowed me to play.
note2: disabling all services may cause some other applications to not function properly so keep that in mind, you may have to slowly re-enable them to find which one is actually preventing new world from launching.

This fix is for if you are trying to launch New World and it says Play, you click Play, and then nothing happens after a few seconds.

I tried everything from uninstalling, reinstalling, verifying game integrity, etc etc.

Type msconfig into the windows search bar and press enter.

On the General Tab, de-select load startup items, then click apply.

Then click the Services tab and click Hide All Microsoft services at the bottom. This hides the essential services that microsoft/windows needs.

Then click disable all. This will disable all non essential windows services. We do need Easy Anti-Cheat though so click that one to re-enable it.

Click apply and then restart your computer.

After this, I was able to launch new world.

Turns out that EntryProtect Service by SentryBay was stopping the game from launching for some reason.

Disabling this let me launch the game.

Can confirm this solution works. I was having the same issue. The desktop shortcut created by steam gives an error message for some reason but launching from steam library works, although the load time for the game is a bit long. Thanks for the post!

Be carefull when you follow these steps. I did it and the PIN feature at start of windows broke down and I couldn’t log in anymore. I had to restore my windows to a previous version

I’ll emphasize that I DID hide the essential services before disabling all other windows services.
