New Worlds spell animations and combat is really low quality compared to older mmos

New world has great atmosphere and good graphics over all for the word. The mobs, although very repetitive and character graphics are pretty good as well but…

I don’t know how people can argue for one second that the combat especially the magic graphic animations, diversity and feel over isn’t just really outdated and awful for a game produced in this day and age by one of the wealthiest companies on the planet.

Guild Wars 2 is a prime example of a way older game that has stellar combat animations, spells and over all much more fun combat then in New World. I could name many other mmos as well that are leagues above this game in this way.

I am literally just focusing on mainly the spell and skill animations and limited spells and skills. The basic combat mechanics are pretty good. The combat style, movements, blocking, weapons ect, bows, guns are pretty good.

The combat skills are where it gets weird…its limited, clunky and repetitive. It just feels outdated. The skill trees seem limited as well. I think it generally lacks diversity and a sense of direction.

…but the magic weapons and magic in general is by far the worst part of the game. I feel like I am in the early 2000’s. The problem is:

1. The spell graphics themselves are just low pixel bad and do not fit the game at all. Everything is perfectly circular blob of color.

2. Healing could easily have been made to look better. Its just so bad looking on the eyes and it feels very boring and limited to play besides the fact that its constantly been overpowered.

3. The boring played out fire, ice, shadow, holy or whatever they will do next seems like a stuck in the past boomer made it up. Its just so unimaginative. How did this get approved?
   I mean really. They could have made the magic so cool to match the vibe of the atmosphere of the game. Something original even. Voodoo healing, necromancy, alchemy or sorcery with trippy looking magical effects.

4. This aspect of the game just came across as low effort for this studio. There actually mobs in the game that do have some cool looking magic. They could have done it easily but they had to put more effort into the cash shop I guess.

Amazon really this is 2022 huh?

I think they could fix it but they would have to overhaul an entire aspect to the game and I think its just too late at this point and they wont.

well also combat system is very primitive lol quite no 2022 feeling but more like 2006

Yeah i am still flabbergasted at Incinerate animation looking so weird.
And yeah magic weapons in this game just straight up suck, life staff and void gauntlet seem ok but thats just because void gauntlet literally changes itself to a melee weapon.
Fire staff and Ice gauntlet ckunky and weird to use.

I do sort of agree, but at the same time i think the current mage attacks fit the game’s style more. Some do need a bit of a rework though (wind chill, incinerate, baleful tether)
