New/Returning players

i know wow had Normal,PvP and RP servers before they made them all normal lol
idk if a RP server would succeed but i mean they could test it like they can pvp servers

maybe a fix for this would be they could add weapon specific quests that give the player and that specific weapon xp

yeah thats the issue the world pvp is fun and all while you level on a populated server but for example, i watch Xaryu play and he gets into alot of open world pvp while hes lvling but once you hit 60 it dies out, if you do see people toggled its a group of them and its cause they doing a chest run or something. they dont really have anything like Great Cleave when the pvp track came out, if you missed that you missed a fun time!

I tell you what. I have seen the tenacity of some hardcore roleplayers in my time playing various mmos. I’m pretty sure if there was just one designated rp server it would have at least some population until the game goes off line.

I mean that is true but they would also need to add more stuff in the game to give players like that something to keep playing for.

They also need to do a better job with achievements with rewards and collectables (like they had with the corrupted rabbit chest)

No.

Why?

New World is still empty and shallow.
Running the same dungeons over and over again to make gold and shards is not content.
It has no meaningful PvP, open world PvP is dead.
You are forced to run certain perks, both in PvP and PvE.

Currently, I am only sticking to it as my brother plays it and I met some nice people.

I’d stick to it for longer if they’d provide a good vision for PvP and fix the client and server performance issues.

yes it seems like they arent focusing on pvp that much. I stated in a previous reply that they need to hire a whole team specifically for PvP and PvE so they can work on both not 1 or the other.

Oh yeah, very much agree. Since launch I’ve felt like this game has some really solid foundations that Amazon could/should build on. And they have, though I do wish their progress was a little faster. Still, they’ve done alot and I really want them to keep moving forward like they seem to… Just faster.

I don’t have much patience.

I would also highly… highly enjoy a separation of PVE and PVP character builds. I hate (and am probably not the only one) being constantly nerfed in one game mode because of balance in another.

Pre-amble: quit shortly after November or so last year, and logged on grab a few event drops basically. I was extremely disgruntled with the customer support despite not having run afoul of them, and back then Frazzle Dazzle was in charge so the game’s direction was… ah, not this bright.

  1. I think they’ve ironed out a lot of small problems, and appended on to systems that needed appendage. Heartrunes are a good example of an idea I hoped to see implemented! But I do think they need to get some flair to the rest of the player experience, not just the NPE.

  2. Well obvo get rid of the canned customer support. Like hello, these guys are all but actively sabotaging the game. Secondarily though I’d like to see more main healer options, some more open world events, and I’d like to see quests be a bit more varied. I get they’ll all be ultimately ‘kill/gather for xp,’ but we can spin those formulae even so.

  3. I probably will to be honest. I’ve tried a lot of other things but the active combat plus the explorability of the world will probably keep me just back to NW anyway. I intend to buy it on sale for my wife, so we can stomp around with beeg wepon in pretty world. Unga.

New world still has server specific OPR right? I’m having fun now but if the OPR queues are too long I’ll just quit again. WOW has had cross server BGs since 2006 btw. The fresh server I’m on now is listed as high so maybe it will be ok.

Also OPR being lvl 60 only is lame.

Yea trying to speed level to do real pvp content is meh.

Finally a voice of wisdom in a sea of fanboy shills! This game should have more pvp focus, not one and done pve locust content that will have players leave again in a month like last time. Pvp has replay value. Pve is constantly needing new content or locust plague moves on

they said they will be testing cross server opr soon to start thn bring it to other things in the future, hopefully the near future

Like i said a couple times they need 2 full teams 1 for only PvP and 1 for only PvE that way they can work on stuff independently lol

Yes but will they? Their motto is well not enough people do pvp because it stinks, so no point in making pvp better and elaborating on pvp content…

Yet one cant help but wonder…if they made better pvp content, would more people run it?

I will be shocked if the player population doesnt drop back down below 50,000 by 2023

They dont understand that PvE content can only get you so far, PvP content if its good has the replay ability that you cant get with PvE content.

This game isnt like other mmos where you have alts that you redo content on. this game you really only need 1 character so alot of the PvE content once people have done it till they dont need to do it anymore they have no reason to do it now.

That is where PvP takes over until more PvE is added, you can have seasons, leaderboards, titles, armor etc… that you can earn each season. PvP isnt just a left click its more engaging and if done right it could be amazing.

and for the people that dont want to pvp they need to add collectables and feel good achievements and stuff like that. The corrupted Rabbit event was a small lil event that had a corrupted rabbit chest (shit never dropped for me…) that was a cool collectable and they havent done another one… They could of had a really cool Halloween collectable that we could farm like the rabbits! they dont take advantage of the things they are doing or did well. I mean look at wow they have a halloween event (just using this one as an example but they have many events) where you can run a dungeon to get a mount that takes people multiple years to get because they dont get lucky they keep doing it tho because they want that mount.

For all the changes that NW has seen it’s essentially the same circus as it was during launch for me.

FSS are going through a lot of the same issues that OG servers went through pre-transfer era.
Forums are still full of super toxic people spamming “just leave” or “play on servers in different regions” in response to even legitimate bugs or server concerns
Bugs and balancing issues still seem to be a thing with endgame PVP/loot, not as serious as some of the launch issue ones but still a pain to power through

I did ~300 from launch until I quit(I stopped when the orb gobbling issue was going on).
then
I recently put 40hrs in and I’m tapping out again.

I like the fresh stuff NW world does with combat and crafting but the world still feels a little empty and having to use the forums to keep up to date is a major vibe killer. I did esports from the time I was fresh out of HS until I was in college at 25 so having to keep up to date with patch notes or bugs/issues isn’t a foreign concept to me, but this forum in particular is just very poorly organized/executed to easily keep track of currently known bugs or even current server statuses. Mix in all the people who pop into threads and topics just to spam ‘we’ll we don’t want you here’ or are just generally toxic to new or returning players with negative NW feedback or critiques and it’s not a very Gucci experience.

As far as what I’d like to see change:
Maybe a blog or different info presentation format where you aren’t forced to use an open forum to beg for support attention. If I could just see a hotlist of known bugs and accurate server info(I don’t see the sense in ppl having to use NWDB b/c the official server status page, the actual servers, and the forums all state different info) I’d have a much easier time playing. Maybe it’s just really bad rn b/c of the FSS rollout but for the brief time I returned it was a New World, but the same failed state.

I’m also heeding the call of my old raid group wanting to play WoW again.
We wanted to be FSS Chads but quickly saw things going about the same as the initial launch and decided to go back to WoW as a group. I find the gameplay less engaging but we’re all stoked to try and catch up and progress together since Shadowlands got rolled into the standard WoW license for free.

I agree here It is such a pain trying to find stuff on the forums it seems like you almost have to dig for stuff that should be easily found.

It is SO much better than before. And it was already pretty damn good, just had too many bugs and dupes. Too much grind.

Another large scale pvp mode like OPR or at least a new map.

I see myself playing for the foreseeable future.

Yeah so far i havent really heard of any major bugs like before
