Sad truth is, Flamethrower is cheesy and requires no aim.
While ranged attacks are too weak despite one having to land shots more often consistently to come halfway near to damage of e.g. Musket, Bow, Blunderbuss.
Yes, Firestaff has aoe abilities. But those provide nothing in small scale PVP compared to other weapons’ CC, damage or utility.
Also all abilities only burn a single target despite hitting several.
Ofc im ganna talk about actually landing hits c’mon bro xD … Naaaah thats not true dude, you still have to land hits with a bow to do good damage, I mean hatchet is auto lunge im not a fan of left click larrys but thats a different discussion =p out of curiosity how good is your gear?
As for killing healers, bro there’s very few turbo geared builds that could take down a geared healer and even then they probably need plagued strikes.
where did you see these nerfs? or have they been in for a while
I’m sick to my stomach with how far behind firestaff is.
Flamethrower is a threat with high INT, but it’s boring and unrewarding.
It shows up the rest of the spells a lot.
And whats with my fireballs disappearing up peoples ass 50% of the time!
if it hits somebody dodging, fabulous they avoided it, but how hasn’t it splashed and done the AOE damage? Where’s the ground DOT?
Why can’t I suck the gravity well up my ass if I dodge it???
Also, brash gem doesn’t seem to work on incinerate, was excited about testing that last night
Seriously, people like fire and magic.
AGS about to lose 2K+ players, and miss out on 50K players long term with Brimstone launch.
It. Plays. Crap.
I think I see the problem. Someone has been spreading rumors about burnout because of nwdb.info and it spread somehow. The website lists live as:
and lists PTR as:
It’s not actually accurate info. Someone has been going around saying burnout is capped at 5% on the PTR and spreading this rumor. Why anyone belived this? You can check on PTR anytime and it’s not capped at 5%!!!
Mages play FT couse if you compare it to skill like pillar of fire you have almost same dmg over time but one is super easy to land, no skill, while other does require much skill.
Its bad desing by devs. Fact is that easy to land skills should to small dmg/cc and big dmg/cc skills should require skill to land.
So if FT does lets say 700dmg per tick and it does tick 2x per second its 1400 dmg per second. 84k dmg per minute.
Now pillar of fire on single target i would assume its like 2,5k dmg per second and CD would be like 7.5sec with perk. Lets even assume we have some other perks to make it 5sec CD. ITs 30k dmg per minute.
This numbers are not correct since to many variables and dont wana sit on it longer than needed. Just showing that they make no sense. For them to make sense they should be like 70k on FT and 100k+ on pillar of fire.
Then it would make sense to risk taking pof over FT. Way it is now all fire mages have to go with FT if they want optimize damage.
PS. There is only one case scenario where PoF is better. Many enemies that you can always hit 2-3 and its to risky to get close with FT. So you have like 1.5sec CD or even instant CD on PoF, and it would result in dmg like 100k+
Brimstone Sands update with the new Heartstone (Heartrune? Heartgems? forgot the name already lol) and Runeglass gems + great sword being added and some new items and things… is going to shift the meta. Will probably need a month or so after that is released before expecting any sort of balancing imo.
I literally play Flamethrower only because it’s a fun cheese ability. Not cause I think it’s good. I die more often than not and the dmg output is very rarely worth the risk.
If I hit heavy autos or even light autos with the burning perk I’ll do almost the same damage(maybe 10%? less), but I’m miles away from being in meele range.
People just notice the flamethrower more cause it’s the only thing that will get u kills on a mage xD
Yep. FT dmg is less you can get from AA, but you have to land this AA. But in mele range combat you cant aa since there is that stupid slow movment after each so every time your character looks like can use some toilet in hurry. So you get axe into your face.
While you FT people lot of them panic just by looking own healtbar, so slow movment isnt a big deal when you play mage.
Fact is that FT is great to support team in close combat when you are not focused and rlly good to send a message to a mele pushing you “f… off mate”. Thats why mele players don’t like it. Its tool mages do have to push them back if they are not good with their build.
I’m also out of this discussion.
if you think FT is prioritized to rack up damage in a full War/OPR you’re really out of your mind.
The reward risk scenario is so not in favor it’s hilarious to even see someone writing that.
In Wars as mage you don’t die. Ever. Otherwise your dps drops down MASSIVELY. And the same goes for opr.
If you think light or heavies are hard to hit at medium range then maybe you’re really that bad.
The main use of FT is to tilt people, nothing else lol. And I gladly get a worse ranking using it.
