No one flags for PvP

Amazon, just hire this random person. He may have no experience making games but he will make better decisions than you. Have a great day.

I still think that it would be amazing if they bring something like Warhammer Online PvP, lake section. PvP automatically flags you when you enter this area.

I started a similar topic some time ago and i agree. PVP as it stands now is the weakest part of the game. In every other mmo i have played this far pvp was far more fun. What NW lacks are 2 things, a pvp ranking system and pvp instances for all levels. The ranking system keeps it fair to some degree, and the pvp instances allow every player from early to late game to participate and hone their skills.

I have tried flagging myself for some time (between level 15 and 20). I usually got destroyed either by players levels above me or by people running around in pvp groups. Or i was the one running around in a group and it was the other way around. Both experiences are not fun. It almost made me quite the game, because the loudly advertised pvp aspect was one of the main points that got me intrested. Now i will slug my way through to level 60, and hopefully will be able to have some decent pvp then, though i will get completly oblitered since i had no chance to really learn how pvp works in this game beforehand.

I posted this in another post:

I will say, the game was pvp centric and it doesnt feel like there is any risk at all. i am not saying you should have to flag at all times like OP but wouldnt it be fun if:

  1. You flagged automatically for the duration of gathering acitivties
  2. You flagged automatically going into certain areas. Say for elite mob farming or special resources. Nothing that breaks the game progression but if you/your guild can camp it then you earn the high risk high reward
  3. you auto flag for special events - Like corruptions or special world bosses. I get a warning when I am leaving a corruption, it would be easy to give me a warning entering an area as well.

I feel these things would not be game breaking, progression breaking and would promote some variance in gameplay (pve and pvp) and would promote guilds working together for either farming groups or special area holding for 1-2 hours or something like that.

For those that say they dont like PVP, I hear you but these would be in locations easily visible on your map (other than nodes but you would know to look around prior to “tapping”) it does break up the game monotony and these wouldnt be game altering.

For those that say they dont like PVE, I hear you and these would add some elements where you could PVP and you can see on your map (other than nodes) where PVP could be taking place.

Just a thought: maybe if you kill a person within 5 levels of you at a node, you earn a 10% to luck for that gathering (or 25% speed for gathering that type) for 10 minutes or until killed. Something that would make it fun and worthwhile and not just mindless. But keep it within levels so to not be killed at lvl 20 by a 60 (for buff farming), so the buff would be say, 10% at same level and drops by 2% each level away from the lowest persons level …something like that

That’s a prime example for pvp-players just wanting to prey on pve-players, and not looking for honorable fair fights or meassuring of ones abilities.

So you’re not here to beat on dumb AI, but you’re mad that you’re getting beat on by other players who are higher level then you in a game with pvp scaling?

Sounds like the game you’re looking for is GW2’s SPVP system.

Pvp players dont gather? And you would be “vulnerable” for 5 seconds…

Shouldn’t there be some risk in a pvp centric game? Shouldnt there be some risk for resource gathering in a pvp centric game?

It cannot be that hard to spin around and see if anyone is around you prior to gathering?

I didnt even see what you replied.

All good my friend, enjoy your day

no, i didn’t come to this game for the pvp. if you want nonconsensual pvp, you can go play eve online and suicide gank newbies in the starting systems.

In early alpha this was a completely different game (in regards to PvP). You can blame the PvPers for ruining it for everyone else.

There should be risk … for PVP-Players. PVE-Players want their risk from mobs, not players. You don’t have to understand that, just accept it.

i don’t know about the luck machics in the game, but the XP-Bonus is already there. And the only reason we can’t give pvp-players big xp for player kills is because pvp-players would just endlessly abuse that system.
So again most problems pvp-players cry about are purely selfmade! How about changing yourself instead of changing the game for pve-players to suit pvp-needs!

That would alienate the pvers. I personally would not object to being flagged pvp when gathering in another factions territory as to me the factions need to be more integral to the game and have meaning, but then, while I am a pver I am not vehemently against pvp, I just hate the ganking that tends to go on.

GW2 PvP is mindless. You don’t have to aim your attacks

Why would you flag for PvP if not explicitly trying to do PvP. You just invite getting steamrolled by drive by PvP gank squads. Nobody ever starts a fair fight so why put a flag on saying “I want to be griefed”?

No shortage of PVP flags on my Server. Actually there is nearly always a PVP flagged corruption portal group running on my server almost 24/7. Multiple factions doing this.

I see PVP flagging as a server based issue. Some servers are dead for PVP some Alive. I come from one of the smaller low pop servers but we have plenty of PVP going on.

This is important, a big part of the problems with pvp isn’t about problems with the game, but problems with the pvp-player base. Either they are to few, or they don’t like pvp against other capable pvp-players. The first problem could be remedied with pvp-servers, the second one can’t be remedied exept giving pve-player an insane incentive to flag up and endure the ganking (and that would be followed by many resulting problems)

This is why they stopped working on a pvp survival game. No one actually wants their plans ruined by some russian guy that wants to pick a fight with you with his 20 level advantage. People want to gather and kill stuff alone and in peace. Well, most MMO players do. They knew this game would not survive if they stayed with their original plans.

PvP scaling was nice in the beta. The damage was scaled so a level 10 would do huge amounts of damage to a max level player. So they at least had a chance.
