Why would they do that, when they gave multiple signs that they don’t care about PvPers?
I’d go as far and say that they’re killing the game on purpose or at least extracting the maximum value with minimum effort, which is basically killing it on purpose.
-30.63% average players drop in the last 30 days and the December ain’t over yet. Come June 2023 the game will tank below 10k average players.
The next blow will be delivered on the 27th this month, where we’ll get a Director’s Preview for Throne and Liberty.
Meanwhile I see more and more PvP WoW-content from former NW streamers on YouTube, and I am not even interested in WoW. This is how bad the situation is.
I suggest to pick up a different PvP game until a new MMO comes out.
We did what we could as (PvP) players. I came back to support NW for a couple of months despite all of its flaws and the bad launch experience and also bought some skins, but enough is enough.
That excacly what they are doing. Leaving min dev team to keep game alive as long as they can to milk more $. But they moved most devs to new mmo project already.
What they didnt account for is if NW die couse amazon didnt give a f… about providing content to keep it alive, noone every will buy any game from amazon.
Amazon as game studio has no position on the market. They cant afford te be “we drop projects as soon as we deliver” kind of developer. And whole opinion will be based on NW.
I’m pretty sure AGS knows this but don’t care. I’m also pretty sure they’ll be content as publisher for successful MMOs. From what I’ve heard, they’ve made hand over fist from Lost Ark.
Sadly gamers have a very short memory and there will be enough streamers to hype up games from bogus studios & publishers. E.g. Battlefield 4 was so broken on release, the franchise should have died with it, but it didn’t.
People that jump on the hype from streamers deserve to be scammed until their last cent, same as the people that keep pre-ordering digital copies.
Amazon lost any credibility with their first live project. Some of you may not remember Crucible, I do, and they wiped it from existence. They can afford to rebrand, after all, look at other Amazon products, it’s a 50-50 chance that it tanks badly or you get another The Boys/Invincible or whatever they are selling.
It’s Amazon, don’t mind if it’s Games, TV or Movies, the branding is the same, and the policies across the spectrum are the same.
We didn’t got The Boys, we got The Rings of Power. Right up there.
I will not forget, Amazon goes to the ranks of Ubisoft and EAGames.
What I gather from many threads about this topic is pvpers don’t flag in open world because of pve farmers. Makes sense to me. /s
And their shenanigans since launch are the best reason for AGS to just focus on PvE stuff.
- exploiting ice gauntlet lag to win wars
- various exploits plus macros to win fights, e.g., magic staff machineguns
- ignoring Arena 3v3 to go and win-trade forts when Arenas came out
- shell companies destroying whole server economies deliberately to transfer out with the gold
- sitting on high value settlements to sell the gold as RMT
- and much much more!
Hopefully AGS has just given up. They don’t know how to handle it. Even lousy MMORPGs with lousy PvP don’t have situations worse than this New World farce.
If they focus 99% on PvE that would basically be following the successful model of MMORPGs that have stood the test of time and are still here 7-10+ years later like ESO, SWTOR, FFXIV,… heck even Vindictus. Bet you never heard of that one but they are 10 years old if not more.
And for SWTOR, that 1% they did for PvP this year was to remove one whole tier of it – basically trying to increase the player population so games will actually pop – and added a rewards track to try to bring in otherwise disinterested people to be fodder.
Obviously they know there’s no point trying to actually develop it more than that.
THIS
This is basic common sense in any competitive sport. You see it in the real world all the time with their leagues and stuff – a model of how to handle competitive “PVP” in the real world that has stood the test of time.
But no MMORPG can apparently do this properly.
Don’t hold your breath that New World is gonna pull a miracle here.
I agree. One of the biggest reasons I’m tired of arenas and oprs isn’t because of the maps, it’s because it is the same people in them all the time. I can look at an opr matchup before the game starts and usually tell you what team will win. Arenas are even worse as you have 2 man teams that are always playing.
…so much wisdom in this entire thread…
They PvP on the forums because it’s the only place they might stand a chance of feeling like they’re winning. Lol.
if there are so many players who love pvp, why aren’t they declaring and fighting each other more?
pvp is its own reward.
new world is mostly not a pvp game
That excacly what they are doing. Leaving min dev team to keep game alive as long as they can to milk more $. But they moved most devs to new mmo project already
Maintenance mode. I’ve been hearing this for the last 9 months.
Inspired by The Rift from Destiny 2. THE CONCEPT Two teams of 10, opposite spawns, mostly even landscape with small structures here and there, no forts. The idea is to approach the classic CTF a bit differently. So instead of taking the “flag” (or whatever we put there) from the enemy base to yours it spawns in the middle of the map and you need to push to the enemy base to put it there and finish the round. Pretty straight forward. BASIC RULES No PvE elements. Only one flag holder at a t…
Might as well use this thread for some clout
Anyone know any good PVP MMos i can play?
Noit sure what fits your definition.
Some people are chilling in GW2 for now, while waiting for other games like Throne and Liberty.
GW2 has it’s own take on “openworld” PvP (I say it like that because they have their own dedicated zones for it) that I enjoy. So does ESO, but that game has gone so downhill this last year that I can’t recommend it at all; I actually would suggest people to uninstall it if they have it hahahahaaaa but Albion Online is probably the most solid option if you want a truly PvP focused MMO, then GW2 for a solid PvP and PvE experience. Other than that, your only other option is to patiently wait for a new MMO and hope it also isn’t a flop… and last time I checked, most of the ones that are getting the most hype have yet to even get an official release date so… woo <.<
Great thanks i used to play GW2 and remember the PVP arenas were fun I will start a new character and see how it is now adays
