Not a fan of these balance changes

Pretending its an oversight looks even worse than admitting you tryed to push It hidden. You dont even remember such a change in the only end game activities we all have? Like… Really?

The divide between these two player styles, PvP and PvE, will be a long term challenge for us. Anything we do that improves the gameplay experience for one group will result in the other group feeling targeted, left out, or victimized.
We’ll continue to listen to the community, consider the desired game play experiences for each of these play styles and do our best to make sure both groups feel their desired gameplay is fun and rewarding.

I am not sure I understand, i am talking about employees working on the game can leave at any time, we wouldn’t need to harm our own business to get out. I changed the word “anyone” to employee to be clearer.

Are you serious? My god man.

So when will we know if you’re going to stubbornly stick with these changes or do the right thing and revert the loot drops? I’d like to know if I should bother logging in and doing my daily cooldowns waiting for the patch to revert the nonsense or if I should cut my losses.

A lot of games have started to implement passives that specifically target either players or environment. Which drastically helps with balancing. As far as the rest goes (such as the luck mechanic), honestly they should have just added PvP BiS gear that is obtained through the faction system. That would have allowed PvP to get their gear doing what they enjoy and then duking it out in OPR/War/Forts.

ie…
adding a armor piercing mechanic that is limited to affecting players.
adding a disease that is limited to affecting players (lore-wise you could say that the mobs are immune due to their corruption exposure)

We just launched our first PTR. We are working to incorporate it as a tool into our development process. We’re learning how to use it to produce the best possible outcomes for everyone. So the feedback we receive is helpful, but yea, generally game studios don’t put everything they work on in a PTR.

I’m not necessarily unhappy about the PVP vs PVE thing, I am rather disappointed about the serious change to Elite mob’s and the chests in that area.

I’m not certain what to think when a group of about 10 people that had previously managed to run through Myrk with some challenges, but not being totally wiped couldn’t do corruptions in myrk last night.

There seems to be a fair amount of anger about the unexpected changes at this point.

Yes. They do.

Most game studios actually test stuff before releasing it. Shocking, I know.

I believe he is trying to say that this decision was made to benefit ‘amazon’ as oppose to ‘you as an individual’, because by prolonging the already disliked endagame grind to be more arduous, you keep people in the servers and more importantly, in the cash shop.

But his messaging was being caught up in his own snark.

I think at this point most people want some communication on if chests will be reverted or if the mobs will be.

In all seriousness, I get that every knob turned isn’t going to be in a public test realm.

Some things are just … out of scope, one might say.

But, the big changes, … ehh, nevermind.

Thanks for the reply; enjoy your evening, sir.

Thread with more than 15 hours of discussion for nothing! AGS managed to do what exploiters and duppers could not.

You can’t play the game as it is! You can’t do a quest (solo or small group) if you have an elite mob! You can’t farm GS (who farmed with or without exploit, congratulations!), will make DG nice but the farm will be negative because you’ll spend more gold repairing than getting something useful.

TL:DR You can’t play NW anymore and damn honest casuals and new players!

I think people just say stuff like that because there a huge forums threads full of feedback for bows for ages, like bow has been brought up or just Dex builds all together have been talked about on the forums for ages with lots of detailed feedback. With hardly any good balance fixes to make them competitive.

So people will eventually just give up and demand some sort of change rather than going through the same motions over and over again, eventualyl give it a month or 2 without any good dex changes that make a difference people will just get like this or worse in all threads rather than giving feedback as they feel its not listened too. It happens in wow too.

Perhaps saying in the PTR notes stats on dex builds in war\outpost rush and if they are doing well or not. People just dont think these changes are enough.

A lot of players who remember the last time an MMO really felt good reference older WoW.

The PTBs lasted months, sometimes almost a year, and included all of the content save for a few very major end game/end of cycle moments.

I do understand that it is a constant struggle between players and developers on how to future proof their game from the most hardcore players, and that those players keep things secret from the developers rather than using the PTB as intended.

I do not think leaving something as massive out of the PTB as we’re seeing with the elite’s health, or the changing of items that are already owned is a good decision from the team and I do not know how to better convey that it is very concerning the team thinks this was appropriate.

The very few friends I have left in this game have put it down because of this patch. It sucks. It gives me very little reason to play. I am confident they would not have done so if there were prior knowledge of these incoming changes, having known these guys for over 10 years.

In the case of the bow you fixed a “”"""“bug”""""" that allow arrows to be shot in quick succession with a skill in between. You know what other weapon can do that? Literally every other weapon. Why is it a “”""“bug”"""" for the bow worth making it clunky as hell but okay for all the other weapons to do the same thing.

It’s like your guys in charge of balance are a bunch of dudes in suit who never touched the game. This is pathetic, all throughout the PTR we asked to please not go through with this specific change. It’s not like we asked to redesign the whole weapon before the patch goes live. Just not go through with this specific nerf or “”""“fix”"""" and you couldn’t even do that.

You know ice gaunlet is actually still supidly strong in group content and even solo content. No idea why you are saying its nerfed into the ground. But i agree at the lack of greataxe balance.

You just cant hit 8k with ice tomb anymore lol!

have to listen more to the players
its not hard put forum orders in a spreadsheet and score them by quantity and rollback when people says “thats not work”

but I only see them accepting proposals that had some video made on youtube, like the healer defending from 5

Obvious have a posibility, server no have backup files :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here, and some of this may be down to hindsight, some not so much.

The PTR should have been in place from ALPHA, if not then BETA at the very latest. This way any and all changes would have gone through far more testing before being pushed to the live servers. Then as a result of the changes being tested, and feedback being received, final tweaks could then be made before being pushed to the live server. As I see it at the moment (I could be and am probably wrong), but it seems that the PTR ended, very little to nothing was changed based on player feedback from the PTR, then the patch was pushed to the live servers. As a result, and as with patches to not just New World, but the vast majority of games, things are fixed, but things are also broken. However the current track record seems to be that more things are broken than those that are fixed.

Since this games launch on August 31st the concurrent player numbers have dropped not by a “small amount”, but by an absolute metric ton. From almost 1 million concurrent players at launch week, not taking into account the server queues, the concurrent player numbers sit at just over 200k (give or take). AGS is almost 2 months into the games launch, and they’ve lost almost 800k of a player base. Surely this is highlighting something. Something has got to be wrong to see that much of a nosedive in players, surely the vast majority of these players have provided feedback on varying forums, be it reddit or on the official forums, and has anything been done to address those concerns/issues? Clearly not because the numbers continue to drop. Not all of these players will have dropped off because of the server queues, or previous or ongoing bugs, yet I feel that the vast majority have left because of bugs with the game.

One of the biggest and current game-breaking bugs if you will is the fact that players cannot trade their furniture either via the Trade Post, or even place it into their own Storage Shed. Why is this game-breaking? Because it affects the players and games economy. Now the original argument is that this was disabled due to an exploit that been brought to the attention of the Dev’s. The Dev’s responded by preventing trades/coin gain for around 2-4 days (not sure on the exact number), but currently the Furniture issue has been going on past that. Now it’s not the cheaters/exploiters who are harming the game and players economy but the Dev’s.

How are the Dev’s impacting the game and players economy? Because they still haven’t fixed the issue around the Dupe Exploit that was found. Now having the PTR in place BEFORE the game launched may very well have prevented this coming to pass. Maybe having the PTR in place BEFORE the game launched could have prevented the many issues that have been and are plaguing this game currently.

There is a MASSIVE disconnect between the Dev’s and the player base. This topic seems to be probably one of the most active from a Dev since launch, that needs to change massively too in my opinion. Additionally when you post a message to the games server 4 minutes before it goes down citing Maintenance and to check the forums, that too needs to change. At least 30 minutes warning, AND the relevant information available BEFORE the server’s come down on a more consistent and regular basis would be very nice.
