Have you read about all the stuff they are adding to the game?
Remember when Sea of Thieves came out? Fun game, but a little lacking in content. Now look at it 3 years later, I think it just hit 25 million players over the summer and its been one of the top games on Steam and Xbox for a long time. New World is following a similar path, and I see a bright future in Aeternum.
Its called getting bored. Not everyone wants the same thing so for some the boredom kicks in way before 650 hours played.
For some multiple builds but the same character is not fun. For some crafting is the most boring thing possible. Good content is needed for different playstyles.
There is probably things to do, I just don’t see any reason to do it. That’s a dangerous thought process in an MMO, when the players start thinking about a reason to go on.
Which I haven’t found in New World. I stopped at level 45 because the game didn’t offer anything.
As asmongold said, they need to provide us with a road map of the direction they plan to take the game. Cause right now it seems like they could just kill off their active playerbase by implementing heavy handed and tone deaf changes.
Whether you like the guy or not is irrelevant. He prefaced his video saying it would only be a PvE review and, overall, it was unbiased and echoed the feelings of most people on my server.
All you have to do is read all the quest text in a silly voice when the original voice acting stops. That just never gets old.
Even better, have friends and family join in, maybe spice things up with some finger puppets and extemporaneously replace the original quest descriptions with your own humorous storylines and dialog inventions.
Better still, if you’re really serious about getting the most out of New World, you can create your own quests, monsters, dungeons and world maps, roll dice to fill out your character sheets, adjudicate combat and magical effects and you can keep track of everything with pencil and paper.
See? There’s no end to how much content this game has to offer, and if you can’t see that, you have only yourself to blame.
There’s really no harm in just taking a break for now and checking back in in a month or 3 once there’s been some new content patches.
Endgame content is a bit thin right now, so if you feel like you’ve done what the game has to offer you for now, no reason to burn yourself out and forcefully try to keep playing. Just go play something else in the meantime.
The barrier to relog in at any time is very low with this game, considering you won’t be facing the need to resubscribe.
I quit at 41 or something. I remember when I played Deadmines in WoW. It got me excited. When I played Amrine in New World I was like “Wtf is this? That is it?”. I am not going to investmine time into game that doesn’t really have anything to offer.
