Not sure how stacking dots work

so earlier today i noticed while fighting some bosses and i could stack up bleeds from tondo(rapier skill) that it didn’t seem to increase in damage output. the ticks stayed the same from 1 to 3 stacks(which seems to be max application).

also sometimes the stack count was yellow colored and sometimes white. what’s that?

That’s because it’s not showing the damage ticks as a stack, it’s showing them individually. So when you have 2 stacks of Tondo bleed it will show you two individual numbers of the DoT every second.

Numbers are yellow when the enemy is weak to that type of attack, as well as a little double up arrow next to the number. If the enemy is resistant to the attack type it will be blue alongside 2 downward facing arrows next to the number. White is just normal damage, no resistance or weakness and orange is headshot or critical hits, including backstabs (backstabs are considered critical hits).

thanks… when i meant the color difference i meant on the stack counter not the damage numbers themselves. or does the same rule apply there aswell?

Hm for that I’m not sure. I can’t remember seeing the stack counter change colors at all. If I had to guess it’s either the same as previously mentioned or maybe it’s just indicating it’s reached max stacks. I haven’t used blood rapier in a while but I do use spear and Perforate works the same way stacking rend up to 3 but I don’t believe that changes color either.

If I remember to I’ll test it when I get home and reply if I figure it out, unless someone else does first.

elemental dots can be resisted or strong, physical is always white.

Gotcha. I know seeing the damage ticks of elemental DoTs changed color but does that also change the debuff stack color as well? The little red icon on the enemy health bar. Because rapier bleeds should be a physical damage type so they should always be white, though the OP was saying the actual stack counter itself changed to yellow.

cheers! if nothing else AGS may find that they might want to make these things clearer

I havent actually watched this, but I think debuff icons stay the same color, there is no difference.
But I could be wrong on this.
