Thats because people tend to be afraid of PvP and the current state of <lvl60 PvP only caters to that fear.
Currently we have an opt-in system where only the players at level 60 and/or in larger gank squads turn on PvP. These players are desperate for an open world kill and due to the fact that easy targets are so rare they gank and hunt everyone that was dumb enough to solo with PvP on. Additionally, in the current state noone from your faction is even able to help the poor players that get ganked because they decided to turn off PvP completely and can’t intervene. Without a broader audience that is permanantly involved in PvP this will never change. The faction play will be done by a very minor group of players and the world will at some point feel harmless and boring.
Now imagine that there is a constant large group of players involved in PvP. Not only will it be safer for solo players to run around with PvP enabled, but the territories will have real meaning in terms of safety and protection. Gank squads will quickly learn that they have a counterpart in form of gatherers and pvp-players that are interested in fighting back.
I am against forcing PvP at every time, but currently New World just does not offer enough content to satisfy players that exclusively deal with PvE or PvP content. New World wants players to get involved in both activities. Therefore, I think it is a good compromise to add another forced-PvP content (apart from PvP-town-board-missions) that takes place in the open world. Making every gathering activity forced PvP also solves the economy problem because resources don’t degrade in value so quickly. PvE players can buy from the AH which again raised the value of this game feature.
Not here to address your actual post, but rather a few comments.
Can people PLEASE stop saying “Reading this gave me cancer” or “This is giving me cancer” etc etc.
Do you think cancer is something to make light of?? Really? I don’t care that it is used as slang - it is seriously a disgusting thing to say.
Imagine how someone who has survived actual cancer feels seeing your juvenile comments like these.
Disgusting.
I’d be honestly grateful if OP would not play this game.
Most of the requests you make go against the game design on New World (imo).
You already have a solution for queue time.
Mounts will just ruin this game, period.
The percentages you’re giving are not true, you’re just making up stuff to prove your point.
I like looting as it is as well, the world is open to everything and anyone.
You pretty much just want easy mode. This kind of feedback is just sad.
For me the game has already given me $40 worth of entertainment. I very much enjoy that it is not like other MMO:
I like the somewhat limited initial story and cutscenes. I feel more like a character in a drama who doesn’t have all the background info about what’s going on around me and I have to discover for myself and wait as it unfolds.
If this game had mounts the map would seem relatively tiny and players would complain the world is too small. Leave out the mounts.
PvP flagging for open world is a good idea but there needs to be more level equalization scaling. Very few are participating right now.
Having town board and faction quests as optional dailies is much more liberating than the usual grindy dailies more common in other MMOs.
Quests that require killing and looting/skinning a single enemy does need to be fixed so that all who participated in a kill can reap the trophy for quest completion and increase the respawn time of the NPC to 5-10 minutes.
On the matter of storage, it does not feel right to have to leave 1000 items in one town and not have access to it as you level up and have to move on. Some form of transfer could be implemented such as paying for a transfer cart service to move some or all of your items with gold azoth or a combination. The alternative of moving stuff by loading your personal carry capacity to just under encumbrance and fast traveling back and forth is expensive in azoth, time and boredom. I’ve done it once.
Prior to open beta it was not my intention to leave ESO for New World but NW is much more to my liking and I am enjoying it immensely. Looking forward to the evolution of the game.
Eevery MMO launch experienced Queue’s its a matter of population / server capacity balancing
i dont know how many fresh releases you have been in but i have been in a 100 and ALL of them experienced queue’s in the first couple of weeks
In the start it was quite bad the waiting time, but there reaction time to get a bunch of new servers up as amazing. I really like the game, 2 thumbs up if you ask me
I imagine that as you progress the costs of fast travel will go down as you earn more of the currency required to use it.
Don’t be afraid of PVP, it is scary and your heart rate might quicken when you are attacked by other players, but you’ll get over it, just try it out, and you can always disable it if you aren’t in the mood and still do things without using it.
Mounts would change the game into something else, I pray that mounts are never added, I hope that the exclusion of mounts is a deliberate design decision rather than something planned for the future.
I hope mounts will eventually be added theres lots of things they can do to prevent people from running to easily like if your hit your dismounted and you cant mount in combat and such but if the world gets bigger mounts are nice … if they dont they should up the Azoth limit haha so you can fast travel more
You don’t need 12 hours a day to play to have an enjoyable gaming experience… there is plenty of accomplishments you can do on 1 to 2 hours of playtime… there is. O mandate to be max level in new world. Plenty to do and that you can do solo.
I was recently diagnosed with (likely) terminal MDS (bone marrow cancer); i’ve got about 5 years, give or take a year or two, and i find your comment rather offensive. Cancer is not a joke and you really should think before posting such things.
I would say, try relaxing, smoke a joint, and then sit down to take this game at the pace it wants to be played at. I was angry at the game just like you are, I was trying to make it fit into my idea of what it should be rather than fitting into the game as it is. Relax, settle in and just enjoy the ride. This game is not about what you have done, it’s about what you are doing.
This game is beautiful and you are missing that because you are angry and trying to make it something it is not, just like I was. You have all these expectations of what it should be. If you do not enjoy it that is not a problem just don’t play. I was the same way until I just let it be and now I am really loving this game.
Unfortunately, there’s no technology to prevent this thing in any MMO with a persistent open world. Come back in 50 years.
There’s been a number of changes to address this, among which are server limit increase, more servers, characters transfers which will be available in the future and anti-afk system which keeps being updated as we speak.
This was a game design choice and was never advertised. If you bought the game for mounts knowing that there are none, you have only youself to blame.
New world has a very unique set of rules that makes for a very interesting gameplay. You just have to adapt or learn from others how to enjoy the game. Lots of people obviously do, since the game sits on 700k concurrent users every day. If you find to many unconfortable things about this game, then maybe it’s not for you.
calm down guys, you want the game to be good for everyone, since it’s just released, wait for updates, let them work, we’ll see for itself…
we see in the tibia, the map was gigantic, and I had to walk, after several updates they put a mount, stop saying there’s nothing to do, have you already up to level 60? have you up your arcana to 200?
first people are screaming we want the game to be out NOAW!!! and now there screaming they dont have a fully polished 2 year running MMO with loads of content … stop living in a fantasy world and get back to reality … o wait
