If servers will be closed for 6 months old players will not join cuz for what… if forever like @Kay said. Old players will maxout they characters in these 2 weeks and jump to fresh servers to check it to start all over, with fresh economy … fresh everything and there will be no boring. IMO lock forever is bad idea but this 6 months is prime time ![]()
Every patch comea with issues.
Your take on this is a joke. Ita better to wait 2 weeks and fix any gamebreaking bugs that might potentially appear than rush it and imagine if some gamebreaking shit happens would just cause a shitshow that could have been easily avoided.
Its 2 weeks man, not 2 yeara.
Im just testing things on ptr from start. Too bad there is no exact items and level on ptr when u want to test it from lv 1. You got weapons, 2 skill points for each weapon, gems, etc. They should add pure fresh start on PTR. How it really looks like.
you rarely get a 2nd chance for a successful launch, and this is their last chance to get it right.

You are right, FS servers need to come after the update, all this returning players would create so much drama if one major bug comes with Brimstone. So making sure everything is ok before releasing them it’s the right call. Also 2 weeks are nothing and the complains are ridiculous
I hope fresh servers will be as good as they are ‘on paper’!
Still the excuses with previous dupe or whatsoever are totally wrong! All consumables are gone by long time and it did not affect the game as majority bought them crazy cheap. It affected more the crafters who could not compete with the low price sell.
Fresh servers will be dominated by players who are playing on other servers. As they will reach lvl 60 in 1-2 days while those returned and new players will struggle 1 month to reach lvl 60.
Actually might be even worse on fresh servers if to many current players are going on fresh servers as they will monopolize all or nearly all territories.
But this is only my opinion, so far now we can only do assumptions.
Community asked for fresh servers, Amazon gave us fresh servers! Let’s have fun.
It was same on start why are you worrying now ?
I dont worry at all.
50% of players returning based on what statistics? The ones in your head? It’s their date and if what you’re saying is true then leave, or you must be the other 50% you’re talking about huh lol.
They’ve also said the territory wealth changes will be in place when the servers launch. Between that and shell companies not being a thing, I’d say we are in for quite the treat.
on which statistic do you refute that claim?
I’m not making the claim, Coded is. You’re not that guy stop trying to sound him.
And this idea that its to prevent problems on launch day the 18th is a joke. It would be no different than the problems you would run into on every other server.
Not really. If new dupe appears, fresh start servers will be safe and thats the only reason why people want to start fresh, right?
I haven’t heard anything that persuades me that it’s a good idea to launch fresh servers on the 18th. To the contrary, most posts agree that it makes sense to spend two weeks with a major expansion out live, giving the devs that time to fix issues before the fresh start servers come online. Most of the new players coming to this game are going to want to start on the fresh servers, and THAT is the player base that means the most to AGS, so they’re determined to get that right.
Is the beta used to iron out bugs? Surely these will be found and ironed out on the 18th, so I’m yet unsure the extra 2 weeks will actually do anything. I does seem more of a pacifying statement tbh. The Halloween event is end game content and this wouldn’t be able to be enjoyed by the vast majority of the new servers/players. In my view this is the main reason for the delay. Event finishes on 1st November I hear, FSS open 2nd…
It is what it is though, irrespective of what we are told we have to live with it and accept it.
I’m old enough to spot a pacifying statement instead of an informative one a mile off, unfortunately. ![]()
I’m sure all of these reasons factored into the decision, including the Halloween event. But I’m surprised at your statement “surely these [bugs] will be found and ironed out on the 18th”, unless that was sarcasm? Anyone who’s been around here a while knows that EVERY release is x steps forward, and x steps back. Even the devs in their September dev talk made the embarrassing admission that they are hoping to avoid that pattern in the future.
When you consider the size of this new expansion and just how much has been touched and changed, you just KNOW that launch day is going to be bittersweet with excitement and frustration. Fresh start can’t afford that, too much is riding on it, so anything they can do to help better prepare for it is worth doing.
I’m a returning player and unaware of why it’s harder for AGS to get this right from beta than from launch. I hear a lot of people are playing on the PTR so surely the stress test is there?
"November 2, you say?.. We take note of it ! "
“See you soon !”
@Solice: Beta testing or PTR testing is never comparable to live performance, where you have many, many more players and therefore many more scenarios that get tested. I don’t care how good a development team is, they will ALWAYS find more bugs after release that got past testing. If you have a development team with some history of issues (as we have here, let’s face it), it becomes even more critical to get that last little bit of testing done in the 2 weeks of live before the fresh start servers release.
And just to back up what I’ve said about the development team, watch the most recent dev stream and you will actually hear the devs admit their goal to avoid “taking 2 steps forward and one step back” with releases. They’re adults, they admit their vulnerabilities and I love them for it, and I love them for their determination to make it right. The way this game is going, they are going to ultimately succeed, and they deserve it.
The main reason is to get the territory control changes completed before the FSS launch
