I am a returning player, currently looking at the list of companies on my server.
The list is insanely long, with most companies still displaying a name as Company Governor.
I assume it means the player character still exists (?).
There are 20 companies per page.
The first 6 pages (51+ members) host at least 6k players (6 x 50 x 20), probably much more than that but let’s stick to the minimums.
Until page 144, there are at least 6 players per Company, so 16.440 players (137 x 20 x 6).
Please keep in mind I took 50 for the first 6 pages and 6 for the following 137 pages, which is much lower than the actual numbers.
Anyway, my question is, how can there be between 22.000 and 100.000 (?) player characters registered in Companies on a single server?
Is it due to a huge mashup when the servers were merged?
A series of factors has rendered this part of the UI completely useless and I’d like to see several QoL adjustments with it.
Companies need to be searchable, at least by name. In tandem with this it would be extremely helpful if company names were once again displayed consistently and correctly when viewing players in the social tab. This functionality was there at launch, then quickly broken and never addressed.
Please allow companies to denote a focus (pve, pvp, both) and let people search by that as well.
Filtering by faction seems obvious and would be the first step for anyone trying to find a company to join.
Now the trickier part is how to keep the list trimmed of long inactive companies. OP is right, now that servers have merged, they’re looking at every company that was formed and still has at least one person on their roster from all original servers. The amount of obsolete data in this presentation renders all of it useless except to see the names of governors of companies with claims.
I don’t think automatically dissolving companies after inactivity is fair because there’s likely some money in their wallet. But if 0 players from a company log on in the span of 2 weeks, it seems rather safe to mark the company inactive. The list should display only active companies.
Please allow companies to set a recruitment message and potentially points of contact that would ve visible from this interface as well.
