I’m personally particularly interested in the revised story, so I would be fine with just a story progress wipe/restart.
This I feel is highly preferable instead of players restarting a toon somewhere else and abandoning friends, company, community on their current server, as well as any special items and decorations from an event.
All the other reasons for a fresh start server are pointless since the main issues for server population failures have not been addressed.
Yes, they are going to TRY to deal with shell companies, but I suspect it will still fail as players find workarounds for the new systems.
To me, it’s just a waste of time and resources for the illusion of being on even footing. The people that quit early on and come back to these special servers are behind. They’re going to be behind because of their lack of knowledge. The game has been out for a year. Those that have played or at least kept up with the game will know the best way to get from 1-60, farm and make money, this dominating the servers. The freshies will feel bad again because they’re still behind and then quit.
It’s just not gonna be a sustainable server when you have major companies already planning to come in on these new servers and roll them. It’s gonna leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths. Especially those that quit cause they couldn’t keep up the first time. It’ll look bad on the game and AGS in the end.
If you try to bring this up in any of the fresh start threads you will be attacked by a bunch of, what I suspect to be, bots.
I actually think the gold farmers are making these accounts and are aggressively pushing for fresh starts to prey on returning players in droves as they struggle to catch up.
Yup, then expect New World to get review bombed again on steam. Wanna know who suffers here? Us. The players who stuck with the game.
So many Major issues in this Game. Most people will quit again. Im still here cause i Love the Combat system and im used to unfinished raw Games But for example leveling past 30 is painful and boring. do Majorquests, Portals or townboard. Everything Else is inefficient. But new Players dont know that. They gonna grind Mobs or step into the noobtrap - sidequests. More running less XP.
At this Point they are even Not confronted with the Tons of bugs! Teleportingbugs, weaponswitchbugs, visualbugs, stuck in Animationbugs, wrong Translation or Not updated tooltips or hints in the loadingscreen. AGS should have fixed all old Bugs and the new, which came with the Summer Patch before consindering to make a new Major content Patch.
Furthermore we have Major Balance problems with rewards PvE vs PvP, Armor, Game modes and weapons.
Balancing is chaos… hopefully in time they’ll settle that, same with armor.
Otherwise I’m hoping they will have 26-60 done, makee no sense if they don’t imo
Most of the returning players quit before 60, probably because “3 button game”, “no mounts”, “even shroud hates it”.
They will quit again in droves when they realize this isnt a new wow patch where everyone starts fresh and you have a chance at rushing to the front of the pack with time investment.
They are behind in strategy, mechanics, and gear. None of that has a catchup mechanic while experienced players will start with 2/3 and better knowledge on how to achieve the 3rd.
They need to require an active account to post on the forums and they need to commit to only releasing content for the entire playerbase.
You’re exaggerating the smallest thing to think about. Are fresh start servers your biggest concern? Really? You are the source of the problem, you just don’t realize it yet.
OPEN PvP SERVERS not FRESH START SERVERS C’MON AGS, IF YOU DON’T OPEN WE LEAVE!!!
This is exactly what I’m talking about. Let’s not worry so much about it. There are old players waiting for fresh start servers. Many players will leave the game again after 2 months, as you said, but there are some like me who love the game and are waiting to return. It’s not nice to generalize. We continue with the rest. People who oppose this and want a PvP server amazes me. Same thing.
Let’s say BSS launches late October and the Dragonflight release date on November 28th is true. Pre patch for it will start early November.
BSS hype will be short lived, especially when the paid streamers and their followers abandon ship AGAIN.
This is wild to me. I’m one of those many players that quit playing around 30. This is literally the first forum thread I’ve read. I heard mention of fresh servers, with some new experiences and an interesting update. I did enjoy my time playing, so I’ve been itching to get back into it.
but this mentality is super toxic. Why would anyone new or even returning want to play the game? Old players have mastered strategy, mechanics and gear with no chance for new players to catch up? Do you want to play a dead game? because this is how you do it. Not only have you strayed me away from fresh servers (where old players would just dominate new players), you’ve strayed me away from returning to the game altogether. Why would any one want to play a game where new/returning players can’t compete with older players?
Its not as apparent as other MMO’s, but being “endgame” is having 625 gear score and 2 useful perks on all your gear. This is pretty dang obtainable, and you’ll probably get multiple sets just for pve funsies or because you have 2 PvP specs you want to run.
When you see people complain about BIS tryhards ruining everything, they’re either delusional or they’re referring to how some people are rich enough that they can have 8 different PvP builds and just switch based on the meta.
The best advice would just be hop back on your level 30 and enjoy the game.
Nearly everyone I know who quit did so for one of two reasons. They couldn’t interact with Territory Warfare and/or OPR was imbalanced, both on an individual level and also on a pub-stompy lack-of-matchmaking level.
Fresh start not only does not address any of this, but it asks returning players to replay the grind just to get to the place they weren’t happy in to begin with.
Returning player acquisition isn’t the sole motivation for fresh starts, but its an argument that gets brought up often.
