I think the numbers debate is really interesting, because between people bringing up mmo-populations site (which says itself that it is estimated amounts based on social media and not actual data, which they do not have access to) and claiming that games which have their own non-Steam launchers which are used by almost all of the players (most players only use Steam when they have to, generally) nevertheless have Steam player counts that are useful as comparisons … I mean it’s understandable why these are impossible conversations to have, really.
In this game, it’s all transparent. We can see the PCU. That has never been the case before for any MMORPG, because no other game company has unzipped its fly like that before (and likely, after this debacle, never will). You can spin all you like if it makes you feel better, but the PCU count is an excellent proxy for the size of the overall playerbase, and how much it has decreased. It is obviously true that the total number of players is a multiple of the PCU, that’s obvious – but it’s also true that the PCU is a reliable indicator of the overall level of player engagement in the game, because it tracks the logins at any one given time. If the logins across the board in a 24 hour period are lower than the logins across the board in the same 24 hour period a week before, there are simply fewer people logging in, overall. It really isn’t complicated.
As to what the actual playerbase number is (i.e., how many people are still logging in, at all), we don’t know, and everyone can have their view as to what the muiltiple of the PCU it is – but to be honest it’s pretty “out there”, in my opinion, to believe that the multiple is 5x+ of the PCU, such that there are 1-2m players currently, if you count the logins over a week-long period, or something like that (there clearly are not 1-2m people logging in over the course of a day, based on the PCU numbers).
That’s total logins so includes steam which so just how little players through it. Same for ESO but I don’t have the effort to find their numbers. FFXIV was enough of an example.
Japanese servers alone have more concurrent and 24 hours peak than NW as a whole.
You want to talk about basic math but then lie about FF being mostly on steam to try and make your claims have validity.
Then you lied about NW having 6 million daily players. I am sorry but your lies make your claims that I dont understand math false. I understand it quite well. I also understand that when you get caught lying multiple times you will not be taken seriously by other people.
I am not yelling I am pointing out the things you were wrong about and refuse to acknowledge. Maybe try admitting you lied and we can move on from there. It starts with you.
In another thread you claimed NW has 6 million as a current playerbase and in this thread you claim you never said that. I linked your quote. You lied and now you continue to lie about it. If you cant be honest no one is taking you seriously.
I am perfectly calm and you have been shown to be wrong multiple times because you did no research.
I would say NW is still getting between 600k and 1.2 million logins a day and as of now the game is appearing to level off in population. Hopefully they merge servers soon so some people are not on servers seeing less than 100 people at peak times. They cant even get a war going there.
Those people are the best, they make a statement being all high and mighty unknowingly shooting themselves in the foot and looking like a total tool haha.
Yes that’s true. I was at Tir na nog and we couldn’t get even a single OR most days.
Transfered to Midgard 2 days ago and the game feels like it just released yesterday there.
Things will get better after the merges and will improve with the expansions…
Just no, you can’t just make things up and not expect people to call you out on it…
This is not true…its just really obvious you know literally nothing about FFXIV, the absolute WORST part about playing FF is playing it through steam…quite frankly its the hardest part about the game to try and set your account up and play through steam.
I have had friends that have given up on starting the game because it was just so damn difficult to get the game working through STEAM.
Also with a little bit of common sense you could have guessed that any game that has been dubbed the most played MMO in 2021 would have more than 40k players.
FFXIV is now the most actively played MMORPG in the world with nearly 2.5 million active players.
WoW at this point in time is still going strong, it has been “dying” for 17 years…and will probabaly be more successful than NW will ever be despite its MANY problems at the moment.
I know you are trying to argue some sort of point with other people here but when you drag in many of the industry leading games into the argument and know pretty much next to nothing about them you look just a tad on the foolish side…
I have a rule to not comment on things i know nothing about in order to not be in a situation you’ve found yourself in.
So to answer your question, I don’t know and I don’t really care as i have no interest in those 2 games. I could do the research for you but you can also google it yourself.
