Obsidian Gypsum low drop rate

So is the obsidian gypsum drop rate lower than any other dropped gypsum? I nowadays get to play for like 1-2hours/day max and every day i have to farm for the god damn obsidian gypsum for 30+ minutes. And I mean EVERY day. While writing this, it took me 38minutes to get all three obsidian gypsums.

Why not make all the droppable gypsums a 100% chance? Wasting time on something which has crap droprate and at the same time is necessary to get higher GS is pure idiotic.

I think there is a timer between drops.

I believe there was a statement a while back that you can’t just farm them back to back, there is a minimum wait time between the ability to loot them. So I stopped farming the boss in Ebonscale and just get mine during world tours

it takes 10 maybe 15 minutes. My god.

There is and they already lowered it once

iirc its between 6-8 min for Obsidian Gypsum

They should make it drop as fast as topaz does. Make it a daily, not a daily pain in the ass.

Yeah I stopped farming it. It also doesn’t drop 100% after waiting 10 minutes, making me waste nearly an hour each day.

Devs should make it so that Obsidian has no drop cooldown if other bosses are killed. Only the same boss should keep the cooldown. Or is that too hard to code?

If I remember right, the drop cooldown is 5minutes so it should take maximum 15-20minutes.
But I’ve literally been farming this past week every day and in all cases it has taken me 30+ minutes. I’m either extremely unlucky (which I doubt) or there is something wonky with the drop rate

Have you tried differnt named mobs or do you go to the same spot every time.

Maybe. Just MAYBE they altered the time for drops on a certain named mob every goes to farm.

It’s an 80% drop chance only when the mob drops a bag, on a 6 minute internal cooldown. Just set a 6 minute timer after getting the first, and chill. Not all mobs that drop obsidian, drop bags as often either, so try getting out of the crypt and doing other named mobs. It’s 18 minutes minimum unless you find Raffle since he drops it always, but Mr. Rafflebones was nerfed into the dirt so good luck.

I’ve always farmed in skysong lagoon. After like the latest patch the drop rate seems extremely lower. I’m farming at the same location again since there’s 2 mobs that can drop it as far as I know. While writing this I was farming the obsidian, it took me approximately 13-14minutes to get my first obsidian gypsum.

Will be going to check the crypt now and see how it is there.

If you play for 1-2 hours a day there’s no point to farm it. Have fun and do something else you like

Only Maiden Ping drops obsidian, the emissary will never drop any.

Yeah but once you get it from her jump off the back side into the lagoon (about a 14s walk underwater) to the Crypt side and Kill Ivan in the church. Having faction quests in Skysong area helps so you can do 5 Topaz, 10k+ Faction and 3 Obsid in under an hour.

It’s an RNG drop rate on a hidden cooldown timer.

Do we know this information from forum posts? Sure.

Will new players? Highly unlikely.

It’s also probably the most obscure of the gypsum systems. Gypsum, again, being a catch-up mechanic. Thus, new players are a very important part of that demographic.

I can get my 3 hidden stashes for diamond gypsum in less than 5 minutes. I can get my 5 topaz in less than 10.

Obsidian? Well, somewhere between maybe 15-45 minutes if I kill the same specific named mobs over and over. (I do it every morning before work.)

People farm that mob because it’s a great natural and fluid way to get multiple gypsum. Diamond from mining, topaz from killing all the mobs, obsidian from the boss at the top, and the occasional emerald from aptitude.

It’s actually one of the best (and personally most fun) areas to grind. Winding up a mountain, killing a variety of mobs with different patterns and looting chests while gathering precious materials with a couple elite mobs sprinkled throughout. All while being near a fast travel shrine.

IMO, obsidian requirements could easily be dropped to 1 without any negative impact on the game, and the devs should strive to create more fluid experiences like Serenity Monastery.
