I’m experiencing a very strange issue with New World and I have not found a solution. Apologies in advance for the lengthy post, but I want to make sure I don’t miss anything.
Note 1 - If someone has solved this problem, PLEASE let me know. I’m desperately seeking solutions. I love this game and want to play it without issues.
Note 2 - I played all the alphas and betas and had ZERO issues playing or running this game. It’s strange that it’s happening now.

The Problem:
Around 70% of the time I attempt to load New World, I get stuck on the loading screen. I press “Play” from Steam, the game shows the New World logo, then it goes to the black screen with the spinning circle. The audio is still playing in the background.
I notice the game freezes because the loading circle just stops spinning. I usually have to open up Task Manager, force close the game, then try again. After 2 or 3 times of doing this, I eventually get into the game and can play without issues.
Furthermore, this freezing phenomenon happens EVERYTIME I minimize the game or click on my second monitor. I am not exaggerating - I have been unable to use my second monitor during my 80 hour journey in New World. When I attempt to do so, the game/visuals freeze, but I still hear the audio from the lively world.
Thankfully, the game is still playable and once I’m in, I’m good… as long as I don’t accidently press my Windows key or click out of my game. Below is a full list of solutions I have tried.

Steps I’ve Taken to Resolve This Issue:
-
Uninstalled and reinstalled New World multiple times.
-
Turned all of the graphics down to LOW (even though I was running VERY HIGH in alphas and betas) and turned off any settings that would cause performance issues.
-
Reset my gaming PC to factory settings - removed everything.
-
Updated my Windows, drivers, and graphics cards.
-
Increased my virtual memory.
-
Turned off or deleted all background running apps that have nothing to do with New World. Also turned off overlays (Steam, Xbox Game Bar, Discord, etc).
-
Regularly monitored my CPU and GPU stats while playing - haven’t noticed anything off (my computer surpasses all the recommended settings).
-
Tried playing in both full screen and windowed mode.
-
Tried playing on both Ethernet and WiFi. I even disconnected all other devices in my home that were connected to the same Internet as my gaming PC.
-
Deleted specific game files over and over again. Ran as administrator. Uninstalled and reinstalled Easy Anti-Cheat.
