Also just discovered this after buying an Old Ring and gem off of the auction house. Looking forward to the fix, was pretty bummed when I encountered this.
Same issue with Old Ring. I also have the same issue with my Focus Staff and Ice Staff now.

This. Hope they fix it soon. Picked up a perfect earring for 80k, want to finally be able to slot it.
you cannot slot amber in life staff / ice dmg gem in ice gauntlet since they already do that type of damage. The game is basically stopping you from adding a useless gem.
Diamond in lifestaff always, the malachite I believe for ice gauntlet.

See Amazon, this is what player mean when they say the game is filled with bugs and issues.
This should be a priority and very easily fixable bug. It’s not something obscure that only affect 0.01% of players that happens only when a few conditions are mixed. This is a bug that affects every single player of your game… Either because they drop the jewelry themselves or they want to buy it in the market. BTW… Another bug affecting those items is that they don’t appear in the auction house because they seem to not have a good category and thus they simply don’t appear when you search for rings.
This is the thing you should be working on instead of adding a new complex layer of upgrading gear score. All the time you spent on developing a new useless system just for 25 gearscore that don’t have real meaning or impact in the game… +1 stat like dex/focus/etc? 0.2% difference on refreshing? All that time of your developers you could have spent it into imporoving the Quality Of Life of all your players with issues they encounter daily.

Aaaaaand im in here… Same Problem, perfect Old Ring, so shiny, so nice, so perfectliy perkily and stattily… But not able to add a gem…
It’s not just for that particular ring though. Any ring that doesn’t come with a gem in it’s available slot, can not be gemmed. This seems more like a bug than anything for future intentions. So the devs should make sure that rings rewarded from chests/casts should come with a gem in them, and not empty. That should be the easiest sollution if they can’t figure out how to seperate the system of not allowing players to swap pre-sockeded gems.
These Types of Rings etc. are useless with no gem slot compared with other rings etc…
Let us place a gem on it once. Than bind it to the gem so its not exchangable (it would be tooo crazy compared to the other jewelry if you could change the gems like in weapons/armor)
It’s been more than 1 month now.
When is this going to be fixed ? There is nothing about it on the PTR patch note, and I’m worried about it

Bought that one from Trade Post just to realise i can’t attach a gem… Now to realise all the gold i’ve lost buying this crap. I literaly feel scammed, not by a player but by the game. How i am suppose to know i can’t attach a gem on this ? Like what the hell is this

What’s the point of a gem slot that doesn’t accept any gems?
Was just wondering the same, after spending too much on a ring and earring that’s bugged. These annoying things is what make people leave. Maybe fix the game first before you add new features.
