Keep dreaming. They have instead changed the walk under water animation. The game looks more realistic now! Great job! Development resources well used!

After Brimstone Sands Patch:
As you can notice, they also kept the beautiful splash effect at water level that, even if you thought it was impossible, it makes the walking underwater even more realistic !
I mean its a game where I can jump from the height of a 40-story without dying. Don’t see why we need swimming since I clearly can suspend my disbelief.
We also did not need a water walking animation, I mean if you don’t want to touch water as a project manager in order to instead focus on bugs and balancing I am totally okay, but in that case don’t touch water at all before the high priority tasks are solved.
to play devil’s advocate, Guild Wars 2 has the best MMO swimming I’ve ever seen, and I still avoid underwater content in that game. swimming in mmos is always just kinda meh
They probably left swimming out of the game because light users would be able to swim freely, medium users barely, and heavy would have to walk across the ocean floor.
My complaint is how little air time you get. Like, I’m not super fit or anything, have asthma, and can hold my breath for over 3 minutes.
Some people can hold their breath for 10 minutes.
(The record is around 12m)
Why can’t my character come close to my breathing? Did they all suffer some horrible disease that makes holding their breath too much?
No. There are plenty of real world videos of people in different tiers of armor trying to swim.
Heavy armor is so heavy that knights on horseback would ride their horses into rivers, walk across the bottom, and come up on the other side.
Not that everything about this game is realistic, but it’s often attempting to ground itself in reality. It would be odd if full heavies could swim. I’d rather there be no swimming at that point. It would be more jarring than jumping off a cliff and surviving.
Swimming animation and/or ways to prevent players of traversing large water before said player walks under water until breath meter runs out (e.g fatigue system) and falling damage should definitely be added in the game. Minecraft is more realistic than this game, let’s be serious.
Sorry but those who write that " try swimming with 200kg of armor on you" in a game that has magic staffs are either big trolls or have very small brains. Okay let’s say that you can’t swim with 200kg load on you, then I wish to see struggling animation that the character tries to swim but can’t because of the weight while ultimately gurgling and dying, will that be fine? Let’s be realistic. I know, it’s absurd right? but not more absurd than your comment.
There are games that do not support swimming e. g SWTOR, and they don’t let you to get in water more than hip level. Which is perfectly fine, why AGS can’t at least do the same?? Make all in land bodies of water with lower depth, and if you try to get out of the isle in the ocean you get Smited by the mighty Aeternum God or whatever lore you invent.
Maybe because you’re likely in the 95% of humanity being able to do that.
And swimming and the animation had to be added, it doesn’t matter if you need it or not. it made the whole game look very amateurish breaking the immersion to just keep walking as if nothing changed
