Absolutely. It’s clear that there is a LOT of interest in the upcoming fresh start servers so one per region is NOT going to cut it. This is essentially their 2nd attempt at a product launch and they should be scaling up accordingly.
It’s true that many players will opt to stick with their existing mains on the existing set of servers, not everyone wants to start over. But between the huge group of existing players who DO want to start over (myself and all my friends and co-players included) and the huge base of players out there who have heard all the good talk on the street about this game’s redemption and their interest in starting on fresh servers, I think AGS will want to ensure that these players on fresh start have the best experience possible. This is their future customer base, this is where the growth will come, and they need to be looking at it that way.
As you can see - I have no claims to the developer. I understand the situation that has arisen. I would just like to point out to avoid such events in the future, and this can be done with really little work
Agree, the reception of brimstone has been pretty good I’d say, with the exception of that crafting bug with bags (or whatever it was) & queues. For many people, myself included, a long queue = log off. I guess depending on the day I might let it ride and get on eventually, but probably not. I don’t plan on playing with a big group on FSS so hopefully for me that means I can pick a lower pop server.
Just load up on servers and merge as needed. Amazon are the world server overlords surely they can tap into the machine learning AGS uses to predict server needs and hook us up with something better than a queue fiesta.
For the premiere, the developers could predict (more or less) how many servers will be needed because they had data on the sale of the game. At the moment, these data are unreliable because many people who have purchased the game are waiting for fresh servers. For this reason, it seems that developers should do some research another way
They will give also another character slot which complicates the overall value.
It can’t be calculated for just new purchases. All existing players will be abile to create new characters in it so if it is the case they need to open servers that can support at least a million player. Don’t you remember which numbers the game has reached at release ?
With additional character slot, it needs to be like another release or we will see huge queues again. Additional character slot was a bad decision at the first place imo. It made their own work harder.
Not everyone would be ok with deleting characters, I can understand that but it will be a trouble because I don’t think they will open enough servers. Release servers were not even enough at beginning. I don’t think they will even open that much.
I don’t see a point in adding to much 2 are enough maybe 5k more players come for fresh servers. Old players from live servers will try for 2-3 days and come back on live and 2 weeks later from 2 servers they merge it in 1.
At the very least they need to add more than one for EU to account for different languages. There will clearly be enough demand so open a few in EU at the start instead of one at a time forcing players to go into whichever new one regardless of the main language.
They must have an idea about how many players want to play fresh start by now. It will be alot. Honestly if they fuck this up, i will really start doubting their competence.
Actually, I doubt they have any idea about the number of willing players … I prefer to be wrong but I doubt it. Especially since they did not make any observations. It would be enough to do a survey on reddit, Facebook and the forum to determine the ESTIMATED number of willing players
