It’s funny like ppl calling it a game breaking exploit. Ok, it was a bug, but it was making bow gameplay valuable and feeling alive. It’s not normal that people like me think it’s fine that bug shouldn’t be the bug. Now, after it removed, bow again is garbage. It is still playable I mean, like before thos bug was found, but cmon, this exploit was making bow feeling really balanced and work how it should.
something as simple as adding a jump at the end of a shot made the bow incredibility fun and fluid to play. shame they are taking that away instead of building upon it.
you mean like mages who could never jump cancel and are straight up slowed for 1-2secs after each light attack without the ability to dodge and hit for like 700-800 on heavy? yea poor bow guys 
unintended? sure. but does it really cause problems? all it does is add another element to the stale pvp. Its not game breaking by any means and it increases the skill cap on the bow, which is the element that draws people to the weapon in the first place. just because it was unintended does not warrant its removal. people need to get out of their idealist fantasies and use the old noggin for once.

how can it be broken? It was broken at the beginning maybe. Hardest weapon in game with worst hitboxes(yeah, they are skillable but still, not compared to magic hitboxes), with worst movements, with worst bullet drop. Considering the meta of heavy with resilient it’s also impossible to deal high crits to heavy. Even to medium the highest crit gonna be like 2k. Sorry, but bow is not broken, it needs some love from devs
Summary of Bow in general:
- high dmg but hardest weapon in the game (go ahead and try to land 3 consecutive shots on a dodging target)
- smallest hitbox and lower fire rate than any other ranged weapon (basic and heavy attacks)
- most clunky zoom in animation there is, you literally can not move for 2s after exiting scope animation
Topic of jump animation cancel:
- fire rate increase between normal consecutive shots and jump shots is minimal (people recorded it, about 0.2-0.4 seconds difference - if someone could make a video on this to validate, would be appreciated)
- jump shots are NOT iframes and easy to counter once you get a feeling for the rhythm and know where to aim (e.g. slightly infront of the targets jump direction) - hence skill cap difference
- literally only bad PvP players complain “they can’t hit jumping bow users” - str8 fax ong no cap
- jump shots do NOT make you magically aim better - there’s plenty bow users jumping around not landing a single shot
Obviously I’m biased since I’ve been using bow since lvl 1, but here’s my personal experience from daily PvP:
- plenty skilled Mages with their giant hitboxes and higher fire rate can counter me easily, no matter where I jump
- same goes for bow vs bow - I don’t struggle at all hitting jumping bow users
- the “spam” people complain about - again: the fire rate difference is minimal, try it yourself
In general Dex users supposed to be fastest class in the game, but I get that the higher stamina with the jumps can feel overwhelming when facing it the first time (I know I was when I first saw it). Here’s a suggestion on how to fix the bow without making every weapon clunkier with every patch:
- Nerf Stamina buffs on Dex builds, but keep jump shots
- Remove jump shots AND the 2s scope exit animation on bow - if we could shoot and run instantly afterwards (like literally any other ranged weapon), we wouldn’t need to use animation cancel
- Or: add animation cancels to other class since it’s a basic skill cap difference in this genre of games (there are plenty dodge animation cancels through out all weapons, even Berserk animation cancel is STILL possible)
All in all - yes, a bow jumping jack is complaining. But in general I feel like AGS is nerfing this game into a clunky mess that feels static, especially in PvP. All I want is for them to see the potential of fast paced PvP action, which to this day I have not seen in another MMO and have been really enjoying it. If I have to be a static turret on the field or use dodge animation cancel till I run out of stamina and die, it ruins this dynamic fast paced gameplay imo.
tl;dr: stop making this game clunkier with every patch and ask your PvP department on how to better approach your balancing smh

That’s the thing people that have never used the bow don’t see. The jump was a mask to the already hidden problem, that the bow is extremely clunky and recovery periods are wayyy too long for it.
There’s absolutely no reason the bow should not be able to use stamina (dodge) to cancel those recovery periods. But no, you must wait 2 seconds after a shot in order to dodge.
Other weapons have these buffer windows and recovery periods but they just arent as long in most cases and some are still able to cancel. They really need to get rid of these periods for the sake of combat in general in this game. It is making the game too dumbdowned and practically turn based style combat.
Glass canon Bow cracking head shot for 3k hip fire, 7k short, 10K long and with Brash 12K on that manikin.

This is what they did to the musket before. Hell you’re even animation locked for a good 2 sec (reload) not being able to do anything with you character. You standing there and someone closses up on you and you standing there relax reloading your musket and pressing the weapon switch button like madman but nothing happens, nope i’m just chilling reloading while i get my head sliced open bij a GA / Hammer or any melee weapon.
Maybe they should adjust the issue why people where jumping, but i’m glad they fixed it cause it really triggered me to see a bunch of clowns jumping the entire time in OPR, looked more like a circus.
So you say Fire staff hits about 20% less than a bow, but fire twice as fact and aply dot on hit? Sound balanced yeah
Wouldn’t be an update without a bow nerf. Atleast they will ignore the bots and gold spammers again, but pay attention to the guy that wears light low gs gear and stands still that got killed by a bow.
I alternate between ss + wh and bow + rapier. The last time I played the bow was 3 days ago
Rain of arrows - 5.4 k crit on 4 players
Penetrating shot - 6.2 k crit on the last player hit. Yes, I hit heavy armor with resilient for 2k and that’s fine considering I have 100 con and 385 dex in light armor. Highest crit was 7.4k crit so far in OPR after the nerf
You also have the rapier that makes you unstoppable.
What more do you want, a 20m aoe ability that can one shot anything ? Jesus
As long as anyone is killed in PvP by something, the nerfs will continue. I can’t wait till we can only PvP with bare knuckles.
The real problem is that bow users don’t have an advantage on top of high mobility and high damage and it’s pissing them off. I’m a bow user and the only builds that I struggled with are VG Orb, another bow user and light armor hatchet. The rest of the builds had no chance against bow + rapier or spear.
Just finished a war last night. Bow is easily best and easiest dps in the game. top 8 players in the war were all bow exploiters.

bow needs this after AGS went ahead and remove fluid usage of abilities in patch 1.1 something every damn weapon can do besides bow, so we have the right to jump cancel when you have the right to cancel abilities after autos, now bows has none.
if they wanted to remove this they should of added bow fluidity back from pre 1.1.

And nobody says that it’s impossible anymore to deal HUGE damage. It just isn’t profitable. What’s the point of being a glass destroyer if you have 6k hp? Anyone with a musket can kill these in a couple of shots. Yes, it is mathematically possible to give out such huge damage, but 90% of people will not do this because they understand what the big disadvantages are.
