I don’t think you realize how much damage the arc was nerfed.
It was very slow and with little aim, but it had +50% damage. I made a post in French about it and I’ll show you all the majors about the bow, you’ll be surprised.

The OPR is the only place where the musket can play. It’s the same story with the bow, but the bow is still good in the arena. In all other content we have only crap melees… Already added slow from every melee attack… What do all the idiots on the melee weapons still want? Want to get the ranged weapons removed from the game? To leave only the gachi-party on swords and hammers?
Muskets and Bows still get war slots, but I get your frustration.
Bow has too much built in haste and musket is musket with its issues.
The problem people complain about these 2 specifically in OPR is when you have to many of these weapons on one team, that team loses and the game play becomes so boring. You rarely see a bow playing objectives and you never see muskets. It just makes OPR feel like a waste of time with to many of them.
But if they actually made some sort of comp and limited roles per OPR I don’t think we’d be having as many issues as you see now. I think a majority of the issues are down to no role queue. I mean bows and muskets would then complain they have to wait hours for OPR cause there are more of them then slots for each OPR, but honestly it would make the games way more engaging
I’m certainly no expert, but 7 of the 14 weapons in the game are melee weapons, my friend. Enough. Melee is already terribly popular in the new world.
So in our game, people probably play mostly for melee because there are more choices and variations of builds with melees weapons.
And obviously it’s a lot easier to play with melee than with any other weapon. All you need to be good at is dodging. That’s all there is to it. The rest things game will do everything for you.
Aim? Why, there’s a nice auto-aiming and pulling to the target as much as 3 meters away when you press any attack.
The effect of fps or ping? No, it doesn’t affect the guys at the miles. It’s not like they have to aim…
90% of the controlling abilities on melee weapons. And okay if you could only use 1 melee weapon, but a full melee player uses 2 melee weapons. This gives a huge scope for controlling the enemy and combat in general.
Have ranged run away all the time before? Not a problem. Now there’s a slow from every attack. Isn’t that enough? Here’s an extra reduction in dodge distance from a melee attack. From every melee attack.
Want to participate in any content with your big sword and hammer? Yes please. You will be welcome absolutely everywhere. From war to farming mobs.
that’s why players love melees so much…

And yes the axe does everything here, the bow is only used to finish the targets. (+auto stack in X10)

In the arena, it’s strange that he doesn’t focus, but it’s because of the psychological effect of the axe and his death challenge.

For me it proves two things:
- the axe is the most stupid crutch in the game.
- the pvp ring perk is completely smoked and desert the distance image.

And I want to add that in order to kill Bruise players, you need to kill the healer, so when the healer makes a mistake, the Bruiser dies directly. high risk high reward
but range classes can escape really easily.

Yup you’re right, every other build has some risk. The range builds just don’t have to deal with risk like other builds, they don’t play objectives and always want to maintain distance so they don’t die.
Their only threat is other dex. They think it’s assassin builds, but that’s just their lack of awareness and letting them close a gap. If they looked in their direction they’d be dead before they reach them
I used the musket almost exclusively for a little over a year.
Then I played melee for about a month, and discovered how unbalanced range dex (bow/musket) is in comparison to melee.
I haven’t played new world in a few weeks now.
It is NOT a competitive pvp game, and I didn’t fully realize that until playing melee for a bit.
Yes, the key word here is aim. You know what I mean?..
Under very favorable conditions. Target needs to be less than a 100 constitution, with 1-2 or zero resilient. The archer must aim and hit the head. By the way, aim. I’ll mention that word again, for those who will be reading this post besides you, because most likely players on purely melee weapons are not familiar with it.
And most likely an archer under empovers stacks. At that point any weapon will kill you in two hits. Most likely the GS will just oneshot you.
Attention, I do not say that in the current version of NW, there are no worries with the musket and the bow: I say that the problem does not come from the distant weapons, but from the perks around.
The musket should have a real projectile, with speed and bullet drop.
The bow should have much less damage if and only if it gains control.
Mortal Empowerment should disapear as well as Attunement on weapons.
Remove the slowdown of melee shots
With these changes, I see a better balance.

I always speak clearly because I played in the 2 class for a serious time.
Even with my GS gun Trench strike/Attu/Keenly emp and all power buffs active, I couldn’t kill anyone in one hit

In general, it’s interesting. I assume you had this situation on a rofl content called OPR. I assume it because elsewhere the bow and musket doesn’t feel good. Unless, of course, you’re standing in a field against a bow or musket and running at it like a dumb.
As you say, man. You’re right about risk, I agree.
But if you can’t hit a 6-7k with your gachi GS, it means you haven’t unlocked its potential. In general, it’s good for the game that players don’t fully understand how to 100% f*ck everyone with such weapons.
I wrote the same things at the start of New World… the same again and again and got at the end a perma ban because AGS dont like the reality they live in there own world but its not NEW World…

Kinda…in a way truthful. Kinda not. Range shouldn’t be able to hit as high as they do, from a distance. I think the best way to balance range, is to give them more mobility to counter melee, but with less damage. More mobility up close, less accuracy at a distance, for both.
Lol, First the only problem is the musket shooting from miles away chilling, the bow is pretty balanced, hard to hit shot(so it should hit hard), and if you run it down, the bow is done. I’m sick and tired of the hatchet players just destroying everyone immortal.
