One last attempt to give feedback despite toxic positivity in the community

Hey players and AGS,

one last time I want to try to give a feedback what I think, even if I can already think of the comments under this post.

I’ve been playing this game since the alpha and I’ve seen a lot and AGS didn’t do everything wrong. The complete rebuild of the game from PvP to PvE was a very good step that AGS has tackled well. However, in my opinion it was still a mistake to release the game as we are currently close to a “cyberpunk” situation.

The game in its current state is a disaster. The communication from AGS does not make things better. With each patch more and more bugs appear and one “dupe bug” follows the next. Meanwhile 4 weapons are broken (Hatchet, Fire Staff, Ice Gauntlet, Life Staff) and there seems to be no change in sight. Not to mention other problems with the gems or the other stat calculation. AGS seems to be hopelessly overtaxed at the moment, at least that’s how it comes across to me, as neither the communication works nor the ingame moderation. (See countless starting areas Gold Farmer Bots, Fishing Bots or Gold Seller that can run around without problems).

Due to the recent “Dupe Bug”, vast amounts of gold and items have been duplicated, and steamers/players who have demonstrably cheated receive ridiculous 24 hour bans that screw us honest players, since there are now even reports that say that many “Mule” accounts have not been hit at all. This is ridiculous, because it just shows that cheating is worth it. I dare to doubt that Amazon has removed all duplicated items from the game and therefore that the economy will recover.

It has become common for AGS to release a patch every week in the middle of the week (Europe), but it usually shows that insignificant things are fixed, such as pumpkin lanterns. It also shows that at this rate in the near future can not even begin to fix all the major bugs, let alone the minor bugs.

Yesterday, at least for me, I made the decision to pause playing “New World” like probably many before me. As it currently looks AGS is not in a position to operate a proper crisis management that does justice to the situation.

There are already other posts about how to solve the problem, but I’ve just reached the point that I’m disappointed with the performance of AGS.

Despite really enjoying the game, I have to admit that I feel that I might be in the same boat as you. I’ve heard that many people are now running around with duped voidbent armor and some companies/players have ungodly amounts of gold to sweep the markets with as they please - and they haven’t gotten anything more than a slap on the wrist as punishment.

If this is true, then there’s not much point in rule-abiding players engaging in anything other than solo activities. As long as the maximum GS remains at 600, we will never be able to compete with the people who have exploited and duped their way into full sets of god-rolls. The only way we’ll ever have a chance to catch up is if the GS cap is raised.

Hell, even if all of the duped gear is faithfully removed by AGS, there are still a whole host of exploits and bugs in PvP combat itself, and until those are fixed, I simply can’t compete if I’m not willing to risk a ban like all the hatchet cheaters.

I’d be willing to bet that some of the PvP cheaters we have right now aren’t even really inclined towards cheating, but they feel like it’s the only way they can compete at the moment. The same thing happened in Fallout 76’s Nuclear Winter, and it got so bad that eventually they just scrapped the whole game-mode and tore it out.

I hate cheating and I feel like a person shouldn’t even bother playing a game if they’re just going to cheat.

But if I was a governor of a territory that I felt really passionate and possessive about, and if I knew that an attacking guild had known cheaters in it… I have to admit that I might actually consider counter-cheating.

I’d most likely leave the game permanently if I ended up doing it, because I’d feel so guilty about it. But the fact that I know I’d consider it at all is a sad reflection of the state of PvP right now.
