Open challenge to any AGS develeoper / decision-maker

I was thinking about this earlier today and wanted to write it up and present a challenge to the AGS devs…

I was thinking about the expertise change and thought – what if it were reversed? What if expertise wiped all HWM and instead they said ‘your expertise is only as high as your crafting skill’.

It would completely invalidate months of grinding bosses and opening chests, delete whole two months of progress for people. And it would tie expertise to highest crafting level. Crafters would be saying it’s all fine and they see no problem, but would this be fair to the people who chose to grind opening chests?

My challenge to a dev is to explain here how what they are doing to crafters is not the very same thing? How is this not the very same situation?

you have a valid point. The only difference i see is that there arent any obvious exploits in leveling crafting like there were in farming watermark. we all know the broke mechanics people were exploiting and they are going to get a free pass. if this goes unanswered im done.

Was every soldier in the medieval era a blacksmith?

leveling your profession is ez that’s why so many did it instead of farming HWM.

Valid point however at this stage there is nothing they can do at this point that would make all the different demographics of players happy. So they are kind of in this “Damned if we do & Damned if we don’t” situation… A situation they 100% caused so tech. they deserve all the negativity they are getting right now.

But there is something they can do.

They can make the highest item crafted also bump your expertise to that level. If the highest amulet you ever crafted is 550 then you should be able to wear that amulet at that 550 expertise level. You’ve earned it, that’s for sure. It took a damn long time to get jewelcrafting to that point. All those gems and all those motes…

And if you went further and worked on getting a perfect 600 gs amulet through numerous crafts, well then your expertise should reflect all that hard work.

Expertise in its current shape is a big middle finger to a lot of people.

I see your point and I fully agree… if a crafter is willing to put in all those hours and all that gold to achieve a HWM crafted item then it should be available.

My point was just simply there is nothing they can do at this point to make everyone happy. For me I give damn about farming HWM or farming or crafting. I won’t give a damn till AGS addresses the core issues with the game. Everything else is superficial until the hole in the bottom of this boat is patched lol. Though farming and crafting are apart of the core issues.

I want John Smedley to personally make a post explaining why he’s fucking over his player base.

Time gates after time gates. Gold sink after gold sink. Do explain, my good sir.

Well then no one is gonna be happy one way or the other. They are clearly following wow devs logic , if it’s their vision how the game should work.
They will force it , you can’t get ignorant people to understand . That’s why i think writing anything in this forum is mostly pointless fun.

This isn’t all that accurate. The gear created isn’t worse, it’s capped at the ‘so called’ crafters WM/Expertise.

If they’re a ‘crafter’, what does it matter? If they’re not, why are they avoiding anything over level 60?

Crafters want to gain watermark by crafting, it’s ludicrous.

Might as well let PvErs level up crafting by killing things… Or might as well let PvErs craft gear at their watermark no matter their crafting level or if they have trophies? They grinded for it. Right?

This is nothing but another attempt to make the game easy.

At this point, I would be happier with a wipe like Atlas did when they made dramatic changes. Sure people still left, but those that stayed and new people were happy.
