So many people complain about 5 man’s. Holy cow get some friends and play with a group.
It’s not a group of 5 players, it’s a group of 5 war vets in war BiS or close to it at 625 gear scored eatting 40 star food with every trick/op perk this game has to offer fighting a large group of mostly solo players who are of huge varying degrees of skill and gear… that is the problem.
I came back, was pleased with the combat system being fun still, a lot of QoL improvements to just learn the PvP has been neglected for the entire year.
I think their priority should be cross server matches and then role queue and then possibly some sort of rating to balance by skill. Really need regional matches to make a system like this work.
Form your own 5 man and practice and get better, rather than just wanting everyone else play to how you see fit. I’ve played against 5 man war vets. I either blow up there healer or go control the other 2 points. They can only be at one point at a time. The main issue in opr is the skill gap between old and returning and new players. You don’t even need 5 players to control an opr. You can literally have 2 players dictate an opr right now because the skill difference is so high. Bis gear makes a difference but not a game breaking. My alt in 550 gs still can slay 625 because I know how to play the game. Pvp is 80 percent skill based 20 percent gear.
Once they add cross server they will add match making. All good things.
Hopefully by then the meta will be in a healthier place.
I think roles need to be forced to get a healthier meta. Can’t stop 20 people invading an OPR with easy mode bow/musket sitting 50-100m away pelting crowds and isolated healers all day.
Yep, says the self proclaimed skilled PVPer.
Keep telling yourself a 10-20% plus advantage isn’t a big deal. (GS, perks, gems, heartrunes)
Your “skill” definitely helps, and can overcome 10-20% but when the skilled players have that advantages you have what you see in OPR today.
True PvP in this game happens 1-30 leveling flagged. It’s great, asymmetrical and fun. What we have at endgame is a complicated, poorly balanced heap of fluff.
I enjoy musket but any game with hit scan is broken.
It’s been like this for months and yes it’s awful. But I agree with others who say they need to implement a role queue (and I’ve given AGS this feedback via the in game feedback tool as well a month or two ago). They really need to ensure tanks/bruisers, healers, and dps are on each team and try to balance the teams at least to some degree. I think that will go a long way towards making it more fun for all.
I do also think, however that the idea of a long range sniper class in an MMO is just stupid. Range in MMO’s is usually limited for a reason - we need to be able to fight the players hitting us.
I also think (and I think I’ve offered this feedback as well to AGS) that they need to fix how points are awarded in OPR to incentivize better play. So sniping from rocks halfway across the map shouldn’t give many points, but any activity on or directly outside an objective should offer more points. Also pure damage shouldn’t offer points, but kills, assists (which should be damage or healing) - all on or very close to an objective - and just successful defense of or successful attack of an objective, should award more points. And damage/healing/anything on roads or far from objectives should not award much at all. Basically just do what every other MMO does with BGs, and that is to give points for objectives because that wins the game.
My alt on east that’s 521 expertise with 550 gearscore can kill 625s. While I die a bit faster, the few oprs I’ve been still able to compete vs 625s, just more difficult. I also was level 47 or 48 on my fresh start character,I killed a level 57, and mid 40s in a 1v3. Would of killed the third but he was waiting for his boys to come back from respawn so I dipped. Ez pz.
Well, you 550 is boosted to 600. And yes, skill level is a huge factor in PvP. But you a vet killing noobs is a useless and shameless plug.
550 boosted this latest patch, I’ve had that alt over there for 5 months. Play it occasionally.
If you kill enemies healers and high dds range by musket from 200m you also win a match for your team … Dont tell me that 50 kills on OPR gave your team no advanatge …
There are still players that saying playing musket in OPR is not OP.
I believe that they can do nothing but playing a far ranged weap.
Also this musket issue is embarassing right now with runeglass option.
Also u can see every cheater is playing musket now too. I know there is really good muskets but 7/10 are not. They are just trying to hit from 250 m away, and they can do with random mouse click in crowded fights.
And I want to say that, OPR and 3v3 is not enough PvP mode for this game.
We are getting tired for saying that musket thing but I believe noone listen cus we see that they are buffing now ![]()
I actually agree a big problem of this game is that it has a high skill cap that 90% of the player base doesn’t know exist. This causes these players to attribute their losses to someone’s build instead of skill and to advocate for nerfs on things in cases where they get outplayed.
I do generally think anything over a party of 2 should go into a separate pre-made lobby, but this shouldn’t happen until cross-server games are happening to make sure queues are fast. It’s not a ton of fun for anyone to fight the 5 man pre-made with the optimal group of players who just run around 5v1 steamrolling everyone and not fighting anything without their whole team present. OPR is supposed to be a more casual style PVP mode, the pre-made groups should be more for arena, but typically the type of players running 5 man pre-mades aren’t very good so they would get turbo stomped in arena where the fight is even.
I don’t even think putting pre mades in there own Que would fix things. You would have the war vets In There 5 man and the homies trying to play together in theirs and ya a stomp. They would need a complete ranking system with mrr and tiers etc, with a new mode entirely I think. It would have to be like a 12v12 game mode with a new map. I don’t think they would be able to fill lobbies as a decent rate if it was 40v40. I rarely see oprs start evenly ever on any server in its current state. It’s always 18v11 or something at the start of games. They would obviously need cross server opr. And even then that might not be enough to avoid long Que , might have to combine certain regions. East has significantly more players than west and EU Has more than everyone. But then how do you deal with the ping? Playing on east from west gives me over a 100 ping and vice versa. It’s not impossible to play competitive but you are a disadvantage. Idk how they would deal with it. They also said they don’t want to do role ques for opr.
Is it viable to Que and just farm for the duration? Or would that not earn enough points to receive gypsum rewards?
It’s likely just so many ranged that you feel as if they’re premade.
I played bow for the entire last week and it’s hilarious. I never noticed how many snipers there actually are in a team. As meele I thought oh it’s maybe 4-6people.
No… it’s not… xd
I quit the game for now, cause playing bow in itself was fun. But it wasn’t even fun for me in a way of like.
I know how those feel I’m blasting with the 6+others right beside me. Each one hittim them for 2-6k in their light armor with likely 10-13k total hp lol. Who ever tries to assassin us just gets melted in a second. It’s just disgusting all around
That’s why I laugh when ppl say GS is so busted. In OPR it’s the most predictable weapon for riposte(when we talk about ranged). And if anyone manages to hit riposte out of any of the attacking massively telegraphed skills, the guy is just dead with nowhere to run
Yea, so true about start of games… like almost always especially in the morning (when opr barely start with 32 ppl), you will have some bs like 20v12, 19v13, 18v14, almost never balanced like it HAS to be 16v16 and then after more people join you fill each side with the same amount of players… Guess what happens with such a disparity, bigger team stomps midd and enemy 3 cap before team numbers balance out and OPR end up 1000:50… I don’t know why is so hard to make such a small and simple change to que… We qued once with 5 company teams (some team were 4, some teams were 5 ppl) and 4 teams got on one side while one on the other, that’s so stupid that i don’t even know what to say…
You need 500 points for a gymsum and opr crate and xp, but you get the lowest amount of xp. if you get 3000 points or more you get like 2k points or something.
