OPR Muskets are really annoying

Muskets aren’t op its just they have hit scan and the longest range out of the ranged weapons versus excluding bow but that is way harder to hit with, this isnt really an issue unless your in opr.

Too many people just sit up on a rock and do 450 dex and just shoot people where they are unreachable.

We dont need a actually nerf to musket just a limit range in opr to like 50m or a bird that kills people that go too high or something.

if u think muskets do 450 dex u know nothing about muskets im assuming u don’t play the game competetively and that’s okay, most (good) musket players dont sit up on rocks and afk that’s just the annoying bad ones and in build based games like this are gonna always have cheese no need a weapon for an annoying playstyle someone players

I’m not sure how I feel about Muskets. On the one hand I think they are a great addition to the game. I like they have melee, ranged and then these sniper long ranged weapons on offer in the game. Having said that every time I get into a decent fight with someone it will usually get ruined by a sniper even when I’ve dragged them into LOS.

Some tips to avoid muskets I have found is:

  1. Obviously avoid open areas. Make sure you are moving near obstacles that you can LOS when you need too (I actually think this adds an interesting dynamic to the game).
  2. If you are in the open and have teammates nearby go insert yourself in them. I think snipers find it hard to focus you when you are not isolated from the pack.

I feel like one solution might be to ruin the capability to fight at close range. So they are good long ranged weapons but if someone gets close to them they should get wrecked. That way if they do decide to join in on your fight you can single focus them.

When I started leveling up the musket it felt very balanced even with the hitscan, to me the overpowered issue was when I unlocked the 3x scope… making 300 meters look like 100 meters is why musket users wanna be mountain goats… remove that and you actually have a musket and not a kar98k

The thing is that muskets don’t actually want to play like this outside of defending in wars. In OPR if you see an enemy musket camping a perch you should be grateful they’re hobbling their team, because there is no single musket perch that actually gives you the ability to meaningfully impact the action around you, and if you’re constantly running from perch to perch you are spending ages repositioning instead of pressuring the enemy team and absorbing pressure from them for your own team. There are specific moments in every game where you might want to make a pitstop at an elevated position, but even then it’s very easy to overstay and ultimately hurt your performance for having made the pitstop at all. Generally speaking a good musket is going to be operating at similar ranges as fire staffs and bows and their ability to fight beyond that range is going to be more of a situational perk rather than the playstyle they lean on.
