OPR problems/suggestions

I want to list some problems and offer some suggestions to try to improve the status of OPR. Currently, there are too many matches where there is such imbalance that no strategy can help your team have a fair fight, I am talking about those matches where the team wins 1000 to < 100.

  • limit premades to 3 max. This has been said before, when these premades full war ready people come and play with half a brain it’s game over, they can just go take enemy base and since they have optimal composition it cannot be taken back.
  • Either scale everyone gs to 625 or offer more umbral shard rewards. For a pvp player there are not good ways to get umbral shards right now and you know very well how much of a difference there is between 600 and 625.
  • Going against muskets is not fun and makes me want to uninstall the game. This is my personal opinion, whether they can kill me or not, whether they are legit or not with 25+ kills every match, it is simply not fun to have absolutely zero counterplay. On top of that they hit very hard even in medium armor and 200 con.
  • Runes should be removed from pvp or nerfed, the detonate rune is way too strong and on top of that it’s gated behind pve dungeons.
  • Some rudimentary matchmaking by average gearscore/attributes distribution may help as well, try to see how fun to play it is to go against a team with healers when we have none.

The problem is that this complicates queue times and related issues. If we are trying to stop such a thing we should just bite the bullet on it and make a change something like

  • A specific battleground (opr etc maps) can only have specific count of members from each company. This will prevent any sort of “multiple groups queue at the same time” workaround.

I have been working on this topic by suggesting more umbral shard sources. A good start would be to remove umbral shard x 1000 from the pvp track and add it to the pvp vendor for x salt.

Its a big problem for pvpers. At 200 champion level the salt becomes useless. We need a vendor to buy things, especially shards.

My hopes is that once they get cross server queuing working, they will have solo queues for people to play. I actually find playing in organized groups to be very unrewarding as it’s primarily zerging around the map from point to point killing outnumbered foes you come across.

Opr is atm still unplayable as newbie … no matchmaking system, only one map … 10+ range hwo kill from miles away …

It’s unplayable for most people, 9 out of 10 games are decided before the gate opens by whichever side has the best premade bruiser squads. That 1/10 is when both sides have premade bruiser squads and then you’ll get to see healers get first on each team with like 20k+ score because finding someone that will attack the healer is like finding a unicorn.

The only way to play OPR atm for most people is to just have fun hitting stuff and completely ignore winning/losing. It’s why bow/musket players that just shoot people all game and never take objectives are so numerous, it is actually fun to just do that.

Solo queue would be amazing, the only reason I really play the game anymore is OPR and my only real options are play dex and just have fun shooting people while getting top 5 guaranteed by just spamming abilities/left click, group queue and don’t have fun because we steamroll, solo queue as anything else and coin flip being on the team with more pre-mades and winning or not and getting steamrolled having no fun at all.

Needless to say I usually just play dex to save myself the headache of dealing with the completely imbalanced nonsense that is OPR.

BTW if you don’t know the game really loves to put pre-mades on the same side for some reason. It isn’t guaranteed but it’s enough that it completely ruins most matches, the number of times I’ve seen one side hold a fort for no more than a couple minutes before getting spawn camped is way too many. The sad thing is it’s usually the same people doing the camping in their little pre-made groups that they somehow find joy in steamrolling with all day long against gypsum farmers.

It’s getting worse, haven’t been in an OPR since yesterday afternoon that it was not over in more than 5-10 mins, it’s not fun either side.
