Optimization of this game is a big problem for me

I don’t really have a very powerful setup but I can run most games without problems in high or medium-high graphics in a fluid way but new world is not the case, it really stresses me a lot the constant fps drops and in cities not to mention This happens to me both in low graphics and in the maximum graphics and what bothers me the most is having to limit myself to using a specific old driver recommended in the forum to minimize other problems that make the game unplayable for me.

Could someone tell me if the same thing happens to him and why is this game so poorly optimized compared to others? I understand that it takes a month to launch but has years of work.

These are my specifications, as I said before it is not a powerful setup but I suppose that most of the players are in the same condition or lower and very few have high-end setups.

I have a similar setup, 4 year old gaming laptop, and haven’t much of an issue running NW, but since patch 1.05 I get constant game stutters and dragging, the whole game, NPC enemies as well, and it worse during higher pop times.

The other thing about this game is that you really need very high speed internet connection or you lag like Peg-leg Pete in the 400m hurdles.

I’m seeing reviews for this card from 2016. Seriously? You are wondering why a 5 year old graphics card is not performing well on a brand new game? You don’t just have a “very powerful setup”, you have a potato…

I have a 2080 I bought last year, and yes it lags in crowded areas. So the fact this is a new game is why it’s so demanding. Every developer has to look into the crystal ball to anticipate the state of GPU power by the time they release in several years.

There was a game called Vanguard that went too far, and no one but the most hard core wireheads had a setup powerful enough. You don’t hear about that game anymore, do you?

FYI, I bit the bullet and bought a 3080 ti, and it’s now smooth as butter. You get what you pay for…

No issues here. Almost same setup.

I7 4770
GTX 1060 3GB
16GB RAM

I use it like this:

im on a gtx 970 and it runs just fine on medium with some high settings. Sure ill get frame drops and stutters in crowded areas but the game is playable.

could be that old driver causing your issues as well

what driver do you use? I am using the 472.12 that it officially recommends because if I put the most recent ones it works worse for me.

I understand your fanaticism for spending money on something that you consider a priority but it does not mean that you are right, firstly it is not a new game it has been developing since 2018, secondly the game does not have top graphics, it is a game that looks super good but not graphics that require a 3080 to work “smoothly” so as I said before, a minority only have powerful setups and if you are not going to respond with reasonable arguments, greetings.

It’s not “fanaticism” at all, I’m certainly not one of those “gotta have infinity FPS!” kind of wireheads. And believe me, I build my own PC’s, and spending more than I normally spend on an entire rebuild for a single video card (over $2k) gave me great pause.

But “top graphics” is not something I am referring to, I’m talking about challenges faced by developers to produce a product that is not going to be antiquated the moment it’s released. Mostly what I saw in improvement from 2080 to 3080 is much less lag, which is not “top graphics” at all. As a matter of fact, the eye can’t detect detail beyond a certain resolution/FPS, so even my year old 2080 delivered perfectly fine “top graphics” and it was $800, IIRC. Lag can come from a lot of things, (even not using the right driver, which sometimes means not using the newest driver) so I was pleasantly surprised my $2k resulted in some improvement.

It may have been in development since 2018 (which is STILL 2 years after your card was being reviewed) but every developer has to develop their product for the target hardware they anticipated is going to be on the market at release. It’s an age old balance that plagues every product.

It used to be that CPU’s were the linchpin for game performance, well, CPU’s are so powerful you can throw anything at a several year’s old CPU. Before that, it was the VGA bus, the pipeline between the GPU and CPU, which resulted in the PCIE standard. Storage speed was an issue at one point, now SSD’s have become the standard. Hell, do you remember extended and enhanced ram? Thim’s was the daze!

Again, you get what you pay for, if anyone’s 3 year old rig can run NW, laggy or otherwise, then it’s not really a failure of the development, is it? See my comment about Vanguard.

Same setup, video card, a bit newer ryzen processor and half of your RAM. My problem is the loading time. I open the game, go grab a coffee, a kiss on the parrot and a kick on the girlfriend (or would be the other way around?), then it’s ready to play. While on the wild game run smoothly, when I reach locations where there are 10 + players game starts to stutter, giving an impression that will go for a perma freeze until I release the keyboard and wait a few seconds for it finish to load things.

Same here - loading times are slow and once I’m in town, I have to wait 30 sec to a min for things to stabilize. It also takes a minute, literally, to load into OPR, invasions, expeditions, etc.
