No idea how many games that have timegates, but specifically for old wow in classic with raid timers, that was character specific, couldn’t use gold to just bypass the timers, this orb system is just so broken now.
I like to Grind my Orbs with my friends, It gives me accomplishment when I then finish the istance.
Probably because I don’t feel the need to Hard Min-Max everything in 1 week.
I don’t want to say that everybody should play casual and have a life, but at the same time people that want to finish everything in 1 week should be able to do it but at a cost and the cost is paying the key, supplied by unfortunate guys that don’t have friends to play with or friends who quitted the game.
Destroying a market is never a good thing.
Or again adopt a WoW-Like system. Lazarus and Genesi on spam without having to pay? No please.
At least for me, then personally I don’t really care, AGS decide what they actually want
So no , Orbs are not ruining my game atm. I am more worried about Fishing Bots XD
You misunderstood the point.
In a free market, obviously labor and value will be sold. But this is not a solution to a problem, it is an inevitable outcome of a barrier that shouldn’t exist. I don’t care about capitalism here.
I mentioned weekly raid cd, though these days with 4 difficulties of a raid you can jam pretty much as much as you can stand. You can also run them for no loot.
M+ keys are more or less unlimited. M0 once per week for loot or as often as you like to learn things and plan routes.
Sadly, this attitude is why the game has gone from 900k peak to barely breaking 60k in 6 months. Cool everyone that doesn’t like the grind can go somewhere else. You and your 10 friends can have your elitism in a dead game. Then you can shine about how the casuals killed NW and not that you did everything you could to make it die.
My last hope for this game was for the orbs and keys to be removed. They didn’t do that either, and like 900,000 people who left games for me, he’s dead now.
Nothing wrong with dungeon orbs. The components to make all have value. Time gated materials like runestone and faction points have gold value. People complain about orb but they really just choose not to pay. Pay for your split of the orb value and more people will make orbs. Only do orbs for free and there is no incentive to make them.
It is also not difficult to level up stonecutting. Not difficult to mine stone. Not difficult to farm faction points. Not difficult to buy materials off the trade post. I am making my orbs on CD and usually do 5 runs rotation with them. This is 45 dungeons a week. It is hard to actually do that many so I will probably need to start selling them and just run mutations once I get all the loot im interested in. If people pay for orbs I will keep making them. If they do not pay then I will not make them. If AGS removes orbs it will gut and entire segment of the economy, which is an entire gameplay loop in itself. Basically what you are asking for is to eliminate content from the game.
You can make thousands of gold from a single expedition. Paying 500-1500g will almost certianly leave you ahead from what you pay. The orb crafter is getting a marginal profit at best and is at worst breaking about even. The biggest problem right now is people refusing to engage with this as intended. If you pay at a minimum what an orb is worth the orb economy will expand, as it expands the price will reflect its correct value.
If you had unlimited access to expeditions then they would no doubt need to cut the rewards down to a fraction of what you now get. They would be close to worthless becasue having a gold faucet without a sink almost always has reaching effects.
Orbs = economic
So its okay for the company owning WW/EF to have a gold faucet, but not okay for players to have access to instanced content? That makes no sense.
Only for the elite that are exploiting the system since orbs are NOT tradable, yet people have been using exploits to work around this system. Yes, I believe the way people have been selling orbs is an exploit, and it has negatively affected the community with how toxic groups tend to get.
That would still be better, their can go and cut 75% of all higher tier mutations, and you still get a bunch of umbra shards, mythic 10 gold would still give 1500, mythic 9 would be 1000 it would promote playing the game instead of waiting for the orb cooldowns.
Exactly. This stale argument that “if they removed the time-gates then they would have to reduce rewards” is easy to counter. Then just reduce the rewards.
Most people don’t play games to get a reward, they play the game because they want to have fun, rewards are secondary. So just remove the time-gates, and the rewards, so we can do the content we like to do and not wait for stupid time-gates.
Well said!
I think rewards and a sense of progression is very important, but everything other then a mutation run right now is so meaningless if you don’t need expertise.
I’m sure once we get the umbra shards for OPR it become alive again for a few weeks, until people feel that 50 to 100 shards pales in comparison with high tier mutation run, like tier 9 giving 4000 umbra shards for gold.
Yeah but how often can you run tier 9 mutated exp? I have managed to run M2 because that is all the orbs I got and buying a spot is both expensive and hard due to having to have perfect gear score.
So the two are not comparable. OPR can be done by anyone, and he can be naked and still get rewards because you just need 500 points, which you can get in a couple of minutes.
I definitely agree on required orbs for mutations are bad for the game, was just saying my opinion that I feel progression is important to, all this orb thing does is promote people to wait for cooldown’s and other method of acquiring umbra shards can’t be scaled properly to be rewarding compared to timegated mutation dungeon’s.
You would need over 1200 OPR’s to get every 600 item to 625, but only like 25 tier 9 mutation runs
imagine paying to do pve content.
Realistically, unless you run pre-mades with all their orbs saved, you can run 2 mutated dungeons per week, three if you have 200 stone-cutting. So those 25 runs will take you several months. So those runs are not so only, for most people. If for one, stuck at M3 because I have no orbs and no pre-mades to run with and I cant afford the cost to buy a spot.
I don’t really care about OPR, give them whatever rewards they want, but don’t leave this stupid time gates for us PvErs, so we are stuck behind them while the PvPers have fun doing OPR, all day long.
The core dynamic of every mmorpg is contents that could be done with community. And the most popular of these contents is the dungeons. And in this game you have to pay to do dungeons. You have to pay in game money to play core game. This is the worst decision making i’ve ever seen in my life.
It’s like you have to pay some gold to level up your character. Or you have to pay some gold to complete every quest. It’s like joke.
If you take 2000g out of a dungeon, there is zero reason you cannot pay 1000g to get in. That 1000g pays for the thousands of lodestones, the sandpaper, the chisel, the rare parts… all which has to be collected and increased value of engaging in various other activities. If you paid the orb crafters you could go on as many runs as you want and would at a minimum break even but most likely come head in progressing expertise and gear not to mention the other loot which you can turn around and sell. Every crafted item in the game has value but orbs? No becasue you never had to pay for them in any other game you simply refuse to in this one, even though it stops you from progressing. The turth of this is people are ruining the game for themselves becasue they think they are entitled to every game on the market being perfectly in line with what they have played before. Thje truth is they are problably looking for any excuse to whine about something. You could spend some time engaging with the game, make 3 bars of asmo and have access for to a laz run which would in turn get you loot and gold. It would take clicking a few buttons and the problem would be solved.
