Some people are saying premades should be allowed to que for OPR and roflstomp a group of unorganized pugs because otherwise they wouldnt be able to do OPR as a group.
But stop and think for a moment, what does that mean? It means so few people choose to do OPR as a premade that they cant even find other premades to go against in a fair level.
So this leads to the main question, why would you pander to an incredibly tiny and unpopular minority? People dont enjoy going through the social process to find a premade so they can UNFRAILY roflstomp and unorganized pug, they just want to que and have fun
What is popular?
Fun content that you can que for during your free evening and get rewarded for your time.
Casuals do not wish to go through the pain of serious social interaction to do content they enjoy, they want to just log in and have fun, trying to force social interaction due to some outdated notion of what mmos are about is only going to backfire.
Just look at the % of group wide achievements compared to achievements anyone can achieve solo, people dont like organized group content that requires social interaction no matter how much some nostalgia googles people scream about.
So you want to punish everyone that want to play with their friends because you don’t want to make friends and talk to people. In an MMO.
Plenty of solo pvp or pve game out there. This is an MMO, its made to play with people.
I wouldn’t say it’s unpopular. It’s like the number one thing that companies do to train their 5 mans and build group synergy and coordination in pvp. My company doesn’t even do war, but we 5 man OPR and 3s for arena because it’s fun to play with friends.
It wouldn’t be nearly as bad of an experience if people worked together in pugs, there is voice coms and army chat to coordinate. The problem is really people going in and soloing and ignoring everything going on around them. Of course you are going to have a bad time.
GW2 and other MMOs tried to stop Pre-mades from queuing in Team-based PvP modes. What it led to was win trading and match manipulation. No team based PvP mode should force people to PUG. It is one of the worse things that can happen to a team based PvP mode. Please for the love of the universe AGS, don’t do it. Allow for Pre-mades to form and have fun.
It’s one thing to ask for Solo content because all mmorpg’s offer it. But you are grossly mistaken if you genuinely think group content isn’t popular.
Punish?
Not being allowed to roflstomp and get an easy win out of an unorganized is “punishment” in your eyes?
Even by that logic you again forget, you are a tiny minority compared to the vast majority of casual players, so why should the majority get screwed for the sake of a tiny minority?
Now that is a degree of entitlement you rarely see.
Nobody said anything about not having group content, I specifically mentioned ORGANIZED group content, people often enjoy qued group content because they dont have to interact with anyone socially.
And like I said at the start, if the vast majority of players didnt do expeditions and instead chose to go for the solo and open world options, maybe mmorpgs shouldnt focus on a tiny minority if they want long term success
Is common in all MMORPG’s including new world. Or did you not get the memo what genre you’re playing.
in MMORPG’s the majority does group content. The Minority does Solo content.
Always been that way. The only time the Majority is Solo is in a JRPG because its single player.
If YOU do not like organized grouping, don’t group. Simple as that.
Pretty sure you are wrong with the “tiny minority” thing. Every company i know does opr in groups, pretty much all of my friends list does opr in groups, the only way i do opr is in groups. There is even player asking to group up in global or recruitment for opr.
I agree with you in that most of the players just want to queue and play some matches without having to spend the time and effort to find a competent group. Let’s be honest if you spam global is just the same than queuing solo, you are forming a group with randoms. And for those who play with friends, well let’s be real here too, unless you are teens in your holidays and can play all day along together, you won’t be able to fix schedule and play with friends most of the time cause jobs, family etc.
But yes you should be able to pair with a friend and queue as premade cause if not what’s the point of playing with someone?
The only solution is introducing elo and balancing the teams on matchmaking.
And do you believe the majority of players do content through a company or themselves?
And if that is true then you dont have to worry about OPR having a group only que since you are so confident everyone does it in groups ;^)
When the vast majority of players do content/qued group content then the minority is absolutely the ORGANIZED group content
Most mmo players play mmos with a solo mindset, aka you avoid socialization and just que and have fun, games that try to force socialization fail because people dont want that
