It’s less than 70-80k. Steam will report any actively running game. I’m sure I have like 400 hours of game time and while actually 1/3 of that is easily the game running while I forgot about it.
For the steam numbers, a portion of it will be clients that are disconnected, another will be bots and RMT accounts, and yet another will be players that do sign in but are barely able to get themselves to do much for the 5 to 20 mins they are on. Also, some players have more than one account.
Last night during peak we were at 53k according to nwdb.
This game is not in a good place. Any different site that uses a reporting API will show a good 5-10k less players.
Remember banning RMT and bot accounts actually increases the values on Steam. The actual player base is probably closer to 40k at this point.
Comparing apples to oranges here. Most MMOs don’t show up on Steam charts because they have their own dedicated launcher. Saying New World has more concurrent players than other genres is being disingenuous at best.
Which bugs? The ones from the launch of game that still exist? The ones from the first emergency patches? Or the ones from this latest clusterF? That’s the thing, they break more than they fix.
But the problem is not coming from the 80k players. The problem is that the number of players is decreasing too fast. In one months the peak will be 60k. In 3 months 40 - 50k ?
When it will stop? Why people are quitting? Is AGS will merge new servers every 2 months ?
The feeling that the game is dying for so many players is completely normal according to the facts.
I know it hurts those who believe in the game but facts are facts.
I like PVP, but the balance of weapons, mount, honor champion list, diversified 1V1 3V3 content, these interesting grinding content is not, ending in January, only disappointing content update
That is true, which is why normally they schedule QA to test the fix and any systems connected to it, to see if anything else broke from the fix. Except they don’t seem to have a QA team, let alone even do QA. They see a problem, they fix that problem whatever way they can (often poorly) and it leads to breaking other things which they don’t know until players complain after the patch is live. A good QA team testing things would help prevent most obvious bugs from ending up in the live environment. Looks like they’ve been cutting corners, likely not enough devs with enough time to properly fix/test things, and no QA to do any thorough testing.
I log in like it’s a job, do a few chores, then log back out and play something I actually enjoy. I’ve been hoping and waiting for more PvP options, to fix the desync and bugs plaguing the game, but every patch the game gets buggier and further away from what I want.
Sad to see the potential go to waste, but probably for the best.
In northern hemisphere it is “gaming saison” and most players live there. In summer the numbers will keep dropping even more. I can imagine that NW will have 20 or 30 K people on average at primetimes. I dont know when NW reaches the critical line. Maybe under 20k they will have to make decisions.
The bugs I could have lived with, but I can’t live with having to grind 1000 dungeons for my 2/3 different pvp builds to be min maxed. God forbid I want to change or try a new piece of gear. Crafting my gear was fun, repetitive dungeons not fun.
All I can hear when I see this is Nickelback singing, look at this graaaaaaaphhhh. I am pretty sure I’ve seen this same graph a million times now since the game has been released. Low effort posts unfortunately would be more helpful if this was more constructive.
What is AGS intention to veil their misery? Maybe they fear bad publicity? Players will talk about empty servers anyway. Next step is closing forums. Last step closing servers !
Those are not AGs charts - looks like nwdb.info, and there was an issue obtaining stats for a while.
Yes numbers may be declining but stupid posts taken out of context are just that. stupid.
