There’s a few monsters that get the grit effect but are immune to stuns which is absolutely infuriating

Or just be a gheist and be removed from all forms of CC

I haven’t looked at the forums or logged into NW inawhile - but seems like more and more people are starting to get to endgame and realize combat is shite, content non existent, dungeons empty, pve content empty / shallow, pvp empty / shallow

my buddy said this game is possibly the worst MMO he has ever dumped time into, and he’s a long time MMORPG player. Said NW doesnt feel very rewarding to play, at all.

You make it sound like this is a minor side point, or a pesky counter argument… this is THE argument.

Not sure if you’ve ever done a war or OPR… but if you’re asking me to avoid all 3v1 situations, you’re out of your mind.

No, I don’t want to be stunlocked for 5 seconds while I get crit faced to death.

There is a time and a place for stagger, but them removing it was not a decision made in a vacuum. It was based on feedback, like this, that says I don’t want to walk into a fight, not move, then die.

Why are you running off alone in a war or OPR? Generally speaking the only time I’m alone in OPR (haven’t gotten into a war yet) is when I’m out gathering resources and a few people sneak around the main fights to come after the back line.

But again I ask, if you’re attacked 1v3, what is supposed to happen? Should you just get to run away unless they have a great axe user? No, if you’re actually caught in melee against three opponents by yourself, you should probably die barring dramatic skill differences.

Right now, when I get into melee in Outpost Rush, I tend to be knocked around by war hammers until I’m dead. Unless I’ve got a healer helping me, in which case I’m nearly invincible.

Exactly what you’re saying you don’t want to happening is what happens in melee, only now it’s a chaotic mess of random abilities and great axe lunges.

I’ve basically stopped playing right now because I don’t want to run forts or other elite chest runs because that’s pure snoozefest and combat is so terrible that it’s more fun to chop trees in OPR than actually engage in the fighting.

Increase the stamina pool across the board for melee users, make heavy attacks and Skills cost stamina to use. put diminishing returns on all cc.

AGS gutted its masterwork combat system in an attempt to implement outdated, dumbed down PvE/PvP design.

Part of today’s problems came from their attempt to adapt their combat system (which was deisgned for PvP and one-on-one, small scale PvE, with truly action and skill based combat) to larger scale, button mashing PvE/PvP systems from older more traditional games like World of Warcraft.

They should’ve done the opposite, instead, and designed a new, groundbreaking PvE system around their masterwork action and skill based PvP combat system. That would have been absolutely legendary.

AGS needs to go back on that. If they don’t, then this game is going to be nothing but more of them same, except with wierder design decisions and more bugs and exploits everywhere. People will flock to the first new MMO that gets released.

literally this, when your most attractive option at endgame is gathering transitory materials inside the constructed pvp, of a game marketed as one with heavy emphasis on pvp and deep combat - you done fucked up.

I stopped playing after doing a day or so of chest runs and some logging in outpost rush.
unless something drastic changes, I won’t be returning - and their huge ptr patch, sure as shit ain’t it.

It’s a shame there’s so many fires going on right now that this probably won’t be addressed any time soon. Not that they’ve ever directly addressed it in the last 11 months since they removed stagger.

Bring stagger and/or hit-stun mechanics into combat so it’s not the same boring crap like all of the other MMORPGs out right now.

Just implement Dark Souls mechanics or something similar and combat will feel a thousand percent better. People can still do their crafting and non-pvp stuff while pvp people can get more enjoyment out of combat.

Preview was the best iteration of combat with Stagger.

Literally, the most fun I’ve ever had PvP’ing in a MMO, lag, no lag, didn’t matter the combat felt so nice and blended right into a delicious immersion factor. They really had something and then tossed it out because people yelled hatchet spam.

Another iteration of AGS going full tilt on changes and not making iterations. Like what they’re about to do with the market.

Original vision of combat was always the best. The skill required to pvp was much higher. Unfortunately with the amount of bugs currently I do not think they would even have the resources to revert/balance the old combat system back into the game.

According to new update, they want to add arenas in the future. No idea what that will change like overall endgame systems, when the combat is just boring 0.o

I think they’ve already edged past the event horizon after this latest patch unfortunately.

Yeah that’s just like slapping band aid on a gaping, bleeding wound. My buddies and I just went back on ESO (which is a shame -because we were really looking forward to NW darksouls survival MMORPG) ESO combat is way better than NW, ha
