So turns out I was wrong on one point. AGS might not provide an API to Overwolf to get real-time player position. Instead, they allowed Overwolf to (what seems like) read the game’s memory to grab that data which they can then offer within their own API. That doesn’t make it any less confusing, quite the opposite even.
I understand you guys might still be working from home and that it can make communication between different departments more difficult but this needs to be figured out once and for all.
AGS, as a company, needs to take a clear stance on addons. It should be “yes” or “no”. You can’t start policing which addon is allowed and which isn’t because you will never be able to reliably track and enforce those rules.
Can you please get with someone/anyone and give us a definitive answer on whether the current Overwolf mini-map addon is allowed or not. None of this “If” talk. I honestly do not care what the answer is - I just want to be able to definitively tell people in my Company that they either can or cannot use it. It shouldn’t take this long to give an actual answer on this issue. AGS doing a modicum of research on this subject would literally settle all these threads if you just gave us an actual straight-forward answer. @NW_Mugsy@Luxendra - someone…anyone… just communicate with us on this issue with an answer either way.

I think your reading skill are defective, because otherwise you would’ve realized that the issue comes from all the contradicting statements made by AGS over the last few days.
the whole point of the addon is to show you a map with resources to make farming more efficient. according to the official post that makes using it bannable.
Hey everyone, I’m reading through this long thread and there seems to still be some confusion around our official stance on addons.
To clarify, addons that read position only are considered okay at this time. Should our position on that change, we will post on the Official Notice, that Luxendra has been updating, 24 hours prior to taking action.
If the addon reads more than position, including pulling resource locations from the game or an external website, giving players an advantage that is not intended by the developers, it is a violation of our ToS and we will take action.
I hope this has cleared up the confusion.

Are you using an addon that pulls only your location?You are good at this time and no action will be taken. Keep watch on the official channel in case this position changes.
Are you using an addon that pulls more than your location?You need to stop immediately, as you are subject to action from the moderation team.
@Kay So since Overwolf Overlay is not PULLING any information except location, and is using your location to show you just a picture of what could be someplace, that is not against TOS at this time?
I assume when you say “pulling resources” you mean that the addon is reading in-game information to accurately show if a node is available or not?
If the addon is reading or showing anything other than your location on the map - including the location of resources, like nodes, or places of interest, etc. then it is against the ToS.
I’m curious what the difference between it pulling location and showing resource information on an overlay, and someone just having the resource map open on another monitor?
It’s basically the same thing. Are you saying anyone with multiple monitors are violating ToS?
That sucks. So basically back to just having to waste my second monitor to do the same thing. I hate having to tab out all the time to adjust my Interactive map when I am searching for specific stuff. It breaks game immersion and also stops me from watching youtube while I grind flowers

Please, consider putting in some QOL UI/Map/Compass updates soon… That’s literally why we used it to begin with.
I can say that we are actively looking at improvements all the time, including the compass, map, etc. for quality of life opportunities.
Be sure to let us know what you would love to see in the game, and we will see what we can do. This can be done via in game feedback, or in the forums which is where we lurk and engage often.
I want to second the motion of adding a map of your own then. Having a minimap made by AGS with the nodes showing after we unlock the tracking for them would be ideal and solve the whole issue. If some dude on the internet can do it, I’m pretty sure AGS can do it too.
Thanks for the clarification. This minimap addon IS pulling in information about resources etc and showing it. Please make an official statement about it being banned.
