For all haters of the minimap,JUST GET A FKING LIFE,we want to play and have fun not to fking memorise all the map and all resurces spawn…If u dont like the minimap,if u dont like some of us use minimap just go fking quit and complain on another game :),u all fking KARESNS,some tiny ants behind a monitor. #GET A LIFE AND LEAVE US ALONE.
Maybe the cheaters have it correct and honest players have it wrong.

Absolutely NOT TRUE. even a part of the EULA they cannot take screenshots at anytime they wish, they would have to notify and inform you and give you reasonable time to close any sensitive information that might be on display.
and I can easily have sensitive info over top of the game window, I do it all the time, I can have a dual screen RDP to my work machine that contains EXTREMELY sensitive info in it, right over top of the game window/screen that is running in the background while im crafting 400 armor gloves…
Yeah - your behavior clearly shows what type of person you are - a lazy one.
No one forces you to memorize the whole map.
My bad cause I’ve wrote “while the window is active” - but I should’ve wrote “while the window has focus” as in it’s the window that intercepts OS input. So if you would alt-tab something over the window that the NW game wouldn’t have focus anymore and the screenshot wouldn’t be taken.
It’s not about just switching it of you fool it’s about having an advantage over others be it they dont like addons or have no clue about addons or have no wish to risk downloading what they do not know about or think they need a programming degree to install it a number of reasons.
If you really think this does not give you a massive advantage you are as stupid as your post says so.
Example 2 players both are traders/crafters one has the add on the other does not or has it switched off both get dropped in the middle of the map and both have 1 hour or 30 min to collect the most ore/hemp what ever it is who do you really think has the advantage then this reflects on the market as addon player will craft more and quicker.
Take ESO has a addon for lore book location and many others who do you think will collect all in 1 day and the other take months and enjoy the reward for the work put in months

We know the intention of the developers so there is no question about who is right or wrong.
They do not want players to use 3rd party software that gives any advantage over in-game solutions.
If their stance would be different and they would say “minimaps are allowed” I would simply accept that.
Right now only the cheaters have problems - why can’t those people accept the decision of the developers, quit using cheats and just move on?

Yep - that’s what I’ve meant by focus. And it would take “screenshot” only of the NW window region.
The game is barely playable full of bugs and broken content and you guys worried about a fucking map…

then it would not capture anything but the game. you can have your minimap on a different screen and no overlay on top of the game, you can even stream the minimap to a completely different device

Yep but as you’ve pointed out earlier screenshoting non-game content on the desktop could cause some legal issues.
IMO removing the ability to use overlay would be a step in a good direction - some people could decide to drop the usage of minimap because of that, and some would use split screen or second monitor and at least their live would be harder by choice.
Regardless of that I think (and hope heh) that AGS will start working on some solution to prevent those cheats.
cheating sure, But considering a map, on a second monitor as a cheat is just asinine.
I can go to MANY map sites for new world and see the resources and exactly where they are.
Having it as a plugin in Overwolf is not making such a great advantage over anyone else that is able to open a browser window.
Should we also ban making youtube videos with tutorials on expeditions ? Make sure no one is able to gain an unfair advantage of knowing the expedition before they actually do it, and get that loot faster ?
For starts if AGS had made a actual functioning compass with even the smallest amount of customization to it myself and many other players wouldn’t have gone looking for third party solution. Due to memory leaks it stops working over time you can be standing right on top of a resource that doesn’t display at all. It will also continuously display giant icons of dead turkeys 300 meters away that someone else killed which are also blocking my view of resources I want to find in the distance, It’s a terrible design that was poorly implemented.
I’m writing this while I have the forums open on another monitor and I’m copping tree’s outside first light wear there are 5 bots in my visiblty range doing the samething and so many are less concerned about that then a addon that will allow an actual human player to compete with them for the resources.
I’m also running overwolf minimap right now on my main monitor in a much better version since now I can display every single resource chest creature spawn and scrap of paper without breaking the ToS. Now that it’s streaming my location to a outside site I can use display fusion to open a borderless window that I have full control over the size position opacity and color rendering of and then pin said window over top of the game.
Far as macro’s go via addons those of us who own gaming peripherals already have access to full scripting and macro capability. Sure amazon is aware of this particularly in my case since my 4x 32inch curved monitors and my razer hardware were all purchased from them.
Then the debate about dps and healing meters, If amazon cared about true game balance and if certain things like perks were working properly, they would allow them. This way scientifically minded players could use them to analyze data and mathematically prove if X skill or build was truly out performing Y.
It’s not asinine at all but comparing interactive minimap to expedition video stream is. Keep in mind that AGS said that minimaps with more functionality than in-game compass are not allowed. They’ve never said anything like that about YT videos. This discussion is about minimap in NW not minimaps in general so those things matter.
Interactive minimap gives you a lot more info than in-game one (not only resources locations but also optimizing route to a selected destination and/or optimizing routes for mining/harvesting, showing lore items location) - it’s straight up cheating.
I know people can go to many map sites and it would be ideal if AGS could stop that too cause it’s only slightly worse than an minimap.
There is a simple solution to make live harder for minimap users so why not do that first and after that focus on how to prevent usage on minimap on webbrowser during playtime?
