No it is not safe. They will ban people for using it. I am just glad I never got it to work and I have only one monitor.
Many games used to come with maps in the game box. It’s more of a tool than anything.
i’d say while at it let’s ban everybody with more than one monitor as well. And send the police to verify

I don’t really care about the exploit/no exploit argument.
I would approach this programmatically if it’s an issue AGS wants to address. Just randomize resource node respawns. Keep them in the same general area, but set a set of spawn rules like within x distance from the center of spawn zone, think a smallish circle for the spawn zone that encompasses and area a bit larger than compass detection. Then use a random generator to determine exact spawn location within the target area.
This would make any kind of map program less useful other than a general spawn area and pretty much defeat planned spawn runs for resources. This would also make it very hard on the botters.
But maybe AGS doesn’t care that much so that would make this a non-issue and not worth arguing about.

At that point there should just be NO map at all, take everything away so no one can see or remember where anything is. Make sure no has a pen and paper, they might note down where the ore is on a paper… fucking cheaters, writing things down.!
Even if overwolf was blacklisted by AGS I could still simply go to mapgenie display the resources I want to see use a illustrator to draw the exact route I want to follow then overlay that window onto my main monitor in the gaming window. If mapgenie didn’t even exsist I could just take a screenshot of the in game map run the zone to find the resources I want mark them into that map then once again just overlay it into my game window. There is simply no way to stop it from happening. Making a argument to take away a tool that already does it for us is idiotic when it is going to occur no matter how much you complain or AGS trys to limit players.

AGS has no spine. MOD’s should not be allowed. Too difficult to understand? Control your own code first and foremost, which seems to be extremely difficult up to now.
they should ban OP instead! on forum and in the game.
Overwolf worked closely WITH AGS on the updates regarding their minimap. Its 100% up to ToS, and still to date, not a single person has been banned for using it.
If you cant beat em, join em. And quit bitching about things that dont affect you.

It’s so sad to me that you can’t see how literally moronic those statements are.
Even if AGS could stop minimap addons even if they could stop outside websites with resource info even if they could stop in game overlays I’d still have access to all the information you don’t want me to I’d just have to gather said information myself instead using what other people have already done.
Bring up in game map lay piece of paper on screen and trace the map grid said map out and systematically explore the zone via the grid to uncover all possibly resources. Mark said resources on map by laying the piece of paper back over the screen eachtime you find a new one, All resources in New world are both static and leave some visible trace even if the resource isn’t actively gatherable at the moment you find it. Yes it took some time and a very slight amount of effort I now have a exact scale map of the zone displaying all resource locations that I could just tape to my monitor over the game window. Unless AGS is going to remove all maps from the game or you are going to come to my home and physically take my pencil and paper away from me I’m always going to have the information you don’t want me to and call it cheating.

If they had the client-side system I’ve described to check for overlays over game window area then that system would easily caught the overlays you are describing. Apart from that it would require a lot more work from your side, most people that are currently using minimap wouldn’t go that route. Additionally you wouldn’t have any live info about your position on the map nor any type of automatic route optimizations.
Obviously there will always be away for cheaters to cheat - but why make it easy for them?
